- Since it’s Thursday, let me take yall down memory lane..
In 2019 I left my hometown in Virginia, moved to GA for no real reason at all. I just left because I felt like I was not progressing or reaching my full potential (& no this does not mean you need to move to reach your full potential-- that’s just what I NEEDED TO DO FOR ME).
When I left I was barely a hairstylist, I was still making wigs here and there but Chile when I tell y’all I was OVER THAT too. Hair was a stepping stone for me and one of the things I HAD to learn in order to get where I am today. My content creation journey really started with HAIR VIDEOS in 2014 (iykyk). I would stay up til 5am doing hair transformation videos because like I said, YOUR HAIR IS PART OF YOUR OUTFIT.
I was ALWAYS a thrifter but when I moved to GA of July 2019, i decided to create @thriftntell to show the Gworls it’s not what you wear, it’s HOW YOU WEAR IT! I even hosted pop up shops to support other resellers in the community along with live sales to help shed spotlight on the girls who just needed a platform.
A few months later THE BANDEMIC came & the world was shut down. I lowkey thought God shut the world down for me because I didn’t have any money anyway.
2020 was my planting year because EVERYBODY & Their mama was on the internet. There was nothing else to do! I remember doing a vision board & writing down certain things that have now come to fruition. I’m still in awe! Down to being on TV: Good morning America, access Hollywood, the real real to being paid to attend Fashion weeks; ALL FROM THRIFTING & stylehacks. What I did was new for the thrifting community because people weren’t creating the content that I was (I mean they are now but then it was NEW)- thrifting has BEEN AROUND but my delivery was new! thrifting was also not something that people were proud of IN MY COMMUNITY so to see someone like you eating the Gworls up in a $8 outfit shook the table.
Everything I said I was going to do, I did it & there’s more to come!
