For all the shit that the talent back then in the 90's got away with, especially HBK, I always wonder why Vince have every one of these guys on a tight leash. Like even the top guy could be ousted if he goes just a little off the cuff. I know they have their own criteria, and have sponsors they have to meet from all the stocks and shit, but even something that wouldn't pose a threat to the hierarchy gets these guys into major hot water.

The way WWE is heavily scripted doesn't always help, but it's also pretty hard for any superstar to get over by themselves. I remember Hurricane Helms saying on Twitter that you can't always do unscripted stuff because these days, there are very few people who are consistently good at making unscripted promos, and if you look at the current roster, it's not that hard to see why

@Jonathan Esser One genuine thing about him, and it seems pretty inarguable, is there isn't much to be said about him that could be said that's either scandalous, or crazy to hear. He's a historically straight edge guy that has always followed the rules, it's just his burials of other wrestlers. And if you really want to get into semantics he kind of got to that position by playing by the rules too, he simply got close to and then married the owner of the company he works for's daughter, and remained professional enough to Vince behind the scenes for Vince to obviously continue giving him a few more yards of rope to play with all the way to getting his own brand. It was all very business like haha.

And that's coming from someone who has always found him to be a talented, but boring wrestler, who I never once liked or found myself rooting for. @@harveyholmes9533 I never said it was the only thing, but you'd be blind to say he didn't secure such a top spot by the nature of his relationship. I mentioned that has professionalism obviously influenced Vince, and without his hard working, knowledgeable nature, he certainly wouldn't have been a lock the way he became, but there are plenty of knowledgeable, hard working guys who have the potential to succeed in his position that would've gladly accepted the opportunity, but H locked it up with his savvy relationship move. It's essentially inarguable. He certainly isn't the only wrestler that has/ has had the potential over the years to take the mantl, and continue on successfully, but he's certainly the only one that put himself in the position to be SUCH a highly likely position to be chosen for that spot.

Yeah it was a rumor spread amoung less talented wrestlers who couldn't get over and were unable to fathom why someone with incredible talent would get a push and be a top guy in the business instead of them. Their lack of a push had nothing to do with them being poor workers, having no mic skills and being boring. It had to be because Vince was banging the talent. That was the only way. Makes you wonder about guys like Hogan, Rock and Cena. I mean Hogan was way more of a back stabbing lying dickhead than HBK ever was. I heard the same rumors about Vince and Ston Cold. Couldn't believe it when they turned out to actually be true. Really thought they were just wildly exaggerated rumors like all the others. Like when Vince would slap Stone Colds ass people would say Vince snuck a couple fingers up there. I thought it was weird because this is wrestling not baseball but whatever, so I just thought he was telling Steve "good game" and the other wrestlers were jealous because Vince wasn't slapping their asses so they were making stuff up but alot of jobbers and ECW guys have done shoot interviews on how they would walk in on Stone Cold blowing Vince all the time or they'd be in the showers together and Vince would always be behind a bent over Stone Cold. Said they weren't even trying to hide it anymore. Those shoots always get buried though. Sandman is on a bus I think in one of the shoots talking about one of the times he caught Steve and Vince. It's crazy stuff.

It was thanks to watching WWF in the 90s/early 2000s that I first heard and got into metal/rock music from the songs they played in the PPV promos and entrances theme songs 🤘

Those last few words.. absolute legend! So I’d be a liar if I pretended that in my younger years I was a fan of this artistic sport. I was just some army guy that was honored enough to be with some amazing men that changed the world. Later in life I learned more and then later yet when I had sons I became a fan (never was the fan he deserves but I still had respect for his story). I respect this hero’s honesty and his desire to lift up others. I wish all the best of wishes, good health and all the best to you and yours!

I would love to see shawn do this as he is my favorite and my childhoods hero in wwe. He was always the goofy one and not taking anything serious what made him just so easy to relate at a teenager.

8 minutes in and Hunter shows why he's the best Wrestler in history. I'm glad I lived to see his climb to success. My grandfather loved him too, he'd definitely be proud too. I respect no one over this guy

I was actually avoiding this video cuz it kept popping up in my suggested videos, but I was only interested in watching these fact or fiction vids about musicians. But I finally watched it, and it's one of the better ones I've seen, very well done.

We grew up with these legends, during the time these stories were happening and it's so amazing to listen to this first hand account of the tales and fights that made our childhood great. I hope the generations that come after us experience the same thing.
