Katy you truly have no idea how much this is helping me. Im a single 28 year old woman moving next march. Ive already been to dubai 4-5 times and my parents live there but all these little things I didnt think about are so valuable. I followed you on instagram. Hope to see more of you soon!
Im not even moving Dubai but your video series has been so insightful that its making me want to find a job and move out there! really great stuff - keep it going. I wonder if you could do a video on how you move money back to the UK? (if you do that), when you travel back to UK do you use your UK or UAE bank card to spend? if I moved to Dubai I would like to keep my UK home (potentially rented out) and transfer cash back to overpay the mortgage.
Sorry for the additional comment but had a few more thoughts that you may wish to talk about in the next video (if you have one planned). Do you still calculate prices in £ when you're buying in AED, or are you now used to just going by AED? Have you had much interactions with expats with children? how is there experience? what sort of admin tasks did you need to consider before you made the move? (I'm thinking, changing address for UK banks, HMRC, pensions, Medical etc // what to do with outstanding student loans // commitments like UK mobile phone contracts // the mobile phone number itself)
Hey! aw thanks so much for your comment, i'm so glad you found it useful. i definitely could have benefitted from knowing about these random & subtle areas of navigating life in dubai haha =) if you do decide to move, i wish you alllll the best wishes in the world 🌷✨🌇
Interesting cultural information! I have a question regarding single women, tattooed women, clothing styles and how these things are perceived. I’m an ex tattoo artist, 42, now a web developer, and I am considering visiting Dubai for a while. Do you have any suggestions, advice or insights you could share? I currently live in Canada but I am originally from Chile 🇨🇱. I have visited other Arabic countries in the past (Jordan), but was accompanied by someone from there.
I think I would also love the multicultural element of living there.. that’s something I miss with being here (USA) I would say. I also chuckle at how polite we are as Brits (almost to the point of being overly apologetic ie if someone holds the door the hurried little dash to not waste the other person’s time 😂).. this is someone I truly love about you , is that you stay true to yourself and ALWAYS show kindness. In one of your videos I really loved how you filmed a waiter at a brunch and notably thanked him (I’ve seen a couple of similar videos where people film the workers making cool treats etc but don’t bother to thank them!) Keep being you! ❤xxx
Hey Kia! Oh how exciting! Sure - if you watch my first 'moving to dubai' video, I talk through how to get a job in Dubai 🫶 I'll link it below: ua-cam.com/video/Y_yXnKzL0OU/v-deo.html
I'm Indian and want to move to UK/Dubai. My 1st preference is UK and 2nd preference is Dubai. Watching your videos to get info and the comparison between UK and Dubai. I would like to ask you, What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Hey Krittika, ah wow, what an amazing opportunity for you! UK or Dubai - 2 of my very favourite places 🫶 Maybe I should do a video on the comparison of both places but the things that come straight to mind are: Dubai: - The safety. I feel so unbelievably safe here, in any location and at any time of the day. I am amazed by how safe it is to live in Dubai. - The opportunity. In the UK you pay income tax and pay can also be capped. In Dubai the earning potential seems to be endless! - The opportunity to meet new people. I feel like Dubai is very friendly and you can even make good friends with someone in the lift! I also love that I have this opportunity to meet people of all different cultures and religions. Where I am from in the UK, it isn't particularly diverse. UK: - The NHS!! (funded mainly by national insurance contributions). I love that everyone has access to the same standard of healthcare. - Minimum wage (and other employee rights). - The gorgeous green fields, the change of seasons, the accessibility of exploring! - Processes (lol sorry this one is so boring) but I do love me a good ol' process! You can easily find factual information online about how to do almost everything (government related) and you can access most services online. I love that I have been raised in the UK and I do think that the experiences, the people and the situations I've been exposed to in the UK, has instilled good values and a moral compass within me. I understand that not everyone has the chance to move to the UK, but Dubai literally welcomes everyone without half as many hoops to jump through. So if I were you, as much as I LOVE living in Dubai, I would move to the UK whilst the opportunity is there. I don't know for sure, but I believe Dubai will continue to welcome everyone for a very long time! Only you can make the right decision for you, and it's amazing you're doing all of your research, and even reaching out for other's opinions. Whatever you decide, I wish you all the very best and happiness in your future xx
