Awesome video!! We moved our ecom brand to Dubai this year, and we're super happy with how things turned out. Your videos helped quite a bit too ♥♥ But I have to admit, figuring out how to start our company in Dubai on our own wasn't all that easy. The paperwork and some other details got us pretty confused. Thankfully, there are companies that know how to help, and they made the whole thing almost automatic and not pricey. And you won't believe it - we don't have to pay any taxes now! This changed everything for us. I totally think every business owner (no matter the size) should think about Dubai - it's been a really good move for us!
Appreciate the comment. We also have an ecom brand and thinking of locating to Dubai for the same reasons Any chance you can tell me the name of this consulting company you worked with? Would appreciate some references. Thanks
This is so awesome! I am also thinking about relocating to Dubai. I heard that there’s a 9% corporate tax on certain businesses. Are you getting taxed from this?
Hi Katy, do you have any videos mentioning pros and cons of moving to Dubai from the west? I am a US citizen living in NY along with family and considering the move. Thanks for posting such detailed content.
I am also in UAE Since 2017 I worked in a company 4 year and then I got chance to change my job then I changed it's really struggling to find a Good Job In UAE as per your experience, education and your talent.
Wow since 2017 😃 I’ve only been here a few months but it already feels like home 🌆 You’re so right, there are lots of jobs but experience & education is really prioritised! I always think doing something a little different with your CV helps you stand out. Like adding a subtle colour or using graphs to display information. 😃

❤❤❤ This video is so “spot on!!!” Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience I’m from USA and came to Dubai to live and work (with no prior knowledge or experience of how to do it) I have been spinning my wheels trying to find out how to do so. I wish I watched this video before I flew over to Dubai
Very informative video. Thx . I'm planning to move there. Could you tell me something please. Companies usually help with location when they found someone? Also I'm considering just flying there for a month. How to find a place to leave with monthly payment? Thank you for your time.
hiya, thanks for watching! typically, companies won’t help you with costs for relocating to Dubai, unless your skill set is really niche. the reason for that is because there are so many people from all over the world living in dubai now and are actively looking for a job. however, that being said, it isn’t impossible to land yourself a job with a relocation package! but I don’t personally know anyone who has had their flights / accommodation covered (apart from friends who are teachers). with regards to finding somewhere to live where you pay monthly, the best place to look is air bnb. but please be careful and make sure you book & pay through the app (no third party website) as there are a few scams on there!! as long as you pay directly through the website, your money and booking is safe. i have since made a new ‘moving to Dubai’ video where i talk through all the stages of getting your visa and emirates ID, once you have been offered a job. here it is: ua-cam.com/video/xGdt23MDeeY/v-deo.html you might find that useful !! ✨🫶🏼 good luck with your move!
Thank you SO 've much for this series! From the 100s of videos I've watched as I prepare to move to Dubai in January, yours were the most comprehensive and informational. Question for you, if you wouldn't mind, please: which company did you use to ship your belongings with? I 'have been researching shipping companies but haven't found any that focuses on dimension of boxes vs Kgs. Would you please help? Thank you.
Hey Anissa! Thanks so much for your lovely comment, that has given me the BIGGEST smile ever 💘 Sure! I used a company called ‘Anglo pacific’ and it was based on cubic foot rather than weight, but the boxes couldn’t be heavier than 30kg. Hope that helps and happy moving!!
Hi Katy! Fantastic content, thank you. I am looking forward to move to Dubai by January 2023. What do you think of Airbnb rentals for someone looking to find jobs while staying in Dubai?
hi 😄 thanks for your lovely comment! yes I think air b’n’b is a good shout for your first month (or two!) whilst finding your feet. Once your employer starts your visa process, it can take around 3 weeks until your get your emirates ID, so unless you get a job in your first week, it’s likely you’ll need 2 months in a short term rental to allow yourself enough time to get all your documents together, in readiness for a long term rental 😃 Peak season is Oct through to April, so the air b’n’bs will be expensive 😢 but then you’ll be able to find something much more affordable when you start looking long term! Also if you aren’t sure where you’d like to live in dubai just yet, you could book 2 or 3 air bnbs in different areas during your first 2 months, to give you a nice insight into life in different communities. Good luck with your move! Promise you’ll love it 🤭😁
We are from Cambodia and living in japan for long time. We have three kids and we really want to move to Dubai but we don know how to get visa there? And we don have much money to start investment there in Dubai. We try to find out how?
@katypriscott I would like to bring my dog to Dubai. I would love to know more about the exact process. I would be moving from the United States. I was emailing them a few years ago and tried to get information and I felt that they weren’t very helpful. Also, there was a fee of US$1200 if you had an error in your paperwork upon arrival. It said if the paperwork was wrong, you have to pay the money or they can take your dog from you and keep it.
Hi, you’re soooo amazing. Congratulations to you on moving to Dubai. I’m in Poland now, originally from Bangladesh however. Your video gave me all the insight I could get before taking a rash decision on moving to Dubai.♥️♥️♥️ and of course, LOVE YOUR DECOR & YOUR AMAZING VIDEO ♥️♥️♥️
Hi Fabilha, thanks so much! Oh wow - Poland and Bangladesh, and now you're considering Dubai? How amazing! Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best for your future!! 🫶 and thank you so much for your kind comment. It means the world! xx
@@sumaiyasultana6759 Assalamuwalaikum. I didn’t move to Dubai. Cause I work in Wall Street banking & UAE is just starting with this industry. I’d had to change my work field in Dubai. Plus the work pressure is crazy there just like bangladesh & I’m happy in Europe for now 😊
So I'm moving to Dubai on work visa next week and I have around 4 weeks to find an apartment. The rent in Dubai is pretty crazy right now. Don't you think paying 6 month's rent + security deposits + groceries etc with your first paycheck+savings is really too crazy? Also what is a good salary range per month for someone working in tech?
hey! yes i agree with you, it is a huge outlay when you move to dubai, and it adds up really quickly, especially if you're having to buy furniture too. there are cheaper alternatives though - like renting a room, instead of renting a whole apartment, and usually your furniture and bills will be included 😊 i often see rooms for rent on facebook at around 5k per month. & to be honest i don't know the scope of what a tech salary could be. but i would say if you are wanting to live in your own apartment then 15k per month will be do-able. This will allow you enough money to go out (not every night 😉), buy groceries, get about etc! but if the rents keep increasing, you'd benefit from working somewhere that empowers progression or has a commission structure. good luck !!
Hi I’m looking to move and work in dubai and wanted. do you know of any job agencies that I can approach profiles on how to get into the media? I am a entertainment journalist and I want you to know what’s the best way around this
Hey! That’s cool, I haven’t used any recruitment agencies myself but I would say the most popular entertainment website and magazine is ‘time out dubai’. It’s everyone’s go-to for finding out what is going on 😊 In terms of sharing your CV, I’d sent it to the first 10 websites that come up when you Google search entertainment recruitment agencies in dubai. Might also be worth sharing it on a Facebook group specifically for jobs in dubai. I’d also connect with as many people as you can on LinkedIn and in real life, and share what you’re looking for 😊 hope it goes well, good luck!
hey Jose! it could very well be the new london - a hotter & cleaner london haha ☀️ there isn't your typical 'chinatown' in terms of a living district, but a wing of dubai mall has literally only just opened and it's called chinatown - with chinese restaurants, shops & a spa!

