Very highly rated group. Loved them.
The most underrated and most talented band of all time. Best live band ever!!!!
The Greatest 80's Band Ever!!!!!
A lot of talk here about Prairie Prince being an extremely talented under rated drummer… And rightfully so, but Rick Anderson also needs to be recognized as the other half of the Tubes’ killer rhythm section who was absolutely one of the best bassists out there!!!
Rick and Prairie set the pace to make the Tubes One of the greatest, or in my opinion…THE GREATEST bands of all time ❤💯😍🤟
RIP RICK ❤😢
I've been a fan of them forever....never heard this particular song though. PLEASE more Tubes videos on The Midnight Special channel!!
This was going to be on their unreleased album Suffer For Sound. Though the album didn’t release they did play the songs from it live, and still do.
Great band and great unreleased song. Originally this was going to be on the follow up to their 1979 album "Remote Control" titled "Suffer for Sound" in 1980 ,but A&M records dropped the band and they signed with Capitol Records to go on to record "The Completion Backward Principle".
Such great times going to see the Tubes shows. Great band, a great rock show and theater together. Fun times for the whole family.
I saw them live in San Francisco in 1981, what a great show!
One of those bands where the drummer was the best musician ...and I was lucky to see them live :)
I ❤ Prairie Prince's 🥁, too❣️
Saw him perform with
Todd Rundgren, 2018 & 2019.💕
He continues to
play 🥁 for Todd, and The Tubes, also.
Damn... He smokes those drums...lol
saw them opening for P Gabriel and Bowie, on Serious Moonlight tour. Great stuff!
Oh wow, I had forgotten about that show. I saw it as well. I guess that was around 1983 or 1984? Amazing show. Last time I saw the Tubes was at an Exotic Erotic Ball in San Francisco. If I'm remembering correctly, it was around 1997.
The word underrated gets tossed around a lot these days, but these guys fit that description. Specially their first two albums
A million years ahead of their time 🤪
True visionaries
Wow. I echo those calling for more Tubes here. The Midnight Special's YT channel is the gift that keeps on giving!
As far as I can recall, the suit theme was introduced for the 1981 (recorded 1980) Completion Backward Principle release. Prairie Prince was a great drummer but they were all really good musicians. I was a BIG Tubes fan back in the day and saw them perform multiple times. They always put on a terrific theatrical performance!
Yea, this was during their "transitional" period around the time A&M Records dumped them in 1980. They where in the process of finishing up the recording their album "Suffer for Sound" (which was never released and where this song is from) and began writing "Completion" and working on the concept around this time. Probably the first time they debuted the "suit" look to the public.
New wave for hippies
I love The Tubes 💜👑🎶
Me too
By far the best live vid of da TUBES on UA-cam.
Their stage shows were absolutely amazing/hilarious/demented.
God Bless the poster!!!!!!!!!!
Been waiting for like 43 years for this!!!
Love you Vinny - RIP.
Prairie Prince is a beast.
Saw them in 1976 in Boston.
Prairie was so unbelievably good. Love the Tubes!
From the unreleased Black Album, 1980.
I played the hell out of T.R.A.S.H. in the early 80s,
(:
Were you a WPOD? 😂
Just pot, coke and acid. No one in my area sold heroin.
(:
@@ardiris2715 Glad you survived! 😁
For all the drugs my friends and I did, lung cancer killed most of them.
@@ardiris2715 Oof, that’s tough. 😢
I have never cared for their music, and they are really weird, but I have always recognized their high quality musicianship. Again though... they are quite weird...
The Tubes! They were cool! I remember She's a Beauty was a big hit. This is a lively 1980 performance! More please! 😎
She’s a Beauty is NOT technically a Tubes song
That fame whore weasel, Fee Waybill used various other musicians from Toto and Chicago on the Master recording from what I’ve read.
Same with Talk to Ya Later
SHONDE FEE 🤬
Super rare unreleased song 👍
❤❤More tubes please and thanks 🤘🤘✌️✌️
Cool, I turned 6 years old the day this aired!
More Tubes please 👍
If that was live without tracks we should all bow down. But that keyboard guy was flailing a little heavy at the one point. Great theatre either way.
Yes, Fee's vocals were live but I think everything else was prerecorded.
So underrated!!!
Excellent 🎉
That's from the "Xanadu" episode. Cool.
yes they where the band, not the song.
Xanadu's a movie as well as a song.
Fee waybill is out of his mind.. they are very unique in their own way… they’ve got great songs if you dig deep
Prarie is brilliant. I saw him with Todd Rundgren in the early '80's.
Me, too. 💞
Enjoyed Prairie Prince & Todd,
Live,
in 2018, and 2019.
Fantastic harmonies
I love it when a bar band hits it big. Not huge (they blew some big opportunities) but I saw them in the 70's when they were touring with "smellavision". Tight, even tighter background vocals, and Fee was show stopper. And let's face it... that's a LOT of cocaine going on there.
Did this track ever appear on any album ?
Meant to appear on the “Suffer For Sound” album that was never officially released.
WPOD 😁
Only a Tubes fan would know
@curtisphilumalee1447 White punks on Dope. Not a fan but it was the only Tubes song I herd from them. Also, I knew the lead singer being Fee Waybill
And WDOP!
White punks on dope
I was waiting for that one.👍
These guys were so good. Prairie Prince on the drums!
Never seen them sing on a vid. Only heard record. Interesting. Did they always wear suits?
No, you should see what they wear in Xanadu.
@@Royale_with_Cheeze i will .thanks
Boy they miss Spooner
I didn't know they ever performed in suits and ties...maybe they were just getting back from court. I also didn't realize there were seven of them or was this a temporary lineup?
Before this they had a girl singer too.
@@adamc1966Re Styles?
Yes. Sadly passed away a few years ago.@@radish6691
@@adamc1966 Whoa. Didn't know that either. Do you know of any videos of her on yt?
@@willspies5869 search for Prime Time by the tubes. Came out in 1979.
Great stuff....but maybe the guys should switch to De-Caf before going on stage??
Totally underrated group. The Tubes were excellent musicians and bat shit crazy. Loved these guys.
Dressed to Impress for sure.
They were highly entertaining, though.
Happy Friday 🥳 Thank you for sharing! 💖
Progressive punk
Too much, too late. Not rock just for fun
What a fun band. I remember she's a beauty playing on the radio, great band great songs
Also "talk to ya later" was a radio hit about the same time...
Saw them a few times with my late friend Eddie Munster back in 2011,2012,2013 at a small club in Shirley Mass..
Fee Waybill is such a funny guy...
Holy freakin hell is this not the most underrated band in music or what?
Not one of their better songs 🫤
WHAT ⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️😟🤨🤨🤨
Guess we will have to agree to disagree on that!
@@berniehobabykat Yes I think so. Lol
Good tune...unfortunately this isn't live.
Yeah, but they did a good job acting .
Yeah, I find myself getting more and more disappointed by TMS, but it does give us some idea what these bands would look like live.
Lead vocals are live.
For whatever reason, in the later years, there were more live lead vocals over recorded music tracks. Not sure why.
Not live? Fee’s voice fades at 0:40 when the mic gets away from him.
