Hey there. Nice Clip. It's made of 1000d cordura and small pieces of 500d (upper part of sideflaps and the back) and not as you mentioned from 500d+300d.
Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Really appreciate your correction regarding the CORDURA density. I'm going to pin your comment so others are more certain to see it. I've tremendously improved my attention to detail over the years but there are still fragments of my old personality remaining which routinely missed these obvious and important details... I'm working on it! I've used other packs made of 300D, 500D and never felt compromised. I would still purchase this pack if it were made of 300D, and now knowing that it isn't, wish that it was! Cheers
Hey man, awesome video and really enjoyed your „ramblings“. 😄 Got my Kahakka 25 for two days now and really enjoyed the format and perspective instead of just showing the features (Tim Keys is also what got me to buy this pack) but now after starting to use it it’s awesome to hear someone else’s use cases and perspective. Mine is mainly just for standard every day use as well and it really is versatile and modular. Was surprised how well it carried loaded up quite heavy on a bicycle ride today with the hip belt really securing it all. All the best from Germany!
So glad you found the video helpful and that you are enjoying your pack. It's one of those special items which become an 'instant classic' as soon as its released. These packs will accompany us on many adventures and help create many great memories. Thanks for watching and take care. Cheers!
Thanks for the love man, I greatly appreciate it. And as for production, it will always stay in Europe. From human rights all the way to the ability to order smaller batches with faster delivery times, the pros of European production greatly outweigh the cons. Plus, they are just plainly reasonable and lovely people up there at Savotta. Good luck on your journey my dude :)
Thank you Tim! Made in Europe is making a come back for sure and it feels great to support companies and communities who are leading the charge. Best wishes!
I really enjoyed watching this video. It was very pleasant that there wasn't a cut every x seconds, but that the video was divided into logical, longer sections. It was also delightful to listen to your thoughts. The whole video felt like a relaxing, deep breath after a long, exhausting day. Best regards from Germany.
Thank you for sharing that. There have been weeks where I was so sick or injured that I could barely leave my bed. Watching Ray Mears and bushcraft product review videos got me through those challenging moments. I've always wanted to give something back to the community and it is so touching to learn that this content brought you some relief. More to come. Best wishes!
I highly respect and love your approach in this video. I bought the Kahakka recently, almost on the spur of the moment because I am Finnish and I need to connect with my roots, plus I wanted a smaller pack. I have big packs for multi day bush stays which I do frequently. My carrying needs are different from yours. I need to carry a book and journal and writing implements. I won't be using this pack until the fall. I live in bush country so I spend a lot of time in the woods. I won't complain about your pronunciation of Finnish words because that would be indecent but I always notice the distinction. The price to me is irrelevant. I do not drive. I either walk or bike. I feel your life choices are wonderful and admirable. A joy to watch your video. I don't hunt but I have no objection to such a necessity. Best wishes to you. I subscribed so I hope to catch you again. Lastly stay happy.
I’m grateful for your thoughts and support. Happiness is a choice, and to choose it when times are tough takes practice. I’ve been at it for a while now and must say I’m getting bloody good at it! See you next time and safe travels.
Thanks for that more detailed talk, i appreciate the thoughts on sustainability and versatility pretty much, there is one more box where savotta did a check, it is classic style. Greetings from Germany!
Thanks JJ, really appreciate the positive energy and kind words. Doing my best to bring you guys more content but there's one last hurdle in my way before I do. Stay tuned!
Thank you very much for all the Infos Brother! I was very curious about It. Your review has helped me to decide to buy It! I agree with you completely about "Time Horizon" and the reasonable price if it will be your bag for years and if you assume that you'll use it daily.. for years. Thanks again for you precious informative contribute. Big up from Northern Italy.
Oh man I just stumbled on this video and I'm in agreement with all of your conclusions. I own the Jaakari S (3 years daily), and Kahakka 15 + 25. The Jaakari S is indeed a 'slinky' pack and not to be compared 1:1 imo. It sits in between the 15 and 25l size-wise and functions very differently. Also came to the same conclusion as you with the M and L. Swapped those out for [now] Kahakka daypack & summer/minimal overnight, and a 50l Fjallraven Keb for winter and mountain trips. The Kahakka is ridiculously versatile and moddable yet quite civilian friendly :D A lot of packs have so many features they can only do one thing. Thus far I've made two quick-change mods to run the Kahakka with a padded molle belt or an external frame. In this sense, it completely transforms into two new harness-based packs for heavier gear or comfort on longer treks. Bless Savotta, less is more! Comfy vid mate, subbed!
