Great flight demo Michael. That plane looks really good in your hands, it looks like it would help someone transitioning to the next level learning more advanced maneuvers without putting a lot of money at risk. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful flying, Michael - as always! I mean the promo video from HH is pretty cool already, but I like yours even better 😊. Actually, I was just about to purchase the UMX Turbo Timber or Timber X and I was happy that I had such a hard time to decide on which one. Then the announcement of the new Timber Evo arrived. Besides all of the flying capabilities, I thing just the sound level is worth deciding for this one. Seems like with the development of the Voodoo, E-flite learned that UMX-es on 2 or 3S do not have to scream 😆. What an amazing little plane - I can't wait it to come abroad, but I'm afraid that this will still take some time 🙄
Yes!!! Was hoping you’d get this model! Just picked one up today from my local hobby store. Seems super capable! Love the other UMX Timbers and this one really looks solid! Great flight!!
Thanks Jay, I like to try and give the best demonstration possible without getting into major modifications or programming changes. Other than increasing the available mechanical control throw.
Hi Michael, great flying, inspirational to watch especially when you fly aircraft like the timber, it gives all of us UMX owners something to aim towards, and shows all the critics of small foamies what real skill looks like. Please can you tell me, when you knife edge your timbers are you flying it manually on all channels, or have you set up mixing to help take some of the pilot load? Thanks for all the great videos keep them coming.
Thank you for your comments!!! I have never set up a knife edge mix and prefer to fly knife edge manually. It’s mostly because I’m old school (yes I am old) and that’s how I learned to knife edge. I guess it’s just what I am comfortable with.
Awesome Flight. Really showed off it’s capabilities. 🎉🎉🎉 Love mine. Can fly it anywhere. Had a few warrenty issues but even with the issues it still flies great.😂
I currently fly with my thumbs on top of the sticks and have since I started in 1973. This could change down the road as while I am still 15 years old between the ears my thumbs are 65 years old and not as steady as they once were. I will probably need to go to the pinch to smooth them out again. Depending on the plane I run anywhere from 25% expo to 65% expo but generally I use 30% to 40%. I was flying with 25% expo on all 3 surfaces in the video but I'm going to increase the expo on the elevator as it still a little sensitive.
@@michaelclinerc3211 Thanks so much for the sanity check. I'm 62 and only started flying RC 3 years ago...I'm hooked! I've been setting up my planes with plenty of expo (25% min), as I feel that I need to numb the center in order to smoothly modulate the control surfaces. I couldn't imagine being one of the guys that says "Expo? What's that?"...stick movements would need to be tiny in order to fly smoothly. I'm a fan of expo verses reducing rates, I've been bit by low rates when I've not had the movement when needed. Oh...I'm stuck on thumbs too, I started that way and made some attempts to go to pinching, but it was just too awkward for me. While I really like a bunch of the RC folks, in my opinion you are the smoothest, most technical RC pilot I've ever seen. Adam at Model AV8R is a close 2nd. 😉
@@gmorphan When I first learned to fly in 1973 my instructor was a pattern flyer and he emphasized smooth deliberate flying. He also made it a point to teach me about maneuver placement in relation to the flight line and to try and center each maneuver you perform. @@michaelclinerc3211 Makes a lot of sense..."always fly with a purpose and a plan" as Michael Wargo would say. Around here the Pattern Flyers are known as the "boring, no fun, stiff shirt, RC Nazi's". Maybe I need to become one of them to get better. 🤔🤣
@@gmorphan Nice to see you youngsters getting into the hobby. 😊 I'm 78 and also started flying about 3 years ago. I generally set up 3 rates of 50, 75 and 100 percent throws. Almost always 50 % EXPO on low rate and 30 % on mid and high rates. Oh, thumbs. 👍
Thank you! I prefer the UMX Turbo Timber Evolution as it is set up more for smooth aerobic flying which is my preferred style. The UMX Timber X is set up for 3D flying, which I also enjoy, but I still prefer the Evolution.
Thanks Adam! The Pitts is fun but I think this newest version of the UMX Timber is the amazing. I was doing effortless knife edge loops with it last evening. It tracks through them very nicely but be ready to correct with aileron to counteract the roll coupling on the final 1/4 of the loop.
Yeah, but the Pitts screeeeeams 😆 - I still love it, too! The sound level of the Timber seems to be comparable to the P-51 Voodoo. The minute you hear it, it's time do duck... 😄
I just maidened the new UMX Pitts a few weeks ago. I struggled with it at first (didn't really like it), but then figured out it needs some level of throttle ALL THE TIME! Now I've grown to really enjoy flying it...though I'm not nearly as talented as you guys.
Nice flying. Loved watching that. 1question- why is that so quiet compared to the umx x and the umx t timber. The umx Tt and x are both as loud as each other . Thanks
@@michaelclinerc3211 haha I didn’t realise I was asking the same person twice 😊 the noise difference is the reason I’m going to wait for the evo to be available in the uk in July!! We have a long wait compared to you guys. Thanks for the info
I just got this bird and flew it. I’m not liking the differential on the ailerons. One aileron full up the other side barely down. In this video are you flying it stock out of the box? I’m not liking the roll rate. How can I improve the roll rate? Thanks
Other than mechanically maxing out the elevator and rudder control throw it is stock. With this plane you do need to keep the speed up to increase the effectiveness of the ailerons. If you slow down too much they get mushy.
@@michaelclinerc3211 Thanks. And lots of RC people say to get the NX6 now...😳 Great reviews. Your thoughts? I'm learning and aspire to just easy good flying not stunts, then easy casual bush.
I aspire to fly like you. One of these days! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Mikey!!! Keep practicing and you’ll get there!