Ahh beautiful NY! Dubai is similar to NY in sooo many ways. They’re both such vibrant cities and awake 24/7! In dubai you get the unreal levels of safety, but we don’t get the gorgeous seasons like NY.
Hello, very informative video, thank you for sharing. Regarding the UK free 30 day visit visa being extended to 60 days, do you know whether this has happened or is it still 30 days? Thank you xx
Hey Dammy! Thanks for your comment and for watching my video 😊 Sadly the change regarding the visit visa being extended didn't happen, instead, lots of new rules came in! So currently you still get a 30 day visit visa (if you have a UK passport), and you get a 10 day grace period on top. So if you enter the UAE on 1st Feb 2023, you'd have until 12th March 2023 to leave. But it is timed to the exact minute you entered - it doesn't run up until midnight if you see what i mean. I believe they have now stopped allowing tourists to 'renew' their tourist visa within the country, so it means you have to physically leave the country and return. You can do this by flying in and out or by driving to Oman border (which is the closest border) and literally driving out and back in again. If you do this, you can't use a hire car because you have to get a NOC letter from the hire company saying they're happy for you to drive it out of the country (which is going to be difficult). If for any reason you are able to renew your visa in the country, then be mindful the *grace period* of 10 days automatically gets removed. So if you entered UAE on 1st Feb 2023, then renewed your visa in country for 30 days, your total visa allowance is 60 days (not 80). As I said, I think it's unlikely you will be able to re-new it in country but just wanted to point it out in case you do! There has been quite a few changes with visas in dubai and i'm still gathering information about it, but i'll do an updated video as soon as i have all the facts!! :)
Hi Katy you explained everything in single video Thanks. I just moved from London for seeking job opportunities into Technical Sales roles .Could you please give some idea for Technical Sales Jobs in Dubai.
Isn’t it 🤯 and whilst I know some people who have this arrangement, the longer I’ve lived here & the more people I’ve met - it is more common for labour-related roles to have this. Jobs such as maids, drivers, beauty therapists, construction workers etc. But, it is still very common across all fields not to take leave in the first 6 months! ✨
Can you please elaborate on what you mean by paying the rent in 2 cheques? So essentially you pay for 6 months up front, then the remainder of the 1 year term at the 6 month point? So, unlike the UK, rent is not paid on a month by month basis? I know you said some people will do that, but from what you're saying the norm is to pay for 6 months up front - ? Thanks.
Hi, yes that’s exactly right. When we handed over our cheques for our apartment when we were given our keys, we gave 4 cheques: 1) 5% of the annual rent + VAT for the real estate agent. 2) 5% of the annual rent for a security deposit (which goes to the landlord) 3) 6 months worth of rent dated the day our tenancy started 4) 6 months worth of rent dated exactly 6 months later (so it cannot be deposited earlier than that date) Some landlords may let you pay quarterly but being completely honest, they favour tenants who can pay the rent in 2 cheques (some people even pay in 1 cheque!!) Direct debit is apparently on its way 🥳 (I’ve shared this update in my most recent moving to Dubai video that I uploaded yesterday) but this may just replace the cheques, rather than the frequency of payment - we will see! Thanks x
Hi Ahmed, yes you can definitely book somewhere for 30 days, whether it's a serviced hotel apartment or a short term holiday let. Air b'n'b is still the most popular choice and tends to have all the options on there. There are quite a few scammers on there though - so just be sure you make your booking directly through the official website and pay through the official website too! (my friend recently got scammed out of money because the * owner * sent her a link to pay the balance, instead of paying it directly through the website). If you are thinking of moving to Dubai, if i were you, i'd book 1, 2 or maybe even 3 different air b'n'bs during my 30 days, in different communities so that you can get a vibe for which area you'd like to settle in. Downtown is very glitzy, is super busy on the roads in rush hours, but on the whole a very quiet community (assuming you don't venture to the mall everyday - that place is busy!). Marina is what everyone pictures when they think of Dubai in my opinion. The twisty tower (cayan tower), the yachts, the nightlife! But for me, it's just a little too busy. Busy on the roads in terms of traffic and busy on the streets in terms of people. A lot of tourists choose to stay in the Marina as it offers both luxury marina living and is close proximity of the beach. It is also a good place to meet people and there is always something going on! Best of luck!

