A week ago I got back from guiding workshops in Death Valley and Eastern Sierras. For some tight low angles and overall scenes I decided to use the ZV1 over my A7R3. Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you Have you taken it yet?
I set up the zhiyun m2 crane with my ZV1 and it worked great. I didn’t like that the ZV1 was 24mm at its widest, it was just way too tight for vlogging selfie/walk-n-talk/walking videos. For that reason I actually sold my ZV1 and just got the ZV1F yesterday! It’s a little tight fit, but the zhiyun m2 crane will fit the ZV1F. The 20mm focal length is perfect. You don’t feel like you’re having to extend your arm all the way out just to get a decent selfie with some adequate background. Also, the wider angle allows for more steady shooting as your walking while using the gimble. I think that the product feature setting is a little bit slower than the ZV1 but not a huge deal. The ZV1 had a really quick and lightning fast product feature focus switch whereas the ZV1F is slow-going and seems to have difficulty in re-focusing on different subjects. In general, i think that the ZV1F is more suited to street-photography or street shooting videos such as walking tours videos or vacation vlogging at destinations with lots of scenery. I also appreciate that the lens doesn’t telescope on the ZV1F so it won’t mess up the balancing on a gimble.