Thanks so much for your support and kind words. I’m still new to all this and it’s really motivating to receive your positive feedback. Have heard lots of good things about the Keb 50L. Wow, rigging up the Kahakka with a padded belt/external frame is an awesome idea and absolutely takes it to a whole new level. Just when I thought it couldn’t be any more versatile… Top stuff man. Thanks again. Cheers

Hello there! I'm trying to deside between the Kahakka 25 and the MR 2DAP. I'm 1.98 m tall (6ft 6'') and i'm worried about the Kahakka not having an adjustable torso length harness, as the MR has with it's Futura harness. I'm planning to use the backpack for edc and day hikes. The maximum weight that i'm going to carry will be 10-12 kg (most days the weight will be bellow 6kg). Have you ever tried the MR 2DAP and how would you compare it to the Savotta in terms of comfort and quality? Thank you in advance, Greetings from Greece!
@@gregorykatzilakis1409 I think I’m getting the MR 2DAP. My reasoning is the compression strap is higher on the bag to synch down on longer items without bobbling around everywhere. The pockets also have an elastic band type system. I like the idea of the side clip system for the compression straps versus the G hook on the Kahaka. Extra exterior lid pockets is a plus and the shoulder straps look cooler, interior organizer pockets and the Y zipper system looks unique.
@@Bryan24k8 I agree! Just keep in mind that when the pack isn't fully loaded, it folds/creases funny where the Y zippers meet. Just an FYI... Nothing special but I feel that I need to mention that.. Other than that it's a great looking pack especially in the foliage color that I got.
Hi guys, My apologies for my poor response time here There’s too many variables regarding sizing for me to provide a confident answer and would recommend contacting Savotta directly. Off the cuff, I’d say it’s not an issue. I respect MR but the 2 Day Assault pack seems a bit too complicated for my preferences and something just isn’t sitting right with me about it… A military bag with such dedicated civilian features (laptop sleeve and laptop side zipper) suggests to me that it is trying to accomplish too many things at once. My personal experience with bags is the ‘multi-functional’ approach to usually isn’t ideal in the long run and some features become cumbersome The Kahakka is purpose built for soldiers and serves that function fully without distractions. And it accomplishes that purpose so well that it also happens to be a good daypack too. It’s so simple and this is why it is pure genius I think my best advice is to just accept that no bag is perfect and you may need to try different ones to gain greater understanding of what you really need. Both are great and you’ll be happy with either. Hope that helps and thanks for watching
1000D is overkill even for military tbh. 500D is absolutely chonky. Ive had the jaakari S and L and I agree with your conclusions. The Kahakka fixed everything wrong with the Jaakari S imo. I'm hoping to turn it into a concise overnight pack with the askare as a hip pack.
Bang on, that's it! Truthfully I've been using the askare as as purse around town and it's the right size for my books and bobs. Haven't paired it with the Kahakka yet but there's no doubt they will harmonize. Cheers
1000D is for sure overkill in many places, not for what this pack was designed for. The Kahakkas are made to stand up to some pretty horrible use at times, carrying ammunition boxes and other terrible stuff and getting thrown/dragged across rocks and gravel is something that 1000D stands up to way better than 500D. Same goes for the side pouches and stuff like E-tools etc. 500D could for sure handle this sort of stuff for some time, but 1000D will handle it better and longer. On the other hand stuff like the Hatka 12L and our new hip packs are 500D, because those shouldn't be subjected to such horrors on a daily basis. We always put some thought into material selection, and sometimes hard times just call for that extra durability of 1000D.
I love how thoughtful and honest Savotta’s response was. 500d is claimed to have weight savings but it’s actually very minimal. 500d is cheaper so companies like to push the idea that 500d is good enough and 1000d is not needed, and it’s overkill, blah blah.. I will take 1000d any day over 500d along with durability over cost and weight savings. Keep up the good work Savotta!
Anything made from fabric I treat the same and do the following when I feel like it: spot clean using natural soap, hang to air-dry in a sheltered outdoor location, burn loose threads with a match, avoid prolonged exposure to extreme moisture and heat (washer/dryer machines). But mainly just treat your items with respect as if they were living beings