Thanks Tony! Yes, I would agree that, because it flies like a much bigger plane, it would be perfect for working on more advanced maneuvers.
Mad flying skills right there. The plane is just an extension of your fingertips. Bravo! 👏🏻😊 Love the Timber line from HH. ❤️
Thank you for your kind words! Horizon got this one spot on as it really cranks up the level of flight performance over other UMX's.

Great video. I'll eventually get this one also.
Appears to fly smoother than my UMX Timber X. I'll be getting this one sometime this flying season.
I’m really liking it more than the UMX Timber X.
Excellent, Michael - as usual! Can hardly wait to fly mine! (Gotta wait for the last round of snow to melt.)
You are really going to enjoy it Joel. HH took it up a notch with this one.
looks like a great plane
It flies incredible. Much like a bigger plane than a UMX. It's also great on floats!
Absolutely AMAZING! Great job Michael, you really make it look easy! Thanks so much for posting this my friend, happy landings and all the best!
Thanks John! I’ll be looking forward to seeing your video of the UMX Turbo Timber Evo from the dry lake bed.

I highly recommend it. I think it flies great.
Excellent flying skills! 👍🏻🙂

Okay...2-1/2 years of watching you fly so smoothly, I gotta ask a couple of questions. 1) Thumbs or pincher? 2) How much expo do you tend to use?

Almost looks faster than the umx timber x 😮
It is faster than the UMX Timber X. The motor in the UMX Turbo Timber Evolution has a slightly higher KV and the propeller has a bit more pitch.
When in doubt...add more power. Never seems to go wrong!
The added power does help. I could never get nice big outside loops with the original.
I hear you this is the Best UMX plane of all time
It definitely is for my flying style. I like how it flies like a much bigger airplane but has all the convenience of a UMX.
Great flying you make it look so easy

Are you flying with the slats on
Thanks Brian! I am not using the slats on mine.
Fantastic flying! It looks great. It appears it doesn't scream as most other UMX planes do?
Thanks LAPEOS! It is very quiet. I was so fun flying and listening to the birds chirping. I do not miss the load whine from previous UMX's at all.

It uses the red JST connector.

Great plane until it flips over and nose dives into the ground full throttle. And yes my safe was on and also I don’t fly upside down.
So sorry to hear that. Contact Horizon and they should help you out.
