The directionality of these drivers and the way they function is different as well. Exciters turn material into resonance amplifyers rather than using a membrane. The result is somehow more "real" sound, louder, and better responses across a wider range dependent on the materials you use and the shapes and textures. Exciters are also worlds less expensive to build with. Definately worth a look.
😀I did most of it while the house was being sheet rocked so I didn't have anything else to do. The last week of the theater the sheetrock was done and the wife was giving me "the Look" 😆. Now I'm on the house doing doors and trim so we can paint.

I’ve did A lot of research into possibly using this or similar system in my previous media/ home theater room a few years ago and most of the manufacturers only sell to pro installers and contractors. This company is about the only one consumers can buy directly from I believe.
Every one has a different budget. I have clients that have 20k to drop just on the bed layer. Of course I'm much more limited in budget than that. That said if you have a simple design and don't have a lot of extra track it's not too bad. It's quick to install and most importantly it's a lot cheaper than having to remove trim and columns if you want to swap fabric or a speaker goes out. Some companies charge a lot more than Fabric Mate. This hobby is not a cheap one and IMO the small price you'd pay for track is a minimal part of most budgets.
Great job, If you can in your next video can you explain the installation process for TRIAD speakers. I see you haven't install your Triad LCR yet. I'm looking at going with those but they don't have the normal cat claw system. Thxs
Yeah I'm actually about to edit the video for the system and speakers and show them off. The LCR will be installed last after carpet but I can definitely video it.
Can't wait to do this on my next theater room when the new house is done being built (spring hopefully). I scored 16 pieces of that duct board for $40 at an unclaimed freight auction!

I bought it from acoustimac. The track is from fabric mate with a a link in the description. Velvet is probably too thick to force into the track but you may get it to work. It'll be tight. Ductboard is the exact same material used in most brand name acoustic panels. In this room and in my plans the duct board is modified where need to create a few different types of combo panels as well.
does the duct board absorption panels occupy more than 30-40 cent on each side of the wall? you said in other videos to not overtreat the room? what am i missing here?
@@chandan6119 absorbtion isn't a scatter plate. Absorption is absorption. This room is a good bit more advanced that your average theater would have. And no I don't have close to even 40 percent absorption. You absorb only where you need to or where its benifical.

Wow this is inspiring. Amazing work man! Hey can you do an episode about those triads on walls. The angled front wides look dope the way it’s angled towards the listening position with a thick piece of dampening material on the side of it. Did that come out out of the box like that or did you rig that up yourself? Also what’s the mounting depth?
Thanks! Yeah Triad has their crap together. It's angled perfectly at the MLP. That is straight out of the box and mounted in the wall. It's a 6" deep enclosed speaker. It uses the exact same drivers as the rest of the surrounds and rears. I'll be uploading the next video soon that covers the speakers better including the huge Atmos speakers I'm using.
You must have read my mind, I was just about to research fabric tracks so perfect timing! Is the fabric you use treated to be flame retardant etc? Just thinking some normal fabrics could go up pretty quick god forbid the worst happened.

Thanks! It's all DMD fabric. A mixture of the Suede and standard line.
What do you think about using exciters to build suspended flat pannel foam speakers for a theater room?
I actually may play around with a DIY platform called the Hover BOSS. It's similar to what you're describing.

You're not seeing the completed panels or room treatments and I didn't show them on purpose. So that's what you're missing. 😉.
