No One knows the story of Picard return. Worf could be a part of it too. Let's wait avd see. Also let's not forget Michael Doran got the call to be a deep space nine regular no other next generation cast member did.
+John H The already filmed footage had already been released years ago. (Even the unfinished episodes) All they had left was about a season worth of scripts..and some of those finally get animated. So in any real sense they do bring cone wars back, with new animation and new recorded lines
Yea theres old unfinished footage on youtube that you can see finished in the new trailer. Its cool, this will be the final chapter in star wars george lucas had direct involvement in.
Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God!!!! Sir Patrick Stewart, you are a classy man in so many ways. You ARE Jean Luc Picard but you are so much more. Your acting ability and your humanity and caring is what makes you so loved. What you bring to Shakespeare is what lights up the passion. What you bring to Xavier is the same passion. What you bring to every role is class. You will never be limited to a single role but you will feel the love and respect for every role you take on. I'd watch you open a shopping mall. Pure class, pure passion for all of your 78 years.
@The Amazing Mike lee Stop with that original SJW bullshit. Star trek was never about SJW nonsense at least how it's used these days. They broke new ground they did new things but they never stood on a soapbox for 25 of the 30 minutes per episode beating the audience over the head with political BS....it was there but subtle not the hatred filled nonsense you see today.
I can’t believe we’re finally going back to the 24th Century. Thank the Star Trek gods. Now all I need is a Will Riker series on the Titan and I’ll die a happy man.
And the lean. Can't forget the Riker lean. Putting his foot on the console. All the RIkerisms. Frakes was great as Riker, and he's a great director. Have him do a guest shot on the show or reoccuring doing something in the plot and then he can direct a few episodes.
I was there, standing off by the left door. When Patrick came out I dropped a drink on the floor and began dancing like my team (Tigers) won the World Series. There were people crying, on knees, jaws-dropped. That was a cool experience.
We’ve lost so many actors/ artists that have shaped memories for us 30+ generations... it is good to see some icons coming back and Star Trek fan or not... go and see it.
YES! ... We live in a wonderful age where going BACK to fan favourite characters and giving fans what they WANT happens a lot. Sometimes the results are mixed, and sometimes it works perfectly ... I have a feeling returning to TNG universe will be a perfect decision and adventure. Ending that incredible story with Nemesis NEVER felt right ... The characters deserved more ... Picard deserved FAR more, and with Stewart seemingly being cautious and heavily involved, I don't see this being a disappointment.
2018 DOESN’T SUCK SO BAD AFTER ALL, PICARD IS ACTUALLY COMING BACK, I JUST GOT DONE WATCHING ST: TNG FOR THE 9TH TIME, FINALLY MY WISHES HAVE COME TRUE, THANK YOU ZENU
Patrick's anecdote about the cop encapsulates why Next Gen is infinitely better than STD. No one would ever look to that show as a beacon of light, and in 20-30 years time no one will care or talk about it. TNG and Picard are the epitome of Star Trek and the philosophy behind it. An example of humanity at its best, populated with inspirational and admirable characters. Whenever people still talk passionately about fiction decades after it was made, you know it means something far beyond simply being a TV show.
Yup. Somewhere along the show-runners on CBS Paramount lost their way and made ST just another 'pew pew' scifi series w/dark and gritty plotlines, be it JJ Abrams Trek verse or DSC. Today, the closest embodiment of Star Trek's spirit as envisioned by Gene Roddenberry as portrayed in TOS/TNG is a series Seth MacFarlane produced at Fox that officially does not have a 'Star Trek' designation but looks and sounds like classic Trek in every shape and form.
Jean Luc is right. Star Trek is a vehicle of much needed hope and good values. Facing tragedy and meeting lifes challenges is easier with Star Treks TNG
What a moving speech. Heartfelt and honest, just like the show. I never was a fan of any of the other incarnations (sorry, trekkies), but I have such respect for TNG, and feel like it gives a glimpse into what the human experience should/could be. Thank you, Captain!
