- Good EH vIeWers! this player piano is powered by pumping the foot
pedals which makes the bellows pull a vacuum and makes all of the mechanical parts work.
if you like to see a video of this player piano with its mechanism while its
working then like the video and please comment below! :)
I searched this out because the arcade game Make Trax has music from Twelfth Street Rag. It's actually the ending on the orchestral version that the game plays when you die. I find this player piano fascinating because I do music production with MIDI files, and the player piano was a way to play an instrument automatically before the days of MIDI sequencing. I have seen later player pianos that have electric motors so you don't have to pedal them.
That piano is actually on pitch. I like the honky-tonk sound.
I agree that the piano does need a tuning but it plays pretty well, albeit a few notes are dead, it's good candidate for restoration though!
I like the barroom sound that you get.
@@mindycobb1027 Yeah, it's got a really throaty tone
I'd say mend the player mech (if that's causing some notes not to play) but keep the tuning as it is since I enjoy the "saloon" sound this has.
@@slendermanRblx The basic thing to do is get all the notes working, and then worry about tuning and stuff like that
I love playing that old song.
Good, snappy, music.
the perfect piano song ever!
Love it. I was once given one of these, with a tea chest full of rolls. Had to decline because it would not pass through the hall.
The original Stair Master exercise machine.
Could you explain that?
@@breadstickwar9472Because most player pianos originally used pedals powered by the player's foot to play the rolls.
i think that the player piano would benefit from a tuning and some maintenance to the internal player mechanism as some notes aren't being played
Yeah it does need some TLC and a good tuning.
I think the poorly tuned piano makes the song sound a little bit more vintage, like a wild west saloon piano.
@@gustavvonschroder907 listen to how it actually sounds the piano has notes that are not playing as the piano needs tlc and tuning even with tuning it will most likely sound like a honky tonk piano anyway due to how old the strings are
@@gustavvonschroder907 amen… couldn’t agree more.
Sounds like you want to take a job away from a player piano
I think your days of suggesting things need to end soon.
Children should be seen and not heard
a little out of tune, but finally someone is playing this roll at the correct tempo, ( A few other YT vids, of player pianos, are playing it 25% faster, or more) any idea who the player action maker is? I'm gonna guess a approx 1915-1918 Otto Higel Metanola player action in this piano... or the conventional 3 tier wood player action/stack , also made by Otto Higel Toronto,
Too many people watching ol' Lightning Fingers Roy Clark play this on his guitar 😂
Really cool
Early midi
In a certain city, where the girls are cute and pretty they
have a raggy jazzy jazz time tune,
When you hear that syncopated jazz created melody
you could dance all morning night and noon,
When the slide trombone and moaning saxophone begin to play
it will make you sad 'twill make you glad.
Oh! Boy! What Joy!
Burn my clothes for I'm in Heaven wish I had a million women,
Soloman in all his glory could have told another story
were he but living here today,
With his thousand wives or more a jazz band on some Egypt shore
he could dance the night and day away,
I will tell you how they dance that tantalizing 12th. Street Rag.
First you slide and then you glide, then shimmie for a while,
To the left then to the right, "Lame Duck" "Get over Sal",
Watch your step then pirouette, Fox Trot, then squeeze your pal,
Over you comes,
Stealing such a funny feeling,
'Til you feel your senses reeling,
Tantalizing, hypnotizing, mesmerizing strain,
I can't get enough of it please play it o'er again
I could dance for ever to this refrain,
To that 12th. Street, Oh you 12th. Street Rag.
For a minute there I thought I was in a saloon enjoying a tall cold beer.
Hi, is thé mechanism is a « metalnola »? Could you send more info on thé player part. I’m trying to figure thé différences between Heintzman (Gerhard vs Co)
Would be funny to place a player piano in a church and see the people's reactions. Most people don't know what a player piano is these days.
Permission to use this on my future cartoons?
Sure i can't see why not 🙃
@@thecanadiansteamengineer282 Bad news, my phone broke so all my progress is gone, I'll have to use this for my current project
Granted.
sponge bob hahaha jes i know this song its over 100 jears old but still in spongebob hahahahah
MORE VIDEOS, NOW, BUT TUNE THE PIANO PLEASE
Im hoping this winter if all goes as planned to get it tuned at repaired for the dead keys🙃
@@thecanadiansteamengineer282 Awesome!! Can't wait for them :D
Somebody please tune that poor piano
Noooo, its sounds damn funny and good)
@@tesla4757I agree fully
I'll give this a thumbs up when the piano is tuned and the video re-posted showing it's been tuned... otherwise, nope, not a fan
Pianos sound better when detuned sometimes, this is one of those times.
Oh my god, what did QRS do to this roll? They literally messed up the whole strain, it's missing the 8 notes, just syncopation in its most basic form, this is about the worst cut of this roll you can get... I feel really bad for you guys...
No It isn’t! It sounds great!
@@mindycobb1027 You should listen to the actual roll, not this crap cut that's missing notes, look up Insignify Music and check out his transcription of the good cut of the roll, there's a massive difference
Ok
I’ve heard the song before, and it is missing a few notes, but as long as you have the basic melody, it’s alright.
@@mindycobb1027 I guess but i'm one of those sticklers that can't stand this kind of omission
EWWWWWWWWWW...Needs tuning!