United Arab Emirates In several cases in 2013, the courts of the UAE have sentenced the gang raped woman to prison under its laws. For example, a British woman, after she reported being gang raped by three men, was charged with the crime of drinking alcohol in UAE; an Arab woman was sentenced to one year in prison for illicit sex after she complained of gang rape; an Australian woman was similarly sentenced to jail after she reported gang rape in the UAE, while a Norwegian woman was jailed for illicit sex when she reported rape by Arab men.[109] In another case, an 18-year Arab woman withdrew her complaint of gang rape inside a car by six men when the prosecution threatened her with a long jail term for consensual sex with multiple men. According to ABC News, a French teenage boy was gang raped by three Dubai men. The authorities demanded that the tourist confess he is gay and that he asked for sex. The boy insisted he was raped and diplomatic pressure led to the arrest and conviction of the gang members.
@@marklordntiaddae5148 yes! Most people arrive on a tourist visa and then secure a job. Once you’ve secured a job, your employee will change your visa from a tourist visa to a residency visa. It is recommended to get a job offer before moving to Dubai but being honest and realistic, it is very hard to secure a job in dubai without being here! So more often than not, people take the plunge and move here (with savings) and try to look for a job whilst on their tourist visa. You legally can’t work on a tourist visa though - your employer will need to start the process of changing your visa in order to be legal. Hope this helps
@@dni761 employment visa is easy (if you’re moving to Dubai to be employed by an existing business), but setting up a business is more lengthy and more expensive! Either or is do-able tho! ☺️
Hi! Thanks for watching. I was only able to share my personal experience regarding how to find a home, because that was the only thing I had personally gone through when I uploaded the video. But I’m a researcher! So I knew a lot about finding a job & visa’s, without having personally gone through it by that stage. I’ve since uploaded 4 more videos on ‘step by step, moving to dubai’- where I share more of my personal experiences. I hope you find them more helpful. Thanks 😊
Haha some days I feel like that trust me - a specific time would be 5pm on a metro, or 10pm in a mall 😅 but on the whole I feel very lucky to live somewhere full on different & vibrant cultures and personalities! I’ve learnt a lot from the people here 😊
Hey Sam, there are so many different ways to find a job, but the easiest way is being in dubai to start with, as lots of jobs are with 'immediate start'. it's also really helpful if you already have a network of people as sometimes it's not what you know, rather who you know, to get your foot in the door. definitely create a linkedin profile if you haven't already - the majority of jobs are advertised there 😊 hope that helps