I remember in the early 90s working in the north sea. we would do 12hr shifts, have something to eat and then everyone would watch ST TNG. then go to bed .it united the rig . we all loved JLP and the crew
I grew up with him. Now I am overwhelmed with emotion at the thought of seeing him in that role again. TNG meant a lot and I hope he can bring back a new version of those moments so my kids can look back and say “yeah, I learned something watching Star Trek with my dad.”
It’s Captain Jean Luke Picard, that gave me the ambition to write the thesis I have, which are actually being used today. Wonderful man that gave me a reason to live again.
I didn't expect this at all, and I'll admit that I cried, in which there is no shame, as the captain cried as well. Shared feelings about Star Trek: The Next Generation, bind more people and generations together than one would suspect, and that is the greatness of it. It gives me, just like it did the police detective from Patrick Stewart's anecdote, a new hope. And by Spock's ears, do we need that.
September 1990 ... If it wasn’t for Star Trek: The Next Generation and seeing it on BBC-2 at 6pm ... and I’d seen the films, I’d enjoyed them, and I’d even seen one on the big screen, but I thought... I’ve never been a ‘Trekkie’ I’d as I’ve said been aware of Star Trek, watched some of the episodes and liked them, but I thought I loved to watch them, and I thought, hmmm I’ll give this a spin. I was working a part-time job at night... and you know what? I fell in love with *STAR TREK* I loved the books, I loved the comics... and I really, truly fell in love with Gene Roddenberry’s vision for the future. God bless Star Trek, God bless Patrick Stewart.
Well said! I too fondly looked forward to BBC2, 6pm, every Wednesday night. I was 7 years old and allowed to eat dinner in front of the TV just so I could watch the show live. Fast forward I'm now 35 and still an avid fan of the franchise!
Same here, I love the show. they were the highlight of my day back then and Im still a huge fan. Im very happy seeing Patrick returning as Picard and are very excited of what he will face this time :)
I'm trying to temper my excitement just a bit because of how I've felt about trek in recent years, but it Sir Stewart promises passion and appreciation I'm gonna muster all the optimism I have left. I know that these days I could sure as hell use the boost.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU for capturing this iconic moment on video. I can't wait to see Picard back on TV. I'm hoping you have an Enterprise panel video, I love that cast and miss hearing them talk about their series that was cut down in its prime. Thank you in advance.
Aside from having Patrick Stewart/Captain Picard back, what's really exciting is the idea of new FUTURE Star Trek. For many years now they've been doing reboots and even the last 2 series are set in the past and not after the latest film in the Star Trek timeline.
Outstanding annnouncement! He really is a great actor and I hope many of you have seen his non Star Trek work and lucky enough to have seen some of his wonderful stage work during the last 20 years. Of course he was famous on UK TV long before Star Trek in the 'I Claudius' series. Couldn't you just hear; faintly, off in the distance... Shatner screaming: "SSSTEWWWARRRT!!" ;)
It's about time we got captain picard or as Brent Spiner calls him old baldy 😂 as he was explaining to a young ensign about a well known Captain in the star trek Franchise. Jokes aside they are finally listening to the fans and have a chance to fill in the gaps from the last movie, Voyager returning home and open up new avenues for new shows to baldy go where no one has gone before. They have alot of resources to draw on including star trek online, novels and fan made shows which has laid a good foundation to work from. Those shows not only give those actors who stared in them a chance to shine but allows fresh blood into the franchise to continue the voyages. Welcome back ☺
12:20, this is why i love star trek, all other shows and movies us all about dark and gloomy futures with no hope but Roddenberry had a vision and believed in hope for the future
Wow can’t wait! TNG, and of course Voyager and DS9 later, were very impactful even to a teenage me back in the early 90s. It was THE show that my dad and I made time to watch together (no DVR back then). They steered me toward science as a force for good, steered me through college, and then into a career as a biologist. Now I rewatch the shows regularly on Netflix with my son. This will definitely be on our to watch list, as well. PS. I did actually enjoy Enterprise, as well. But I was in college at the time and didn’t have much time to watch it regularly. That show ended too soon, just as it was getting really really good.
