Thanks for your informative video. I have a TCLNX E 55 with six Harman Karman front speakers. At the time it was perfect for my ‘office’ TV/ PC monitor . A question, 12 months down the track the A80J TV is still approx RRP $3500 in Australia, I can pick one up for $1800. Do you think it is worth it (just imagine it’s USA dollars value 👍🏼) or should spend more and I get there A90 J?both are 55inch. Will I see a difference compared to the TLC?? Sports clearer? Almost exactly the same. The remote on some Costco models has a switch to turn off the mic. Depending on when you buy it, you may get a longer warranty, as well.
Consumer Reports rated the A80J hdr performance as good, while the A80CJ only rated fair. They say the A80 doesn't get bright enough in hdr mode to bring out the highlights.

I have been buying Sony products since I was a young man. I think I’ve owned a number of the Sony XBR televisions and always thought Sony was the the number 1 retailer when it comes to audio and video equipment. Are old game consoles able to be played on this? I am interested in a new TV, but have lots of ancient systems, like the original Xbox and Nintendo 64 and simply must have a TV that will be able to handle them and not look *too* muddy.

My Sony a80j was so simple to set up through Google the sound is fantastic from the TV remember all your owners out there you have to run in all speakers do you make them sound better no matter what you're using you will have quality in the end just run the speakers in by leaving it on lower volume ordinary programs then music increasing the volume up and down until you're hear clarity It might only take a couple of weeks but you will notice the difference I am enjoying this TV anyway tremendous well done Sony

Bought this tv last week and so disappointed that I can’t even download itv hub or channel 4 and I thought you can get freeview channels without connecting any Ariel or cable to it. Or I might be too thick to find out how to find those apps. And not to mention there is no freeview option :(

But you didn't mention the flaky, buggy, slow google tv. Or the flaky usb ports sometimes working sometimes don't. Or how about the unwanted signal the a80j pushes through earc and makes a popping crackling noise. And speaking of earc so many of my movies, Spectre, Tenet, GoT series, and several others won't play a clean audio, these movies stutter and skip. And why in the hell would you put that "tv" button directly below the down scrolling? I can't tell you how many times I've unintentionally hit that button. And lastly what's up with this a80j shutting itself off in the middle of a viewing? Spending over $3000 on this tv has been full of disappointment.

@@SonyConnect thanks Jay I called your tech support last week. He was pretty unhelpful. The tech support wasn’t interested hearing about my problems his fix was set the tv back to factory. Home home home home home. That hasn’t cured my problems. The crackeling popping I get is out of my speakers. The tv is sending a signal through earc. Yes my marantz sr8012 is earc compatible and I don’t have these movie problems in my Lg C8. The tv shutting of by itself 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t have the sleep timer on. It doesn’t happen all the time 3 times in 5 weeks. And the USB ports not working correctly is the kicker. Sometimes the Sony sees what’s on there and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes if I’m having a network lag I like to watch a movie from a flash drive but they don’t always work. I mentioned very specific movies in my previous post. No matter what I do they won’t play cleanly. They work fine on my C8 so it’s gotta be this Sony
Bravia Core suffers from audio delay. I have high speed internet & even switched off my audio system to use only the TV speakers. No matter what settings I chose under Sound, AV Sync ON, AUTO or OFF, it still wouldn’t match up the audio & video. In my 6+ years of using high end equipment, this is the 1st time I’ve experienced this & it’s infuriating 😤.

Depending on the cause, this issue is often resolved by performing a power reset on your TV. Turn off the TV. Unplug the television power cord (mains lead) from the electrical outlet. Let the television remain without power for 2 minutes. Plug the power cord (mains lead) back into the electrical outlet. Also, make sure your TV has the latest software update installed. If the audio delay only occur when streaming the Bravia Core app, please initialize the app. On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button. Select Settings. Under the TV category, select Apps. Select Bravia Core. Select Clear data, and then OK. Select Clear cache, and then OK. Select Force stop. @@SonyConnect Thanks for all the recommendations Sam. I shall try them tonight. But honestly, I’ve done every one of them already except force stopping the app. I also realized last night that I’m able to connect my Klipsch Sixes via Bluetooth (sounds better), which is surely faster than optical, which is what I was using. But like I said, I did try without any external audio to be certain & try to narrow down the issue. Force stopping the app will probably help, as I started & stopped so many times. The primary reason for that, is that Bravia Core doesn’t allow you to stay paused within it to adjust sound settings. It kicks you back to Google Homes menu, which only adds to the frustration, lol. Other than this & the slight image retention while gaming, I’ve loved the TV. I’d give it a 9.6.

