Thanks for posting. So much work. Never understood how plastic made its way to guitar - pickguards ruin the acoustic boards and binding looks gaudy to my eye - yet owners still want it as replacement or refurbish. Fantastic know-how and finished results.
Nice work! I’d love to refinish my dad’s Gretsch Country Gentleman. The guitar means a lot to me and I’m afraid I’ll do more harm than good. It’s not in bad condition. Still plays and sounds excellent. Needs all the binding replaced for sure.
Great video, but forgive me if I'm stepping out of place. If you elevate your overspray template and inch or so above the body, the overspray will naturally feather out under the paper and save you some time on the sanding. Prevents hard paint lines
@@dougmaccormack9485 you are the Bob Ross of Restoration, im sure i could bring you anything back too life .ps the speeded up bits when putting the wiring was comedy gold....x
Great craftsmanship! Given the problems in removing the neck what do you think had happened to make the action so high, would it have been some movement in the body structure?

Likely exposed to high heat for an extended period of time. Like in an attic.

I have a 1964 Simi hollow 6120 Chet Atkins that has binding rot.May I send you pictures of it for your opinion? You are truly artistic at what you do.
Yes of course! You may send them to doug@dougmaccormack.com . I'm pretty busy so it might take a few days for me to respond but yes.
Is drilling those holes a standard way to remove those necks? I've never seen that before.
Yes. The screw must be removed of course. Sometimes the neck just pops right off. In this case....not so easy!
Remember Oil Can Harry?
I found that clip on an archives site. Is that where it's from? I've never seen it, no.
you talk too much make it silent ufffff
