- Could this be the end of Gateway? I talk about volcanic eruptions, other natural disasters, and how they could have a positive impact for utility in the game.
Here's Player's Channel: (The guy I stole footage from lol)
@PIayer0
Btw if u don't sub I'll find you. (this is not an option.)
Good video, great points and fun speculation, but a word of advice: Don't do clickbait titles, man, you're better than that and so is your content. The isle community thrives on future mechanic speculation, discussion and balancing suggestions, you didn't need to frame the video at face value like "THE END OF GATEWAY" implying it's failed on launch or something
Facts
Sorry it was so tempting with the volcano pic, it was too funny not to lmfao. But yeah I'll refrain from it your correct
I mean he ain’t wrong tho gateway is unfun and barely playable
@@stevynnpeople like you will complain regardless if it’s spiro, gateway, or the greatest Dino map ever created.
@@stevynncompletely skill issue i have no problem growing on gateway, that map make me to explore more rather then eat and hide in the bush like spiro.
Such a pretty map, a shame it’s night, foggy, or both 90% of the time
A beautiful map we can't see. Perfect lmao
Yes, the visibility is often not very good because of the smoke. The Swamp, South Plains, and basically the central area are affected by this. But I was neither in the North nor in the East. Now I have an adult Stego, maybe I'll cover those areas too if I get to 100% with him.
The Volcano takes what it wants. literally the middle of JW FK
What ever volcano wants, volcano gets
Personally I wish they would allow server admins to smite cheaters with lightning bolts. It would be so satisfying to see a speed hacking deino get thors wrath in front of you.
This would be hilarious
the idea of world ending events is cool but there's a problem, let's say that a volcanic eruption is happening and lava starts going everywhere, i believe it would take a while for it to cover the entire island since lava doesn't spread THAT fast, so if someone is on the other side of the island, or far away enough so that they don't get killed instantly, they can just log out and save their dino.
Maybe one way to do it is to use a disaster as just an event and when it's over "flip the switch".
There's a lot of potential for natural disasters, it will really depend on how the devs intend it to work.
Yeah we're prob gonna end up relying on more for this stuff anyway
It'd be cool to see a nuke.
Any irradiated survivors could mutate and gain permanent buffs after surviving the irradiated status effect, and could perhaps turn into hypos if their diet was correct.
That'd be kinda neat.
That sounds like something they could achieve in about 2 thousand years.
Jokes aside it would be neat to make custom events like this for unofficial servers when modding comes into play
@@halfslyced lol also in a million years 😂
They could create hidden bunkers that the players can find to take shelter from the volcano, this could translate to having more in game objectives and therefore, more playable hours. They could make this by adding hidden levers that only some dinos can interact with, and once they are all activated the bunker opens, or something like that idk
Can't wait to see Omnis opening doors 😭
i really hope that Start Citizens "Server Meshing" Technology is something that other devs studios can buy in the future. Imagine The Isle with basicly umlimited players on a Map / as many as you think would be good for a Map/size. An all those disaster u mentioned. And still freat FPS .
Having unavoidable server wipes like that would honestly suck, but natural disasters that you can survive would be quite fun, eruption in the center and massive thunderstorms with flashfloods at the edges of the island. People who don't want to lose their dinos could just log off and wait it out, but those wanting the survival elements this game desperately needs would be happy to try and survive these calamities, especially if they get some kind of defense or stamina buff for surviving the whole thing from start to finish including the recovery period.
Of course good events would be necessary too, something like turtles laying eggs on the beach so small dinos could gather together and feast, or a spring season that increases food spawns, faster egg incubation speed, and defense buffs for parents nesting in migration zones.
Your discussion always make me think about some new details in The Isle
Also have a nice pines...
I'll just subscribe...
It would be really cool if...
3 humans (2 of them are in a car while the other is outside)
1 carnotaurus
1 pachyrhinosaurus
1 t-rex
... randomly encountered each other while running away from a volcanic eruption and the humans were recording it
the carno attacks the pachyrhino, then gives up and starts attacking the humans but then gets killed by the rex, then the rex 1 calls and continues running away from the volcano
That's literally just a discount recreation of a jurassic world scene.
@@FoundedScreenLady lol exactly
It would make for some very interesting scenarios
This would be neat and cool at the same time
If they add a temperature system which I think they've hinted at, it could effect things that way. Depending how bad it is it could hurt cause heat spots or it could be ash cover (no sun), thunder and lightning from the ash friction, drought, lava flows... The most extreme form could be a fun way to do server resets or wipes when needed
this would be cool. it would make for a much more dynamic way of surviving the island and make it quite interesting. (also it would be cool to see a bunch of deinos basking the sun)
have u played beasts of bermuda?
it already has mass floods and forest fires and tornados
Yep. To be fair their graphics are much worse so it's easier to optimize. But yeah iv played it
didnt wanna get thrown into the volcano so i subbed
So glad somebody saw that
Is this the END of gateway?! No! It's just some kind of clickbait relying on people misinterpreting what it means!