A80J for Gamers and its more brighter to highlight HDR details, so its also better for Movies as well.
Its also $1000 more expensive (a80j)

My Sony a80j was so simple to set up through Google the sound is fantastic from the TV remember all your owners out there you have to run in all speakers do you make them sound better no matter what you're using you will have quality in the end just run the speakers in by leaving it on lower volume ordinary programs then music increasing the volume up and down until you're hear clarity It might only take a couple of weeks but you will notice the difference I am enjoying this TV anyway tremendous well done Sony

Bought this tv last week and so disappointed that I can’t even download itv hub or channel 4 and I thought you can get freeview channels without connecting any Ariel or cable to it. Or I might be too thick to find out how to find those apps. And not to mention there is no freeview option :(

Lads we paid a lot for this TV during a pandemic plus the PS5 having a VRR Firmware update surely can’t be that difficult at least an update !

Note: 120 Hz is supported by HDMI IN 3 and IN 4

But you didn't mention the flaky, buggy, slow google tv. Or the flaky usb ports sometimes working sometimes don't. Or how about the unwanted signal the a80j pushes through earc and makes a popping crackling noise. And speaking of earc so many of my movies, Spectre, Tenet, GoT series, and several others won't play a clean audio, these movies stutter and skip. And why in the hell would you put that "tv" button directly below the down scrolling? I can't tell you how many times I've unintentionally hit that button. And lastly what's up with this a80j shutting itself off in the middle of a viewing? Spending over $3000 on this tv has been full of disappointment.

A crackling or popping sound from your TV is normal and is not a malfunction. These sounds occur when parts expand or contract slightly due to temperature changes in the room or your TV. @@SonyConnect thanks Jay I called your tech support last week. He was pretty unhelpful. The tech support wasn’t interested hearing about my problems his fix was set the tv back to factory. Home home home home home. That hasn’t cured my problems. The crackeling popping I get is out of my speakers. The tv is sending a signal through earc. Yes my marantz sr8012 is earc compatible and I don’t have these movie problems in my Lg C8. The tv shutting of by itself 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t have the sleep timer on. It doesn’t happen all the time 3 times in 5 weeks. And the USB ports not working correctly is the kicker. Sometimes the Sony sees what’s on there and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes if I’m having a network lag I like to watch a movie from a flash drive but they don’t always work. I mentioned very specific movies in my previous post. No matter what I do they won’t play cleanly. They work fine on my C8 so it’s gotta be this Sony
Bravia Core suffers from audio delay. I have high speed internet & even switched off my audio system to use only the TV speakers. No matter what settings I chose under Sound, AV Sync ON, AUTO or OFF, it still wouldn’t match up the audio & video. In my 6+ years of using high end equipment, this is the 1st time I’ve experienced this & it’s infuriating 😤.
Hi Sensei's Protege, We are sorry to hear about the issue you are having. To better isolate the issue, please check if other streaming video apps also has this issue. Depending on the cause, this issue is often resolved by performing a power reset on your TV.
Turn off the TV.
Unplug the television power cord (mains lead) from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 2 minutes.
Plug the power cord (mains lead) back into the electrical outlet.
Also, make sure your TV has the latest software update installed.
If the audio delay only occur when streaming the Bravia Core app, please initialize the app.
On the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
Select Settings.
Under the TV category, select Apps.
Select Bravia Core.
Select Clear data, and then OK.
Select Clear cache, and then OK.
Select Force stop.
Open Bravia Core from the Home screen and test the app.

@@SonyConnect Thanks for all the recommendations Sam. I shall try them tonight. But honestly, I’ve done every one of them already except force stopping the app.
I also realized last night that I’m able to connect my Klipsch Sixes via Bluetooth (sounds better), which is surely faster than optical, which is what I was using.
But like I said, I did try without any external audio to be certain & try to narrow down the issue.
Force stopping the app will probably help, as I started & stopped so many times. The primary reason for that, is that Bravia Core doesn’t allow you to stay paused within it to adjust sound settings. It kicks you back to Google Homes menu, which only adds to the frustration, lol.
Other than this & the slight image retention while gaming, I’ve loved the TV. I’d give it a 9.6.
@@SonyConnect UPDATE: Fixed!!! It seemed to the optical audio cable. Connected via Bluetooth now & it works beautifully