Ahh beautiful NY! Dubai is similar to NY in sooo many ways. They’re both such vibrant cities and awake 24/7!
In dubai you get the unreal levels of safety, but we don’t get the gorgeous seasons like NY.
Thanks for sharing, what is the freelance visa website to research?
Hello, very informative video, thank you for sharing.
Regarding the UK free 30 day visit visa being extended to 60 days, do you know whether this has happened or is it still 30 days?
Thank you xx
Hey Dammy! Thanks for your comment and for watching my video 😊
Sadly the change regarding the visit visa being extended didn't happen, instead, lots of new rules came in!
@Iamhaving allergic ahh my mistake - i'll edit my response now to say Oman! thanks for pointing that out xx
Could you talk about income tax please? Do you have to pay tax in the UK if you work in Dubai while being a British ?
Hi Katy, I subscribed..very informative video! What about opening an e-commerce business as a Foreigner? Thank you
Hi Katy you explained everything in single video Thanks. I just moved from London for seeking job opportunities into Technical Sales roles .Could you please give some idea for Technical Sales Jobs in Dubai.
Working for a year to get annual leave is INSANE 🙃🙃
When we handed over our cheques for our apartment when we were given our keys, we gave 4 cheques:
1) 5% of the annual rent + VAT for the real estate agent.
2) 5% of the annual rent for a security deposit (which goes to the landlord)
3) 6 months worth of rent dated the day our tenancy started
4) 6 months worth of rent dated exactly 6 months later (so it cannot be deposited earlier than that date)
Some landlords may let you pay quarterly but being completely honest, they favour tenants who can pay the rent in 2 cheques (some people even pay in 1 cheque!!)
Direct debit is apparently on its way 🥳 (I’ve shared this update in my most recent moving to Dubai video that I uploaded yesterday) but this may just replace the cheques, rather than the frequency of payment - we will see!
Thanks x

Hi Malkia, thank you for watching! 🧡🧡
i will do the 30 days if i wanna rent somewhere in marina or downtown ect would i find a 30 day room our unit if so any tips where to search \
thanks
Not sure I agree about employers not giving their employees any holiday entitlement in the first year. That is illegal in Dubai.
It does happen though... I’ve spoken to many people who have had to work almost a year before they can use leave.

Do people flat or house share in Dubai?
Hello
Would you be able to help me move to Dubai
United Arab Emirates
In several cases in 2013, the courts of the UAE have sentenced the gang raped woman to prison under its laws.
Bullshit.
Can you get by with speaking only English?
hi Jae, yes definitely! typically everything in dubai is written and spoken in english here ✨
Please can I get a work tourist visa in Dubai
Can I get a job with tourist visa in Dubai
@@marklordntiaddae5148 yes! Most people arrive on a tourist visa and then secure a job. Once you’ve secured a job, your employee will change your visa from a tourist visa to a residency visa.
It is recommended to get a job offer before moving to Dubai but being honest and realistic, it is very hard to secure a job in dubai without being here! So more often than not, people take the plunge and move here (with savings) and try to look for a job whilst on their tourist visa.
You legally can’t work on a tourist visa though - your employer will need to start the process of changing your visa in order to be legal. Hope this helps
@@marklordntiaddae5148 ps - if you watch part 5 of this series, I talk through the steps of getting your residency visa with your employer :)

Feedback - it would be good if you shared your experience instead of just stating the facts. Would have been more helpful! 👍🏽
Thanks 😊

Thanks but also no thanks I’d rather live in Antarctica where there are no people sorry
Haha some days I feel like that trust me - a specific time would be 5pm on a metro, or 10pm in a mall 😅 but on the whole I feel very lucky to live somewhere full on different & vibrant cultures and personalities! I’ve learnt a lot from the people here 😊

I want to move to dubai form the uk 🇬🇧 how do I go about this what are the first steps I need to take in securing a job
