Epic performance! Roger’s Koto patch is gorgeous. Saw the warmup gig for this tour @ One Step Beyond in Santa Clara. Roger got me after show passes. Michele was holding a very young Rebop. The musicianship on this tour was incredible! Roger confesses to me he always felt emotionally overtaken when performing Hiroshima. Especially in Japan!
Saw Utopia on the RA tour at the Glasgow Apollo in the 70s, brilliant show, great musicianship, outstanding set. I'm now 64yrs of age & have been a fan of Todd Rundgren since I was 16 yrs of age.
I was so fortunate to live in the Era of Todd Rundgrens music ~ his band Utopia was more than amazing ~ He and THEY were amazingly WONDERFUL 🎶 ~ LOVE TO YOU ALL wherever you are NOW ~ I still cherish the memories you've left w/ me 🥰 ~🎶 I'll NEVER forget ~ A Million Thanks XOXOOOO 💋
Sad this great piece of art!To my friend Japan and those who remember!Wars of any kind suck!Great piece!Todd's comments on nuclear war first of its kind!Great harmonies great musicianship whether you agree or not!Todd and Utopia unique! From album Ra
Just look at this world now in which we live, didn,t fry enough of them as far as i;m concerned, and my grandfather lost his life fighting these things.FOR WHAT?
I remember when Redux Live CD was rereleased in 2000 i think..i'd never heard of it and i was amazed the film and recordings survived and were released..with most songs from 'Ra' and 'Oops' ..Todd is god.
The Ra album and this song in particular was a landmark album that got our band into progressive and fusion music back in 1977, of course, along with all the other great bands. Sadly, I never got to see the original concert tour with the pyramid, our bass player did and never stopped talking about it.
Notice its a Kurzweil keyboard the dude who says he won't die!Interesting!Anyway another tune from Ra which in spite of critics I thought great album great musicians still better than a lot today!Utopias Ra album!
Could you imagine this show available in mint condition? This is so powerful and the audience in Japan are transfixed. Glad to finally see this live. Todd fan since Runt came out. And bought everything he put out as it came out, since. Thanks Harry.
I've tried several times to post the studio version only to have it taken down even before the upload was complete...or even have the channel removed...enjoy what I can provide...*sheesh*
This song does cut to the chase and gives a listener a feel of horror and pain and heat those blasts out off. It isn’t appropriate to hear this as anything but a musical interpretation of what that event must have felt like on the ground. Todd’s guitar on the studio version is even nastier than this. Anyone with feels that listens to this should come away with a reverence that what happened over Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a power that human beings are not advanced enough as a specie to be able to handle. Everything I hear this song I get that feeling of instant death.
Jerrold Fieldjerfi218 thank you...should have known that...I have the LP but haven't listened to in a long time because of a lack of a turntable...that album never resonated with me outside of 3 or 4 songs.
bw020566 Thats the second time I submitted that answer to another person who asked the same thing as it was tacked on to the end of a live version of DONT YOU EVER LEARN.

"Worst song ever"? Horseshit. 99.9999999% of all the songs in existance are WAAAY worse than this! And I'm not even including tossers like Justin Beiber in there (we all know that's not music anyway!)
Hilarious. I loved this song as a teenager, but I must admit I had to force myself to listen to the whole video. The ending was worth it. they pulled it off beautifully. Watch "Liars Live at the Egg" for some killer Todd or Darrell's House.
... one of if not the most emotionally powerful songs I've ever heard ... and Todd's lead solos near the end ... goose bumps ...
even teary eyes can happen. It's a very effective work. Thanks Todd. He more than rocks.

Hey can you tell me what the song is that you put at the end of all your videos???
EXCELLENT!!!!
Wow amazing
I didn't know this Todd's performance. I really appreciate them as a Japanese at 6th Aug. 2018
I watched this on my copy of REDUX the other night with some friends. The audience is frozen in their seats, but went wild afterwards
just awesome. I have a copy of this disc...it's outstanding
What to do.. I have 7 Utopia, and 3 TR VHS tapes.. No VCR.. Well, thankfully you have refreshed a fan's memory!!
I saw Utopia on the "Ra" tour in 1977 in Glasgow, just after this album was released, and this was every bit as good as then!
So outstandingly powerful. Thank G-d my bf turned me on to Todd's Utopia!!!!!!
Incredible performance
Awesome live version, wow!
Brilliant!
This is intense.
Awesome, thanks for this.... :-)
71 years ago - as of tomorrow from the time & space I am writing this. God help us.

Cool to see this again, I remember seeing this in concert during the RA tour back in 70's what a bitchin great concert it was....
J Jones lucky you...I wished to hear hendrix close Woodstock and I would be happy
so great tune...played the crap out on the air
Harmony is beautiful and the lyrics have such weight too !! Better than the album version !
What man invents man uses.
What a live performance. How about a reunion?
Prophetic statement!
The reunion sucked without Roger!
Hendrix’s machine gun and this....wow! Don’t you ever forget!
Fantastique
Kas is such a babe here.
Don’t you ever fucking forget!
Happy Hiroshima Day... :(

who's the drummer on this one?
Willie Wilcox
Question....at the end of this song, there is a snippet of another. What song is that? What album?
bw020566 its not a full song but a short tag at the end of AN ELPEES WORTH OF TUNES from TODD LP.
Jerrold Fieldjerfi218 thank you...should have known that...I have the LP but haven't listened to in a long time because of a lack of a turntable...that album never resonated with me outside of 3 or 4 songs.

Jerrold Fieldjerfi218 I think it's the "signature" of the guy who uploads these tracks
Chris Treacy. I agree
Today marks 75 years since the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945.
Holds true today with Russia threatening atomic annihilation.

How about a little fanfare, a little fanfare? (from the album Todd)
Hilarious. I loved this song as a teenager, but I must admit I had to force myself to listen to the whole video. The ending was worth it. they pulled it off beautifully. Watch "Liars Live at the Egg" for some killer Todd or Darrell's House.
