Im glad the video was helpful! I know of some who have only waited 1 year or most 1.5years but then i know of others who are still waiting 3years later. After a year goes by it doesnt hurt to make sure your name is still on the waitlist.

How i feel about epsom is totally subjective i know of some people who love it but for me my experience using the leather on a Kelly and a Constance it has some tendancies that bother me i.e. scratches with nails are easy to do by accident and refurbishment on lots of little scratches is still visible if you look closely. Those kind of things bother me i rather a bag to show surface scratches that blend with some conditoning and patina overtime; an effect that happens with use over time natural oils mesh with the leather causing it to have a kind of gloss look - more prominent in box calf/barenia/Vache Natural but still happens with non laminated leathers like swift.

This is one of the best comparison of the Kelly. I've been thinking of getting the Kelly 25, but which leather and hardware would you recommend for a non-fussy use? After seeing your video, I definitely would buy the retourne due to bigger capacity and ease of use. I don't think I like the Epsom leather either even though it's more weather resistant. I sold most of my LV bags with vachetta leather because I just couldn't handle the water spots and worrying about rain and splashing water public restroom sinks (haha). Also, do gold hardware peel or show more wear in Hermes bags? i.e. do the gold hardware show more wear than the silver? Thank you!!!
Hi hun if you are going with retourne i would definitely say Togo is the best option for "less-fuss". It can withstand some water exposure just dry it when you are out of the rain; i do this with my swift using my clothes haha. As long as u let it dry before putting the bag away it will be fine nothing like LV Vachetta. As for hardware i have seen PHW subject to tarnishing more so than GHW but this is in very old bags e.g. 10years old at least and it could be that they left the stickers on the hardware too long and water got underneath; so dont let that affect what hardware you choose it will be fine either way just dont leave stickers on if u see them bubbling in anyway or get caught in rain/moisture. Hope this helped!
Ya the sellier is pretty awesome i prefer how it looks but when it comes to using retourne or sellier i find the retourne i can be more careless with and the corners don't get banged up so easily. But the sellier is more aesthetically beautiful
This video is super helpful but still leave me indecisive 🤷♀️. Ok so I have a few Hermes bags and I’m pretty borring as I general go for black bags🙈...I just like to play it safe. But Hermes has such gorgeous vibrant colour and I have finally decided to come out of my comfort zone and one bright colour bag in my collection! Problem is I love so many colours lol. So not only deciding on where I want a 25k or 25b I’m having a hard time deciding on colour. I like reds and orange and yellows. I’m thinking yellows, the ‘lime’. I’d love to you your opinions if possible, if you went for lime then would it be a k25 or b25 and if it was k25 then would it be sellier or retourne and which leather in each of those? Nice video. I don’t like epsom on bags. I wear a Kelly sellier in box for a formal event. The retourne is more informal so I use it for anything other than a formal event. That and my Bs are all in Clemence. I wouldn’t go past a K28 in either case.
Box is Beautiful! My wishlist bag to buy this year in resale market will be a k28 Chamonix, box or vache Natural. They become more beautiful with age 😍

I have a 28 CM in epsom sellier and a 32 CM retourne in veau leather. I think a 28 is the perfect size and I prefer the classic structure of he sellier.

Hi im glad you enjoyed it! When it comes to store buying it colour availability will depend also on size you want. Kelly 25-28 is harder to get in store due to demand but Kelly 32 is possible to get. Mostly always when it comes to Hermes you need to either get on the waitlist or build a good relationship with your SA to be offered a bag. Neutrals are always more sought after but they are still possible to get. There is alot of complications when it comes to Hermes store shopping i would like to film a video sharing my experiences and tips but my opinion may not be the same for everywhere as some stores get far more stock than others or cater to tourists. Either way I'll wait until after my next store bag to share my opinions 😊. Its hard to do a comparison with birkin vs kelly as i no longer have a Birkin bag but i would be happy to share my experiences in a video as to why i sold my birkins to get kelly bags as well as a video about common leathers and my experience with them including pro's/con's of each leather. Hopefully i can do all those videos soon i just ordered a new camera as filming on the phone was awfully annoying it would overheat 😅

Personally i can authenticate my own Hermes bags on photos but when i recieve the bag i always get it double checked for authenticity because you are spending so much. But i would suggest if you want to buy one resale pay for authentication before you buy get some photos of the bag and purchase authentication service with Real Authentication or Authenticate First (use email Authentication option so cheapest) . They may need more photos if what you supply isnt enough. Then when you get the bag i suggest you pay for Bababebi to do the Authentication (she had her own website just google her name). Always pay PayPal goods and services if buying a bag from a reseller you have never bought from.
I do agree with you the sellier looks much more elegant than the retourne giving it a very expensive look. Sellier has always been my favourite but now im starting to love retourne more or just the same at least as it seems to go well with my casual mum style as i dont go to any high class events or even high tea parties haha