I'm sorry but if Icarus can manage thunderstrikes and ignite trees and actually cause forest fire or even BOTW is capable of grassfire, I don't see how The Isle is unable to achieve that.
Dev team is unable to do many things
Oh they definitely have the capabilities to do so. I'm just worried they won't want to
bro what are your specs or settings holy moly, I be averaging like 30 frames when i play the new map
I have a 3060, and 32 gigs of ram
And btw my fps is only pretty good bc im in an area with 0 people I usually get around 50. But I guess that isn't too bad either
At some point I wanna start making videos too, and one of my first video Ideas is making a breakdown of Gateways geography and what it could imply for the future of the game.
go for it!
The only Smoke i would see is the one coming from my GPU
It would be nice but I don’t think they would make events that wipe peoples progress, one bug thing the Isle has going for it is the fact you can save your progress and not lose it when you’re not there. It can be a cool way to do it for servers that would wipe though.
I know I'm saying they could use volcanic eruptions WHEN they do server wipes. Especially for some unofficial servers that regularly wipe progress every month or so.
I saw this video click bait and thought ‘Not even a week into it and it’s already down?’ 🤣
I'm so sorry it won't happen again I promise 😭
Yeah i have a few ideas, quicksand, widow makers (dead trees) that can crush dinosaurs, landslides, fungal outbreaks/ diseases. And do you know what always follows humans? Rats. Rats could make the nesting passively way morenskill based. Turn it into a minigame even. That way all the smaller dinosaurs have a useful niche that the roster benifits from. Also maybe add poop. Like too much traffic of dinosaurs makes an area toxic, maybe effects water quality even. NOT LIKE POT. but I think there's a big enterprise in general welfare of dinosaurs.
i like all these ideas, but anything nesting related will have to wait until they actually make nesting a compelling gameplay choice
Something like a volcano or any natural disaster isn't and shouldn't be a guaranteed full server wipe. Pteranadons could easily escape to one of the other islands or stay in the air, Deino's can swim to a nearby island plus I dont think lava would be able to cover the entirety of the island, and what becomes of the human structures in these events?
I'm saying they could use it as a way for server owners to wipe people's progress. Not that it would happen randomly. Because that would be kinda silly to lose your progress randomly like that
I thought you were gonna talk about how bad the performance is on Gateway compared to Spiro and how that "destroyed" the game but a volcano would be cool.
I'm so sorry for the click bait 😭, this is the only time I promise lmfao
Pretty sure most people have said gateways performance was alot better than spiro so idk why people are complaining about that
please beast of bermuda already has the thing where you have a 0.1% chance to be struck by lightning and it totally changes gameplay by encouraging people to either level up their dinosaurs tolerance to weather or hide under structures or get some shelter fr + it improves their comfort during storms so thats a cool mechanic tbh. Pls and storms literally rise the water so mosas their in game deino or whatever can grab other players
Personally I wouldn't mind being struck by lightning and dying randomly. It would make for some funny moments and spice up my experience. The only reason I said what I said was because I've noticed the majority of people saying they wouldn't want to die that way and lose progress.
When i go in swamps I'm at 15 fps lol, and depending where I'm looking I can be at 20 fps instead of 50 fps. Volcano ? Probably would be at 2 fps
Yeah it's not great rn
I would love to see both volcanic eruptions that just effect the surround areas and large eruptions for a server reset. I think a pyroclastic flow should wipe out the dinos
It should allow some players to survive like hiding deep in caves for example
They should but like you said it’s going very hard to implement
Fast dinos would have an absolute advantage here. For example, stego and possibly deino would also be at a big disadvantage. It doesn't matter where you start. How would the eruption happen? Would everything from the eruption location in a certain circle die after a while? Then this circle would be bigger again? Finally, how much area would the lava/smoke/gas cover? Is there an area that is protected? How much protection would the sea provide (A deino would be preferred here, along with any other swimming dinos)?
Doing these would not be easy. I think it would be stupid to do this in general. If this happened on certain maps, it wouldn't be bad. Like a mod. But something that would affect (destroy) all Gateway maps would not be good. This map is quite interesting and good. A lot of people make fun of this/scold/mourn it. But basically it's pretty good. I say this as I am not an expert on the other maps, not at all. If this could be improved, it would be great. But the volcano shouldn't be erupted either.
