Comparison between low, normal, and super high gain versions of the Analogman RCA Sunface. Telecaster with Don Mare 0038 bridge pickup into Naylor SuperDrive 60.
Super useful comparison for people deciding on the which gain range for the sun face! There are so many choices as it is for those... Also, thanks for playing some chords too. Fuzz sounds great for lead and rhythm guitar.
Awesome. Is the middle/normal the same as the current rca medium-high gain that AM offers? I like the low gain sound as well, but is it as versatile? But my needs are more blues/country-rock, I don’t need super fuzzy, heavy sustaining sound.
Zack Hosey thanks! The RCA is my favorite transistor for the Sunface/lions. They have a bit more cut than the 2N, and work with any type of pickup I’ve tried.
Kevin Monie yes, I think so. With the sundial and internal clean trimpot these are actually pretty tweakable. The normal gain usually is the way to go I think.
Echoplexi Thanks man. I have a Red DOT that I absolutely love. I wanna get a sunlion, so the obvious choice is to for RCA transistors. I want a bit different flawor.
Just getting your hands on 3 of those is pretty cool

Especially when you dial back the volume knob on the guitar a little.
Thanks, glad it helped!

I can’t decide between the medium and the super high gain... what do u reccomend
Medium is always a safe bet.
Great comparison! How does the RCA work in the Sun Lion circuit compared to the 2N that you have.

Would you be able to achieve similar tones on the normal with fuzz at 12, as the low gain version? Those are my faves