It will depend on the leather. Clemence yes will slouch and wont hold shape however togo or swift when stored correctly can hold shape for years and years. If either of those two just be sure to either stuff it with a bagpuff style pillow or store in box when not in use. Clemence however will slouch with wear no matter how you store it, it will inevitably happen due to the weight of the leather.

sorry hun i totally forgot to weigh but i can tell you swift is much lighter and feels like nothing at all where as epsom is heavier. i really recommend swift because i like my bags when worn on shoulder to feel lightweight

This is so helpful. Definitely more of a sellier person myself. Also the e isn’t pronounced at the end of retourne. Also the sellier style only coming in stiffer leathers is not true. Even if it’s not a SO, it can still be sellier with Clemence or Togo or Swift. The give the bag has, has more to do with the leather as opposed to the style of the bag. Epsom being the most stiff among them. If you had two Togo bags, one retourne and one sellier, the give would be virtually the same. A birkin in Epsom is just as stiff and it isn’t in the sellier style. So it has to do with the leather more so than the stitching and style of the bag.

Yes it does have alot to do with the leather also having owned a ardennes leather kelly in retourne and then feeling that in a sellier i could still notice the Sellier in the same leather didnt have as much give as the retourne i owned. I had read on TPF that retourne was pronounced ret-our-nay but i no longer have a French born SA to clarify so just went off TPF advice👍
Purseonfleek BN is correct on retourne’s pronunciation. Just don’t pronounce the “ay”at the end. Depending on your climate, if you don’t want oxidation of your metal, take off the stickers. It’s far too expensive to replace.
@@LS-wh9rn yes i agree about the stickers i have been keeping an eye on them but my climate is very dry in Sydney Australia so i dont have any moisture at all and the room they are stored is cool and dry. But thats a good point people shouldnt just leave them on for the sake of protecting the hardware if they live in humid climates for me once they start to peel i will pull them off because doesnt look nice anyway lol

You’re not important just because you know how to pronounce the name of designer bags and her discussion about the edges of the bag was to help others to distinguish them from each other by HER opinion of the silhouette. She also didn’t say for sure it ONLY comes in certain leathers, but she stipulated that it’s MORE common in the softer leathers (5:02) based on the artisan turning the bag inside out. So if you’re going to visit peoples videos and low key promote yourself like a self-proclaimed expert critic, then you shouldn’t say anything at all because a wrong know-it-all is embarrassing, dear.
That's true however virtually all common leathers used for sellier are prone to scratches where as the leathers used for retourne like Togo don't scratch so easily.

K Z Correct me if I’m wrong. It is spelled “retourne,” without the accent egu, which is pronounced “ruh torn.” There is a spelling of retourné, but Hermes doesn’t use that spelling. I’ve spoken French for 40 years. I think the correct spelling is what dictates how it is pronounced.

This is so helpful. Definitely more of a sellier person myself. Also the e isn’t pronounced at the end of retourne. Also the sellier style only coming in stiffer leathers is not true. Even if it’s not a SO, it can still be sellier with Clemence or Togo or Swift. The give the bag has, has more to do with the leather as opposed to the style of the bag. Epsom being the most stiff among them. If you had two Togo bags, one retourne and one sellier, the give would be virtually the same. A birkin in Epsom is just as stiff and it isn’t in the sellier style. So it has to do with the leather more so than the stitching and style of the bag.

Yes it does have alot to do with the leather also having owned a ardennes leather kelly in retourne and then feeling that in a sellier i could still notice the Sellier in the same leather didnt have as much give as the retourne i owned. I had read on TPF that retourne was pronounced ret-our-nay but i no longer have a French born SA to clarify so just went off TPF advice👍
Purseonfleek BN is correct on retourne’s pronunciation. Just don’t pronounce the “ay”at the end. Depending on your climate, if you don’t want oxidation of your metal, take off the stickers. It’s far too expensive to replace.
@@LS-wh9rn yes i agree about the stickers i have been keeping an eye on them but my climate is very dry in Sydney Australia so i dont have any moisture at all and the room they are stored is cool and dry. But thats a good point people shouldnt just leave them on for the sake of protecting the hardware if they live in humid climates for me once they start to peel i will pull them off because doesnt look nice anyway lol

Sellier will last long and stay like new bag while retourne slouch and deform and strech as you use
That's true however virtually all common leathers used for sellier are prone to scratches where as the leathers used for retourne like Togo don't scratch so easily.
I just find the Kelly so much prettier than the Berkin

Thankyou yes there is conflicting pronunciation on the purseforum where some said its "nay" at the end. if i had not read that on TPF i would of just been saying re-torn like my usual aussie pronunciation of things lol

K Z Correct me if I’m wrong. It is spelled “retourne,” without the accent egu, which is pronounced “ruh torn.” There is a spelling of retourné, but Hermes doesn’t use that spelling. I’ve spoken French for 40 years. I think the correct spelling is what dictates how it is pronounced.