If they add natural disasters they should make it possible to survive all of them in some way.
Like for example:
Forest Fire: Started by lightning strikes, fairly survivable, simply outrun it and don't stand in fire/smoke. Simples. After effect would be lots of destroyed woodland and burnt grasslands which would affect herbivores quite a bit since no food in that area. It does regrow after about 48 (irl) hours though and fires can be put out or slowed by heavy enough rain. (Maybe when humans are added the humans could choose to act as fire fighters)
Minor Volcano Eruption: Pretty deadly for anyone near the volcano, a few minor streams of lava occur and there's falling rocks that can kill but doesn't do much compared to full eruption. You'd be warned ahead of time by faint rumbling noises.
Full Volcano Eruption: Very deadly, covers a large portion of the island in streams of lava and flying debris. It's advisable to hide inside structures or more covered areas. Plants also can die off due to the lack of sun due to the ash clouds, which also make it hard to see/breathe.
Major Flood: Intense rains can cause flash flooding, making river systems bloated and bursting their banks, covering much of the low lying areas. Creatures that are weak swimmers will be washed away and possible drowned if they stray into fast moving flood water. Takes 3 to 12 (irl) hours for the water to recede back to normal, the time it takes is based on how much flooding occurs.
Minor Flood: Basically a mini version of the Major Flood, this occurs from weak but long lasting rainstorms, which can cause a small amount of land to be claimed by the water, recedes much quicker then the major flood.
Also the disaster system should have a long cooldown for each disaster so they're not being spammed or being too intrusive, kind of like a special event that can happen maybe once or twice a week on a server.
not sure its fair to say the devs dont listen to feedback, we have had balance tweaks and system changes due to community feedback soooooo
Ngl Im kinda dumb for not playing gateway often and when I do only playing dieno or playing a land creature and nog exploring because I dont wanna die lol so idk why I feel “left out” when everyone else knows the map, guess thats my own problem. HOWEVER I have a question, how easy is it to learn gateways map? Lol
Just as difficult as it is to learn any other map. Take the time and look around. I'm still learning it right now as well
I think adding something like that would take like, around 10 years, and I'm not saying it because "OoO iSLe DeVS ArE slOW" nah It's because 10+ years is probably amount of time it would take for an average gamer to have a computer that can handle such a thing. Because no matter what they do to optimize it an event like that will make the performance horrible even for the best gaming computers
I hate using this game as a comparison... But fortnite can handle events on a much larger scale, with thousands of servers with 100 people at the same time. I know they have a much larger budget... But the isle devs have said that money isn't a problem so there really shouldn't be any excuse to be able to do something like this and optimize it correctly. I could be wrong, but it's been done before.
@@halfslyced Since they both use UE5 its probably some kind of engine magic epic used that the isle devs have to figure out.
One time I got struck by lightening on roblox 😂
Volcano eruption:) 10/10 biggest eruption possible lol
Nah man you reaching so much rn 😂
Shhhh don't tell everyone brah
I don't like the idea of natural disasters unless they are either for fun server restarts or like warned ahead of time, I don't think I'd enjoy losing several hours all because the game chose me to be struck by lightning or pulled by a tsunami. Especially considering certain species are forced to play in those areas it's kind of a middle finger. Pachy spending the majority of its gameplay on coastlines means it'll probably just be prone to dying to tsunamis, tsunamis don't happen absurdly inland so the other issue besides performance would be large enough waves. As for the volcano, I wouldn't mind it if it was just for restarts or highly warned ahead of time. Don't want a BOB situation of logging in and immediately drowning in a megaflood or losing hours of progress due to the game coding saying "Strike here" Those are horrible inconveniences considering the time it takes to grow anything worth playing.
Yeah that's what I'm suggesting. No random events. It would be used as a tool for server admins as a cooler way to restart the server besides just turning it off then back on
Bruh make a video on the communities reception of gateway, a lot of people are hating the stam issue as well as the amount of time people are starving on there, make a video on it pls
Il try to whip a gateway review up next week
You’re just thinking of anything to push content out eh? XD. Good video though
Lmao I jus like coming up with topics for everyone to talk about, but yeah ur right
what are your specs
3060, and 32 gigs of ram
Honestly the map is such a disappointment. Looks amazing and good ideas but... only on paper
The real end of gateway is the numb skull devs not listening to player feedback
this aint fortnite
click bait title.
This guys ideas aren't any good
"Ideias" lol
srry in the brazil we call "ideas" as "ideias" so it's hard to remember@@halfslyced
Bigger than what yellow is supposed to do hahahaha
Destruction hahahaha
