There's at least one person who has played "Water Hazard" this way just because he completely missed the airboat. He described his ordeal on Reddit, and how at the time he thought Valve was so clever for forcing the player to use the physics engine, floating mechanic, item transfer mechanic, etc.
@@KazyMatman Well he didn't make it all the way through the level, he eventually reached a point where he had to give up and look up a guide, which is how he found out about the airboat 😂 I don't remember the exact details but I assume he got stuck at around the same point as you, though maybe it was earlier since I doubt he knew tricks like prop-flying and going out of bounds.
Yeees, perfect thing to watch while eating my breakfast. Also tip to see invisible walls, you can use the command r_drawclipbrushes 1 (only the outlines and through walls) or 2 (solid blocks) if you don't put a number it'll explain what the different colours of the walls mean.
"i kill all the zombies in the tunnel except for one, so he can his zombie friends to not rely on car centric infrastructure" i've lost it there, good job
Your title says "driving", not "using", so by using the power of semantics, I'd say hopping in the airboat, starting the engine, then leaving it again does not count as driving it. If you had used the word "using" or "operating" instead of driving, then it 100% would have counted.
Dear aurhor, i want to point out some thoughts about our run. I mean ,i thinks, you overcomplicate some segments. 1: 2:07 - you could just wlk STRAIGHT FORWARD on this green forest with drawn trees (which you can walk through) and THEN jump down this wall before you. It can SWIFTLY get you to next map. Because map d1_canals _06 it's some kina corcle-like. Because after driving onto this toxic wastes you drive to another side of this wall you can jump over from this green meadow straigh forwarding you from 2:07 to 5:11 XD 2: 14:18 - you could reject Odessa's present-RPG and go to your way wothout spawning gunship llol XD Wy? Because on next mapone road ,where located car dump ,where you fighting another gunship - one of corpses have another PPG XD 3: and if i talk about this car dump ,which you don't shown in this video, i try to describe, tat i mean... 14:30 looking at this ladder at front of you in the far you can see this hghway road whth a car dump .In this segment you could DON'T use a crane and don't spawn another gunship walking to this road on 14:54. All that you need - use your secret rock climbing abilities (which is a simple enough to do) - and you reach your goal - don't use a buggy and a crane and can acqure an RPG from a corpse nearby... ^_^ Good luck ,good htalth to you and and how about a video on episode 2 vehicle challenge?
What if there was a mod that focused on either of the vehicles? You'd play as an ordinary rebel. If it's the airboat, it takes place right after Gordon uses it. If it's the dume buggy, it would take place some time before Gordon uses it. In either case, the maps should be constructed for maximum action movie-style stunts and over-the-top Carmageddon stuff. 0:43 But now you're The Toxic Avenger.
Sitting in a stationary vehicle, and pushing a vehicle, definitely don't count as "uses." The gravity gun can even be used to shove vehicles into triggers etc. I think using ABH as a "casual' is far more contentious, but a lot of those obstacles could probably also be bypassed with hours of prop-collecting and -stacking, so that's a wash lol
I have a custom difficulty challenge if you want to try it, there's a $100AUD bounty if you manage to beat it deathless Realistic mode, weapons do realistic damage (yours and the AI) and healing is almost non-existent, armor is much more plentiful though I can send you the skill.cfg if you want
There's something way way waayy cooler than backwards accelarated bhopping, its called accelarated sideways bhopping in which you bhop as fast as backwards but you can see whats in front of you while being able to bhop ultra fast, but it has 1 small issue, its moving you left or right depending on which side are you bhopping on, i prefer right.
at shorepoint, you dont need to bhop that bridge, theres a hill just up the road and i believe you can weasel your way through, though i havent tested it in a bit.
As far as I'm concerned, just being in a car does not make you the driver, even if you are in the driver's seat. So I think four uses of the boat is fair. I was quite surprised that the ramp was an impassable hurdle. It would seem like there's plenty of weird little ledges and props to get through there. But I guess Valve were uncharacteristically thorough for no apparent reason. Looking forward to Episode 2. There are some very bizarre triggers in those levels. I've only tried futzing about with a few, but I'm sure there is a deceptively huge number of ways to completely shatter the game's idea of how you're supposed to be navigating.
Looks like Gordon is going to heaven at 1:48.

Bruh that's crazy! How did he get past the long acid tunnel?

The right ABH in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world
15:55 Don't worry, Leon followed you in the car

Thanks!
2:31 instead of using noclip, you could instead do r_drawclipbrushes 2 to show the invisible walls (a command that doesn't need server cheats to work)
That's neat, I'll be sure to keep it in mind.

Besides, if it did count, it would force the train to be counted as well
ngl 5:54 had me dead
Great video man!
Thank you!
I think via the rule you had with the train also counts with the airboat, you didn't drive the airboat, you ONLY entered it.
This seems to be the common sentiment. Thanks for weighing in!

Started playing it again, got to the buggy, had an "I wonder..." moment.
Thanks for the thorough attempt so I didn't have to do it myself!

Bhopping isn't too hard to learn and I think most casual fans can learn to do it. It's one of those things that's easy to learn, hard to master.
14:37 another way through is to climb up the wall to the right using props and hugging the fence as you move along the ledge
Useful, i’m playing in vr & the vehicles are very motions sickness inducin

Yeah you can send it over. I don't know when I'll get around to doing it but I'll keep it in mind.
@@KazyMatman you have somewhere I can contact, you like a subreddit or something
@@mwbgaming28 My discord is in the description!
2:44 I am surprised you just didn't use the command to show invisible walls
I didn't know of it at the time.
Gordon got turned into a quake 4 strog (metal legs)
Speedrunners: Pathetic
Yeah I know, I'm pretty bad. 😂
I wouldn't consider the crane to be a vehicle

Great run anyway
good vid!
Tanks so much!
I'd say that neither pushing, nor just sitting inside counts as driving
nice video im touching myself rn
what
keep up the goated work. i agree with the other comments, it doesnt count
Can you finish hl without mouse 1? Great video btw.
Combine stole all the fuel :(
It's been 20 year too, it's all bad by now. LOL

Yeah it's weird that there are so many invisible walls. How many play testers got around the normal walls that invisible ones had to be made?🤔
Is it illegal for someone without a driver's license to start up a car?
dude cant bhob for shiz. the whole challange wack without crazy momentum and cool airstrafes
hi
