Always looking forward to your videos. I remember the 1st time seeing one was during a spray painting theory class. Our skills facilitator played us a clip to illustrate techniques etc. I've been subscribed ever since
hey gunman we used to mix our candy with extra binder to make it more transparent then layer it more times to get it more even. then less depends on how perfect you spray it just layer it more. The old days this product was lacquer. and we used more thinner now we use binder or base clear some guys call it.
The thought occurred to me later, about the overspray from the chrome product. Because it's a downdraft booth the air is coming down over the panel. So if you always start spraying from the bottom of the panel up to the top, then you increase the chance of overspray on everything except the top of the panel. In a Cross draft booth, you will get overspray on the hood of a vehicle from the panels furthest from the exhaust, and that's why the vehicle would be placed with the hood closest to the exhaust so that painters could really wet out the hood and melt in the overspray. This might alleviate some of the problem...but I've never sprayed chrome so this is only a suggestion.
I am a model car builder. You have given me some ideas for painting a model. I love the color. I am sure using the same product you used is too expensive but maybe I can use others to achieve the same results. I'll have to see. By the way I have used two automotive paint brands and have had great results. I even have used fingernail polish with great success. My saying is if it can go through my airbrush then I will give it a try. I love blues and purples so I bet they would look great over chrome too. Thanks for the video.
All the painting directions iv read say spray a strip then your next strip spray half over the first strip. You went more like 2/3 overlap an looks way better even from a video then anything iv tried. Plus your booth an air flow leaving the booth.. nice vid.
After putting the virtual Chrome down I heard you're supposed to wait about 10-15 minutes and take a rag and wipe the dust off and the chrome comes to a mirror finish ? did you try that?
Hi I am wondering how much of the chrome paint do you think you would need to do 2 bumpers on a VC Val mate . I am looking at the kits now but not sure now much to get
Just a question, will this work on stainless allen bolts? I've been planning on spraying them with glossy black then chrome then gold. Will it have the "chrome gold" effect?
hey gunman I see your storage of quality guns is getting pretty big why don't you share one of them with a fellow preper that's getting ready to make that jump to a part time painter at my shop, I'm using a cheap fx3000 for my finishing jobs while my fellow co workers use there satas and iwatas kinda sucks gunman!
Sweet! And such a great look. Gunny, is it possible to get this look using only base coats rather than 2 part paints? Our gang builds competitive aerobatic models and weight is always a problem. By the way, in May the model aviation world championships are in Perth. Thanks again! Bob from Texas
Hi, Is this type of special coating given to it with nickel chrome or is it a normal coating and what is the material that was sprayed after painting the black color before spraying the silver color?
I have a project for my Crown Vic. My plan is Hot Rod Black base. Then a thin coat of Deep Purple Micro Flakes from DYC. I have 15g of it. And on top Brandywine Candy High Gloss.. Honestly I have no clue how it will turn out. Is it possible you can replicate that on a A4 template? I would really like to see if it's a good idea. Got all materials ready for it.
Ur awesome dude! Keep up with your videos and I would like to see something with black Base and a purple effekt shaded from front ato back ,frome bottom and up .Datsun 240z😉 i would prefer is the object cause that's my upper coming project. Best regards from Sweden 👊
Hi i have a couple of questions. I own " HYDROGRAPHIC WORKX " and was last week introduced to hydrochrome, after buying a hydrographic printer of a dude that had gone from doing hydrographics to hydrochrome. So seeing how easy it looked straight away knew i was going to expand my business,And im about to order a full set up, whilst i was at this dudes workshop i asked him a few questions about the hydrochrome .However he was like " IM NOT TELLING YOU TO MUCH " even though id travelled for over 2hrs to get the printer,so there would be no chance of me taking his customers..On seeing the items he had just chromed i thought sraight away being a car painter for 28yrs thought. The prepping process has to be the same as sparaying a car say, where as you would take the shine off the original paint then 2k filler prime the car then flat the 2k primer smooth then apply the colour and then clear coat. However is this the same with all materials as i watched a toilet being hydrochromed,so would i be right in saying there is a product on the market that keys pottery, like plastic primer as the product i use is clear and i can paint straight over the top of it if i wished to.i never do though i always apply 2k fillerprimer on any paint work i do.The hydrochrome system im about to buy is from these guys customcreationpaints.co.uk/ has anyone used the product there selling and is it top quality,if not can someone point me in the right direction as to where i can buy the set up from.. i also buy accident damaged cars and repair them to keep me busy when im quiet on the hydrographics,so know that im going to be itching to get a car in my paint booth within a couple of weeks to hydrochrome it ,then paint a candy colour clear coat over the top or illusion paint haha. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and any help as to what to watch out for and best way to achieve the best results
What gun are you using to spray this? I may have missed it if you told us. Looks like you hold your guns 4-6 inches from the surface. Its working whatever it is
Great job Gunman ! I may try my hand at this with a bumper. Just virtual chrome no candy. DNA is the best looking chrome out of a gun I have ever seen ! Did you shoot this video in Thailand ? Thanks !
It is a little daunting when you get the kit and you're like shit all these products but if you break it down to simple steps then it's not that bad, yeah I agree its the best on the market and will last.
***** Seriously man enamel is not even close to the quality of 2k clear, I would be interested to know what your experience is as to what on earth would make you think that a polyurethane 2k clear is worse than an enamel.
+The Gunman Wow, couldn't agree with you more Gunman. Enamel is shit. I don't know anyone who uses it anymore. Begins to fade right away and piss poor gloss and color holdout. I would be more happy living with rusty panels and call it patina ! 😅
***** As you said about polishing acrylic and enamel exactly the same applies for 2 pack (2k) polyurethane and believe the 2k will last longer before it needs polishing, enamel and acrylic from my experience need much more polishing to achieve the same results and are more likely to scratch as you say from touching or even washing. I aren't taking offence man all good and enjoy the discussion. did you see my video on spraying acrylic paint? thegunman.net.au/how-to-spray-acrylic-paint/
+dirtTdude Welcome to the new age. I'm a detailer and clear coats are scratch sensitive but it beats the fading for sure. To keep a clear coated finish perfect you have to do two bucket method hand washes with completely clean microfiber wash mitts. That with a weekly wash will get you perfect paint for almost a year with zero polishing. Ask me how I know. I polished my bosses Chevy SS and kept it looking great for a solid year that way. If you wax the finish after the paint has completely cured be sure to use clean high quality microfiber towels.
This is awesome! Does this only work with this DNA paint? Usually, painting over chrome with candy or even clear for that matter results in instant fog and killing the chrome effect entirely. Also, is this a durable finish? Isn't the clear going to delaminate without sanding before it? 🤔 I'm assuming that's a 2k clear.
How to get the color attachment if it's polished surface of the substrate, must loosen incredibly easy at any pressure or external influences ?? //Benny
I am very new to painting, trying to learn off these videos for a DIY candy bike respray, so sorry if questions are very stupid, BUT - How does the color underneath matter/change the finish? Surely, if you put a yellow in 3 layers over the top the chrome underneath is completely covered. Or is there something I am missing? Thanks for any help!
Holy crap, that chrome really pops, even more so with the candy on top. Lovely job!
I bought my GTI Pro (tekna in US) about 6 months because of this man and I've loved it ever since. Thanks Gunman!!
Awesome gun.
WILL try this on my motorcycle tank.
That looks incredible, you can use any of my cars as a "test panel" any day!
I have a 2003 Corvette convertible with this gold lime color candy it looks beautiful
Very cool!! When I get set up I plan on using some of your techniques on painting 1/25 scale models. Getting tired of just standard colors!
That looks top notch gunman. Great vid.
Always looking forward to your videos. I remember the 1st time seeing one was during a spray painting theory class. Our skills facilitator played us a clip to illustrate techniques etc. I've been subscribed ever since
Awesome.
Thank you for taking your time and making this video.
Looks awesome....great work,love the colour
Looks really good. I need some of this DNA paint for black chrome bumpers on my Chevelle.
The best candy painting in youtube!
Beautiful, it looks like gold! You can do wonders with coatings my friend!!
Orange candy would look sweet on that chrome! 👍