I was there for the announcement and it was awesome. Im hoping since I am not a huge discovery fan, the new series he will participate in will be more my style.
I died a little. I lived a little. I cried but I also laughed. Besides feeling a lot of emotions none of this matters to me. What matters to me is "Make it so"
there was a story about him about 5 yrs ago. He always wanted his Captain Picard red/black uniform. He asked Paramount & they always told him ,No. He said that he would never give up until Paramount gave him his Starfleet Uniform. The story kept going back & forth that he really wanted his Captain Picard Uniform. Finally Paramount gave in..but Paramount "Made him buy his Starfleet uniform! Patrick got really mad! He didn't want to pay. Paramount was still telling him that it was the only way he would get his Captain Picard suit. So now all this trouble he has the Suit. he displays it in his home as part of the Tv show and part of the character that he played! God Bless you Sir!
I am so glad he is coming back. I grew up watching TNG every week at 8pm it was always before bed because I had school in the am lol good ole 90s and he is right. He is very inspiring and has helped a lot off People through rough times. I have been watching TNG and Voyager again. But TNG has kept me from saying enough. There is a future for me and everyone. I can not wait to see what Sir Patrick and discovery’s creators have in store for Captain Jean-Luc Picard .
Please! For all that is holy and sacred, hire good writers!! Those touching moments in TNG happened because of GOOD WRITING...the writers knew their classic science fiction writing from Arthur C. Clarke, H.G. Wells, and others well. They were adept at weaving the human, emotional element as a critical ribbon into their story lines...which is what makes good science fiction. CHEERS and best wishes to the writers, cast, and fans. Let us take what comes in stride and celebrate the good moments so Star Trek can reenergize the hopeful optimism of its fans. Please don't just make it so-so...Make it so!
I wonder how they will continue from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It will be interesting to see what Picard has been up to after the events of the series finale. Old man Picard!!!!!. The honest from Patrick Stewart is what makes him so special. He is humble and grateful for the success of Star Trek The Next Generation gave him.
As excited as I am for this, when he said that Jean Luc would be a very different person, shaped from his experiences 20 years later; I just got flashbacks to some of the things Mark Hamill said during the press junkets for Last Jedi. Leaves me a little concerned.
Andrew Ford Have faith! Worked out fantastic for Lukes character. It shows it can be done. I'm sure they will work hard on making JLP as good as possibile. No half assing.
grew up watching TNG and as long as they keep their promise of keeping the material for the fans and it doesnt end up like Discovery, I will pay for CBS all access.
because it's not a very good show and people would prefer they not make this one terrible as well. Do you have any other questions I can help you with?
Matthew Prendergast Trek fans shouldn't be so pathetic. If you got a problem with people hating on Discovery, give reasons why you think it's good Trek. Negotiate and be a diplomat, like Gene would want.
John Nappa. Fine fair point. In my humble opinion Star Trek is not so much about exploring the stars as it is about exploring the human soul and what it means to be human. I think Discovery did a good job exploring what it means to be human since you saw Burnham, who was raised by Vulcans, attempt to rediscover her human identity. Then of course we explore what it means to be human even more when we go to the Mirror Universe and see the comparisons/contrasts between humans of Prime Universe and Terrans. There are other ways Discovery explores the human soul but I think I have made my point. If you disagree with me and still don't think it's good Trek or even Trek at all fine. It's your choice. I just get so worked up over this cause it aggravates me to see how much the people who hate Discovery get so triggered by anything mentioning Discovery and make every Star Trek post/video about bashing Discovery even if it has nothing to do with Discovery. I'll be the first to admit I should try to not get so upset and try to have a dialogue with the people who don't like Discovery. The problem is I don't think the Discovery haters are interested in having a dialogue they just want to bash Discovery and say it's an STD. (As if these people calling it an STD are so clever and original, but of course they aren't.)
