I have been in UAE 3 times as a tourist. It’s one of my favourite country. I decided to move UAE (Abu Dhabi ) soon Bcz Abu Dhabi is more traditional than Dubai. Can’t wait to leave USA soon. Thanks Katy.

Hi there! I'm planning to move to Dubai in few months but I'm not quite sure of some few things, Firstly You get your employment visa through you employer when you get the job right then , on your first days or months to look for an accommodate it's your Agency that will help you look for Accommodate or you have to do it yourself

in all honesty it depends on your employer but typically, your employer won't really help with finding you accommodation when you first arrive in dubai, nor will they help when you have your residency. typically, you'd organise your short term letting yourself via air b'n'b or similar, and then when you get your residency, you'd also organise your long term letting by yourself. but you never know, you may get a job with a really really helpful company!!
by the time you're ready to move into long term letting, you'd probably have a good idea of where you'd like to live due to where your friends and colleagues live, distance to work, & budget etc. but another thing to add - a lot of people rent rooms instead of whole apartments.. this keeps the cost down and means you can meet friends/socialise with like minded people! 😊

I'd love to know this too! I have a job offer and will be moving in June, I will be sponsoring my wife who will look for a job while there
hey Hannah - sure! i'll cover everything about my job in my next dubai vid 😊 the original plan was that my husband would sponsor me but actually.. we never ended up doing that 😅 as i extended my visa a few times, i flew back to the UK a few times, and i went on holiday a few times which therefore meant i spent my first year in and out of dubai, and on tourist visas!! xx
@Joshua Munn hey josh! ahh congrats ✨ if your visa is issued in dubai, you'll be able to apply for the sponsorship of your wife via the amer website. in order to sponsor your wife, you'll need these docs:
- marriage certificate attested by UAE authorities (has to be attested in your own country first)
- original passports and copies, of both you and your wife
- tenancy contract (basically to show that your wife has somewhere to live!)
- your emirates ID
- salary certificate with an attested work contract
- medical test report for your wife from an authorised clinic in dubai
- 3 x passport size photos of your wife
^ as it can take some time for you to get your emirates ID and a tenancy contract, your wife might need to exit the country to re-new her visa, to enable you time to get yourself sorted with a home and visa/EID ☺ hope that helps!

These videos have been very helpful thank you so much Katy, by any chance how hard is it to become a citizen of the UAE? I know the process of the Golden Visa, however there’s not to much information online for permanent residency so I won’t know how to go about that ether.
I know I was shocked when I saw people still signing cheques 😂😂 In Botswana, cheques have long been phased out. All our banking is digital and we live in Africa 😂😂!

I’ve been reading that renting property in Dubai, on top of the usual utility bills, there is usually a 5% fee of the rental amount that is paid monthly (kind of like a ‘UK council tax’)?
Could you confirm this so the case, and how does this apply or if this applies if you buy and own the property?
Hey hey! Thanks for watching and for your comment 💖 so the 5% fee is included within your DEWA bill (Dubai electricity and water authority) so whilst it’s something you pay, it’s not something you necessarily notice as it’s just one payment that includes your electric, water & the fee.
The fee is 5% of the annual rental value, but it’s charged annually not monthly. So say your rent is 100K (AED), you’ll pay 5000AED over the year, which works out to be around 416AED per month, roughly £90.
For our 1 bedroom, we pay roughly 1000AED for DEWA & Internet 😊 so £200 ish. And that is literally all our bills!
If you own the property, you will still pay 5% over the year, but instead of it being as per the rental contract, it’s as per the rental index (what your property would rent for, if it were available on the market).

I'm currently trying to find a Nanny job but its quite hard as i'm not finding many listings from this end (london) not sure if you have any tips? i'm thinking if in the next couple of months i still find nothing perhaps coming for 2 weeks to search whilst in Dubai. The only options are work, transit, tourism visa. Which one are you talking about? We want to get a apartment and we would be using monthly income that comes each month? What would we get?

Looking to move to Dubai in the next few years your video’s have been helpful. Do you have any knowledge on buying an apartment there. I plan on staying in Dubai for at least three years, I’m thinking that purchasing an apartment would be a better investment.
hey! so glad you've found the video's helpful 🫶 yes definitely, funnily enough i work for a real estate brokerage (not as an agent - i'm in the marketing team!) so i'll do a video all about buying property in dubai.
rent is supeeeerrr expensive in dubai but property prices here are still 'cheap', if you compare price per sq.ft to other major cities such as london or singapore. i will 100% be buying property in dubai!

Hey, thank you for these videos. They are so helpful 🥰 if you come from the UK and get the 30 days on arrival can you extend it whilst you’re there or would I need to pay for a 2/3 month visa before I came? 💗
hi lovely, aw you're so welcome and thank you for watching!
tbh there is conflicting information online about extending long-term visas as the rules were different during covid. in 2021, i was able to extend my visa without leaving dubai by visiting an amer centre and paying to extend, but they have since announced that you can no longer do that, the only way to extend is to leave and come back again (by flight, or driving to the nearest border - oman - and driving back again).
i did just have a quick look on the gdrfad.gov.ae website - as it is the government website and will always show what services are available relevant to visa's, but i can't see anything that shows it is possible to buy a 60/90 day visa - unless you apply for an 'entry permit looking for job opportunity'. to be eligible for one of those, you have to:
1) "be a skilled worker at the first, second or third professional level of the classification of professions approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation"
2) "be a graduate of the best (500) universities in the world according to the classification approved by the Ministry of Education"
3) "the year of bachelors degree (or equivalent) graduation should not exceed two years from the year of application"
^ i am absolutely none of those things haha and most people i've met in dubai also aren't! so if you also aren't, i'd say fly in on a tourist visa and if you're looking at staying here and working, try and find a role in the first 40 days, but if not, leave the country and come back again, and allow yourself another 40 days to secure something! hope thats helps 💖🌴🥳 xx

How many tests did you do medical wise or is it depending on what your job is ?
hiya, i had 2 tests:
1) an x-ray
2) and my blood taken
^ these tests were done to make sure i didn't have HIV or TB. both of these tests are mandatory for anyone applying for a dubai visa.
domestic workers are also checked for:
3) syphilis
4) and hepatitus b
domestic workers include: nannies, maids, construction workers, sailors, guards, cooks, farm workers etc etc! i hope that helps.

hi G, thanks for your comment! yes it is mandatory for anyone working in the federal government and private sectors. the only people exempt are:
- investors (owners of companies they work at)
- domestic helpers
- temporary-contract workers
- anyone under the age of 18
- retirees who are entitled to a pension and joined a new job