No worries man, I'm glad it's inspired you.
you can do anything with an airbrush. up above one joker says it would take hours to paint an auto engine room with an airbrush- WRONG AGAIN
once again ty for saving me money trying to learn something i'd probably get wrong
You should wet sand and either flow coat or buff and see if the shine/reflection is better ❤
The fender came out real nice
Very cool! I have been waiting for a chance to use PPG's Vibrance version of the virtual chrome. Enjoyed the vid.
Thanks for watching
Like it you are a good chrome painter.
All the painting directions iv read say spray a strip then your next strip spray half over the first strip. You went more like 2/3 overlap an looks way better even from a video then anything iv tried. Plus your booth an air flow leaving the booth.. nice vid.
I really like this. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Love your work, alot of help.
man this paint looks wicked Amazing
You're my hero for now.
😉
Could you use that exact system on motorcycle plastic fairings???
You will have better results with V-chrome if you do X-patterns in the field as a step of each coat.
Beautiful.
Man..I wish i could see this in the sun
i realy love the result the color is fantastic :-)
hey gunman cool vid.one thing I noticed is that ur chrome finish didn't. have that mirror look it looked blurred why is that?
that looks really cool
It can be done on exhaust tips? using high temperature primer?? Looks so fkng great.
I couldn't guarantee it would hold
Hi I am wondering how much of the chrome paint do you think you would need to do 2 bumpers on a VC Val mate . I am looking at the kits now but not sure now much to get
Thanks, Once again a good Informative Vid ..
Just a question, will this work on stainless allen bolts? I've been planning on spraying them with glossy black then chrome then gold. Will it have the "chrome gold" effect?

