good crash testing. i like the simple disarm from 30ft. do that 3 times over grass and once over concrete. very repeatable and comparable as a bare minimum durability.
Right. I was annoyed how he was trying to calculate the strength with a non-engineer brain. "Well if you take 8 mm and subtract a 3 mm pocket then it's like 5 mm arms". Uh, no it doesn't work that way. That's alright. I think they are still pretty strong. I would have liked to not see the motors in pockets, though. I know why they did it, so the wires could exit into the pocket exactly parallel to their natural orientation. Give it a little bend and remove the motor pocket. And maybe make the cover plate a pocketed non structural item and leave the arm flat? 💪
That quad is only good if fly open fields, and never crash. I guarantee you I'd tear those little pretty LED side plates off within an hour of flying😂😂
Which one? Is it better than similar irons from other companies? I solder a lot, I have several irons which work fine but I'm always looking for something better.
Your analysis of the arms is suspect: milling out a groove isn't the equivalent of a thinner arm. A U shaped arm will be much stronger than a flat arm. It should be adding a lot of rigidity and strength by being shaped that way.
It is only much stronger when the amount of material is the same, but drilling away material adds another variable. A solid 7mm arm is stronger than the same arm that has had a channel drilled out of it.
I think you might find the hollow arms are stronger than you think, they would definitely be a lot stronger than solid arms the same weight, that would have to be much thinner to weigh the same. The tabs on the ends and 3d printed bumper design aren’t any good and won’t protect the motors though
Damn you, Bardwell! I really thought that I was happy with five drone fleet, which is an AVATA2, 2 5” 6s Tanqs, a Tanq S, and a Nazgûl v4. I guess maybe I should’ve watched the whole video before I commented because at a glance, the arm and the bumper and the channel idea are so clean and neat but I am a fairly new pilot at 3 1/2 months and I crash a good bit so the arms are a deal killer for me for now.
@nickvledder try understanding electricity and you'll see where it does make sense. Not saying it does for all, but it does for some. So your blanket statement isn't accurate.
@ i flew 4s for so long, until I did 6s. Wow. Depends on the application, but i have seen better flight time or better speeds. I can only imagine what 8s could achieve.
Hi Josh, WOW ! 8s, I'm going to need a new charger for this one, but I'm not sure if it should be flown. It looks like a wall quad. There's just too much to break. interestingly, I first saw a similar arm end concept on the kayoumini frame. I thought it was cool how well it held on despite not actually being screwed on.
Neat BNF! Not a huge "fan" of the fan lol why not just put the VTX on a switch, that way you could power the drone without worrying that the 03 will heat up. It's just one more thing that can fail and adds extra weight.
I fixed a broken arm with fine fiberglass cut into a strip like tape and soaked with 2 part epoxy wrap tightly to mend . Wait 3 days to cure the epoxy . I think i peeled a shiny skin off the broken ends but not sure . Cotton cloth works too wrapped 3 or 4 layers¾ inch wide at least .
No, because the carbon is not as strong as the metal. The carbon will break at the thin part around the screw hole. The fact that it's backed by metal doesn't change that. Arms are backed by metal motor mounts when the arm is 5mm thick too. All they've done is make a weak spot.
Well, what concerns TPU bumpers, I'm putting steel washers under the screw, so it doesn't go thru...also if possible, I modify the bumper, increasing the thickness under the screw and also making the washer hole bigger, so I can put there bigger washer that definitely doesn't go thru...BTW, those original 3D prints the drone comes with are terrible...I re-print everything with much higher quality on my printer...

Apologies if I missed this, but what IS the top speed this quad can fly at? My iFlight Nazgul Evoque can do approx. 170km/h (110mph). Can this go faster?
looks like dry carbon. and A square tube is almost as strong as a solid rod of the same material because of its hollow design, which efficiently distributes stress across its cross-section, maximizing its strength-to-weight ratio; essentially, the material is concentrated at the corners where it's needed most, while removing unnecessary material from the center, allowing it to support heavy loads while remaining lightweight
The thing is this 1600kv on 8s is like using 2133kv on 6s, of course it will have more power. It's like when everyone was saying 6s was more powerful than 4s but they were just using higher comparably kv motors and bigger batteries. There are advantages of higher voltage like less sag etc, but saying it's more power is just not accurate. There are also disadvantages like more expensive electronics, fewer chargers available, using smaller individual cells etc. Higher kv motors are often less efficient so going higher kv is not always a good option.

@@serenestateofbeing1062 exactly! The efficiency of the motors would be better yes, but the efficiency of the ESC may not be so it depends on the whole setup
