Man, what a masterpiece. Such an experience hearing your music progress over the years, all leading to this point - you can hear your roots in it, but it's all fresh and new. Love it to bits, Si!
That's why I like this song so much. It's a really good showcase of his older style and newer style. And seeing how he liked going back to his old work when working on "Day by Day" makes me think that we'll see more songs like "Expander" in the future

Yet the slight world-music with a suble classical touch is still there.
He talked about this on a podcast/interview a while back. I loved his explanation for it because people constantly ask him why his music changed. People change over time and so do interests. Nostalgia is deeply tied to our emotions and memories. We associate music we listened to at that time with things going on in our lives.

@@spiritlevelstudios just remembered too, he mentioned that his access to more equipment has changed too, so that naturally changed his music style. Going from heavy sample based music to orchestrating the notes himself.