Maybe he will become a regular citizen considering the length of time between the last films and now, he could have retired and maybe feels a sense of loss for some of the next gen cast (we know Data died, maybe more will be reported that they have) so a few episodes could be spent covering that and then for reasons we don't know yet he may come out of retirement and back into a Starfleet role but not as what he once was.
78 years old... like damn! He's probably on of the fittest and sharpest 78 year old on the planet.
And it will be one heck of a payday for a 78 year old. If he's smart he'll negotiate a percentage share of the profits and merchandise too.
"I'm so tired of this shit." -Michael Dorn in full makeup and costume, sitting next to his phone waiting for it to ring
yeah i can imagine him now; like ohh god xD
Captain worf or ambassador worf can still happen! Especially now!
No One knows the story of Picard return. Worf could be a part of it too. Let's wait avd see. Also let's not forget Michael Doran got the call to be a deep space nine regular no other next generation cast member did.
Michelle Forbes (Ensign Ro) was asked - she declined.
Lol that reminds me of tobias funke in the blue man group makeup
Star Wars: We are bringing back Clone Wars.
Star Trek: Hold my beer...
Lynch85 rofl.
CBS just dropped the mic.
They're not bringing back clone wars, they're just finishing it properly using already filmed footage.
John H if you don't know facts, kindly don't open your mouth and spit nonsense.
I am a very small 38 years old man, sitting on my kitchen crying of joy. That's Star Trek
Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God!!!! Sir Patrick Stewart, you are a classy man in so many ways. "HOLY SHIT!"
Gotta love those guys how always shout the best things when it's quiet XD
Please return to the episodic structure. Bring back the optimism. Bring back the hope. The world needs the TNG vision now more than ever.
No they all want Game of Thrones desperation in every shows and they want sjw BS wall to wall!
The Amazing Mike Lee , bring back Gene Roddenberry from the dead? He was the visionary.
Peter Tremblay TNG was the original "SJW", so I don't quite know where you're coming from there. Heck, TOS was the original "SJW" platform.
Voyager, best trek show after tng was an sjw shitshow by todays standerds but i love voyager though coz i discovered it as a kid
Prince Goro Yes let’s go back to the good Trek please!
I wonder what ever happened to the Worf series
i am a huge TNG fan, but Frakes was/is a god awful actor.
he needs to stick to directing where he shines.
Sigh Phi Guy I respect your opinion, but I love his character. I would gladly watch a Riker series. I’ve missed that iconic head tilt. 😂
The trial never ended, Jean-Luc.
Jerry113 ha!!!! Very true Q :-)
Don't tease me, man.
We’ve lost so many actors/ artists that have shaped memories for us 30+ generations... it is good to see some icons coming back and Star Trek fan or not... go and see it.

Martyn Stembridge Agreed. Nemesis was an awful way to end TNG. Only thing I liked was Riker and Troi finally marrying.
I hope Picard and Dr Crusher will finally tie the knot in the new Trek series
2018 DOESN’T SUCK SO BAD AFTER ALL, PICARD IS ACTUALLY COMING BACK, I JUST GOT DONE WATCHING ST: TNG FOR THE 9TH TIME, FINALLY MY WISHES HAVE COME TRUE, THANK YOU ZENU

DS9 does that better than any other series.
Make it so!
ENGAGE!!
I am Locutus of Borg.

I remember in the early 90s working in the north sea. we would do 12hr shifts, have something to eat and then everyone would watch ST TNG. then go to bed .it united the rig . we all loved JLP and the crew
I am stoked! Can't wait...long live Jean Luc Picard!
Yes! A proper continuation of the original time line. No reboot, no prequel rubbish. Boldly going where no one has gone before.
I grew up with him. Now I am overwhelmed with emotion at the thought of seeing him in that role again. TNG meant a lot and I hope he can bring back a new version of those moments so my kids can look back and say “yeah, I learned something watching Star Trek with my dad.”

My favorite captain~ Whatever media they decide to release this in, I'm paying for it.
Awesome! I I loved TNG growing up. Captain Picard was like my father-figure.
He just doesn't age, how is that even possible!
He's a Time Lord

Bloody brilliant surprise so looking forward to it!!!!