I'm looking into painting a Holden gemini in this colour by DNA next week. How many litres of paint and gloss do I need roughly?
is chrome the go to basecoat for any candy colors?
that's after the black color went up clear, it continued to go up silver or chrome.. sorry to know what you're talking about🙏🙏😊😊
Hi, Is this type of special coating given to it with nickel chrome or is it a normal coating and what is the material that was sprayed after painting the black color before spraying the silver color?
Can it be done using spray can paint? I'm planning to do a candy over chrome too in a steel bike tia.!
Do they sell the DNA chrome in the states? And if so how does it compare to Alsa Corp?
Wow!!! After you sprayed the clear, how much time did you wait to spray the silver ???
Verry nice vid again ..thnx
Got any advice for painting stainless
Do you think you would have gotten better, more even coverage with a higher quality gun than the mini that was used to apply the chrome?
+Ben Weiss maybe, I just used it because it was recommended by DNA
have you tried the eastwood aresol gun cleaner
nice job!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ur awesome dude! Keep up with your videos and I would like to see something with black Base and a purple effekt shaded from front ato back ,frome bottom and up .Datsun 240z😉 i would prefer is the object cause that's my upper coming project. Best regards from Sweden 👊
You should paint your arms with something to make your tattoos more vivid.
Want to paint my motorcycle with this😊
Can you do a sample of The Camaro Bumblebee color in Transformers?
Just wondering would this chrome work with mutant crystal?
What mini spray gun model was used in this second half of the video?

Hi gunman which brand did you recommend me for chrome mirror & chrome gold
Is the devilbiss GTI the same as the Tekna Pro in the USA ???
What grit sandpaper are you prepping with?

that would look really good in a engine compartment does it have to be a mini gun or would a airbrush work looks good too
nunya your business An airbrush would take you 3 years just to do a firewall!
@@edwardzx7 obviously, you've never seen a proficient automotive airbrush painter

The candy colors are transparent dyes, so it'll only really "cover up" the chrome/metallic underneath if you spray too many coats.
Nice!
