I saw them at the palladium, bottom line, stonybrook gym, a few other places I can't remember around NYC. What a great band to see live. impossible to describe how cool they were how electrically charged the whole venue became. Dancers were hot and could really dance they climbed all over fee and he threw them around like they didn't weigh a thing.
Hey Rick -- I just want to say I always loved and admired the way your uncle Vince came up with those beautiful, lush cascading piano parts for songs like "Smoke" and "You're No Fun." The sound he added was a big part of what made the Tubes special. He was also a great background singer and added those amazing high notes to those great Tubes background harmonies. Kind of a similar role to what Michael Anthony added to those Van Halen background harmonies. Not many can go there and hold those high notes with good pitch.
If memory serves, all of the Midnight Special performances were actually live in front of an audience of about twenty people. All the crowd noise and footage was added later.
THANKS oh so much! -this is why I love youtube.. this stuff would be lost if not for the internet! I think TV Is King was lip synced, but no matter its all awesome! -nuff said.
They are all solid album tracks but A&M was really jonesin' for a hit single from the group. Suffer For Sound didn't have anything even close. Sadly, as a second release ballad... I think 'Love's a Mystery' off of Remote Control would have been a huge hit. But 'Prime Time' flopped in the USA as the first single off of that album... so 'Loves a Mystery' never had a chance for radio airplay.
hands down, my favorite Tubes concert was New Year's eve, wee hours new years day 1975-76' , San Fransico at Winterland . The video and lighting aren't very good but the content, satire, skits, and rock music are great
The suits are ready here, but Talk to Ya Later is still just a little too far away, and the Midnight Special shuts down production soon after this. Imagine a smokin' debut of TTYL at this moment instead.
While this 'performance' is mostly a lip-sync, backing track show the Tubes could always entertain. A band always ahead of their time. This show in 1980 looks like it was a Midnight Special episode not aired in its original timeslot of Saturdays after midnight.
Brother Brother(Don’t Slow Down)…Non-LP Track. Superb, simply amazing on every level. Should be on the rarities, but not. Really hoping for a TUBES documentary 🙏🏾🤘🏾🎸🥁
These boys were so UNDERRATED AND UNAPPRECIATED its a F*cling crime. The talent in the band is ridiculous.
I totally agree.
What makes you believe they're underrated? Please explain.
@@gogoyubari366 You're not a fan then lol.

This video was filmed on The Midnight Special just before The Completion Backward Principle.
Goddammit, Welnick. Always makes me sad seeing these performances. RIP man.
same, he was my uncle :/

Does anyone else think the songs on Suffer for Sound/The Black Album are just amazing?

The jump at 4:35. This was after Fee broke his leg a few years before.
Still does A LOT of physical antics onstage.
.....the Sweet performing Styx's "You Need Love"? THAT's what IMMEDIATELY comes to mind.....
Prefer this look to the S&M costumes they once rocked….Spooner is killing it.
💕😍🔝🔝

This is not on any of the dvd’s that were released! WTF!
WPOD!!!!!!!!
I think they were lip syncing but it’s still them. Prerecorded.
TV shows did it that way.
@@rickstalentedtongue910 Not always but usually yeah.
What is this song called? Which LP?

Brother Brother was recorded for an album called Suffer for Sound but A&M records refused to release it and then released The Tubes from the label.
TV is King is from Remote Control