Fantastic. Looking forward to it.
This was incredible to see. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing!! Happy Trekkie from Australia :D
There are four lights!
FOUR. LIGHTS.
I see only 3 lights
THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!!
I have waited for this moment for a long time.
thanks for posting this...
Thank you for capturing and sharing this moment for those who couldn't be there in person.
I cried a little! Can't wait for it!
best day ever!!! welcome back Captain!!!!
I am so stoked right now... I can't effin deal!! Thank you SPS / JLP!
I’ve watched this twice and I cannot get enough of it, I’m dying to see what’s next!
I think this is the #1 best piece of news i've ever heard!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU for capturing this iconic moment on video.
I can't wait to see Picard back on TV.
I'm hoping you have an Enterprise panel video, I love that cast and miss hearing them talk about their series that was cut down in its prime.
Thank you in advance.
I needed some good news. Can’t wait.

OMG i am sooooooooooooooooooo excited D: Patrick for the saving of the franchise !!! i knew i could count on him :-)
a great video, love this man.
Not having much of a father growing up. Jean-Luc Picard was a father figure to me. Taught me the values of how to be a man. Thank you Patrick Stewart.
wow. I never considered myself a fan of the series, let alone an emotional one... yet here I am freakin out. This is wonderful, this is the best.
I absolutely *adore* this Man.
Thank you, Sir Patrick Stewart !
He was my dean at my university, Huddersfield. Glorious years!
God damn I love this man. I shed a tear of joy when I got the news he was returning to Trek.
Such awesome wonderful news , coming to me right after I watched the very last episode of Star Trek enterprise.
It's about time we got captain picard or as Brent Spiner calls him old baldy 😂 as he was explaining to a young ensign about a well known Captain in the star trek Franchise. Probably the best news ive heard all year.
Oh Captain, my Captain!!!
This is the earliest I've ever been to a big Star Trek news....
Jean Luc Picard was and always will be my space dad.
I love this person. I love him.
there was a story about him about 5 yrs ago. He always wanted his Captain Picard red/black uniform. that show made a head way on so many issues of society
The "Holy Sh*t" comment right before he speaks? Priceless!
best news of the year =D
I'm really crying with this news. I just hope that new show be so good as TNG.
Can't wait! =)
A Dream come True - Unbelievable !!
What a time to be alive!
I love this..🤩🤩
When Patrick/Picard. speaks..... he speaks gold
I was there, it was amazing!
he´s back...he´s back...yah yah yah!!!
Welcome back, "Sean Luke" ;-)
Mr. Clean! To boldly clean what no other household cleaner has cleaned before!
LONG LIVE PICARD!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Justo estoy viendo todas las temporadas de the next Generation , adoro a Jean Luc !! Es el mejor capitán de todos !!!
grew up watching TNG and as long as they keep their promise of keeping the material for the fans and it doesnt end up like Discovery, I will pay for CBS all access.
Why do you people make everything about bashing Discovery? Please get a life.
You pay for CBSAA, you support STD.
because it's not a very good show and people would prefer they not make this one terrible as well.
I love this man
Admiral Picard.... Ambassador Picard OMG
I would love it if he just became a regular citizen
Maybe he will become a regular citizen considering the length of time between the last films and now, he could have retired and maybe feels a sense of loss for some of the next gen cast (we know Data died, maybe more will be reported that they have) so a few episodes could be spent covering that and then for reasons we don't know yet he may come out of retirement and back into a Starfleet role but not as what he once was.
Archeologist Picard. Forgot that one.
Pickle Rick Picard.
Headmaster Picard - Starfleet Academy
Hopefully Jonathan Frakes will get a big hand in direction and production.
Richard Hammer he is.
Excellent, hoping canon will near enough be adhered to!
Yes !!!! If you dont like it then dont watch. I for one cant wait!!!
La mejor noticia que he visto el día de hoy es increíble 😥
You just know that whatever they come up with is going to be great!
There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the Enterprise D is the finest space vessel in science fiction.
