    Super cool! I like the transmitter shot in the nose of the fpv cam!

    I love how you guys show us how clunky it can be to get up and running. For real 💯I appreciate that you put that truth into your clip because that's 💯RC plane flying
    To me. And yeah, I have one of those timber turbo evos

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah there’s a lot of behind the scenes that goes on, and there’s usually something that doesn’t go right. But it’s all part of the fun of RC!

    I finally got my UMX turbo Timber Evolution yesterday 6 months after I pre-ordered it not too happy with Horizon Hobbies. Where do you guys hook up the power for your camera? Did you solder wires to the battery? Can't wait to fly fpv! Have fun stay safe

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  10 місяців тому +1

      Yeah unfortunately we ran into a similar problem with trying to get our planes from Horizon Hobby, however once we switched to Hub Hobby we had no issues!
      We've tried two different methods for connecting the camera to the plane:
      1. *External battery*: The camera that we use has a 1s battery lead, and by taping a 1s battery (amzn.to/3PjP4fd) to the outside, it is an easy link to the camera.
      Pros: Easy connection. No soldering. Simple.
      Cons: Extra weight in the battery. You have to charge an extra battery when you go fly. There's a chance the small battery runs out of juice when you're flying, and then you'd have to take the goggles off and fly down line of sight.
      2. *Soldering to the board*: There is a few spare ports on the board and if you buy a connector (amzn.to/3PlPjXp) you can cut and solder it to the camera. This will directly connect the camera to the power supply to the plane.
      Pros: Your camera will never run out of battery when you're flying. Saving weight by not having an external battery. No need to charge an extra battery.
      Cons: Minor soldering. Slightly (really not that much) reduced flight time because of power draw to power the camera.
      We've done both, but we prefer option 2 because of the simplicity when it comes to daily flying, and not needing an external battery to charge is huge.
      Let us know if you have any more questions!
      (We've also had this question a few times, so maybe that's a sign that we should make a video about it 😂)

      @@InvertedAviatorsRC how did you guys hook up your camera to power do you have a separate battery for it? Or does it plug into the airplane somewhere?

    Do you get stereoscopic video out of it or is it just two screens in there to give you better fov?

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  8 місяців тому

      There are two screens, each with its own lens for each eye. Depending on the model of goggle, the screen can even feel farther or closer to your eyes

    Lol I commented in the previos video I was afraid of crashing mine... today I flew the thing right into the ground, nose first. I took off without SAFE, it started doing what it should do without stabilization and I crashed it. It broke into 4 pieces. Motor dangling and all. Luckily it broke cleanly enough to just glue it back together like a puzzle and it was flying around 30 mins later lol. That felt awful though... if I lose it I wont be able to get another one for quite a while...

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  11 місяців тому +2

      Well we always say, “the day you stop crashing is the day you stop flying”, and make sure to take a lesson away from every “incidental landing” 😊 Also, if you (or anyone else) crashes again, reach out to us and we can make a video fixing it up, and then send it back to you!

    Why do you fly the UMX TTE with flaps deployed so much during the flight

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  8 місяців тому

      We love how slow it can go, while still maintaining lots of maneuverability. It’s also a fun challenge to fly as close to stall speed as possible while still keeping control, but at the end of the day I love the fact that such a small plane has flaps, so might as well use them!

    I have the same camera on the timber and I’m curious how good the camera quality is because I have a cheap monitor for the camera and I was wondering if buying expensive Fpv goggles would change the quality? Thanks, awesome vid by the way 😎

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  6 місяців тому

      Thank you very much! We were surprised by how nice the little AIO camera really is, mixed with how easy and small it is.
      Having a nicer pair of goggles can provide a few benefits:
      - You won't get any light leak when you're flying, which makes the colors of the video feed stand out more.
      - If you get a really nice pair of goggles (like the DJI Goggles v2), the resolution of the screens in the goggles is higher, resulting in a larger, clearer picture.
      - Nicer goggles will also have higher contrast between the light and dark pixels, once again making the quality look nicer.
      Ultimately its all up to how much you want to put into it, but we really love having nicer goggles to get the best performance out of the camera as possible. If you're curious about other things to consider when buying goggles, we have a video going over that exact topic :)

      Also is there a way to use a VR oculus headset instead of buying goggles?

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  6 місяців тому

      I would guess yes, it is physically possible to make it work, but the VR oculus goggles aren't made for super low latency camera signal reading. I think you would be better off getting a nice pair of goggles that fit your flying needs. I found a reddit post that also goes over this same idea, so feel free to check it out!

    Would you recommend the umx turbo timber evolution as a first rc plane ? I just bought an nx8 really like the scale of the smaller umx series

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! Yes absolutely we would! The Evo has a lot of beginner-friendly components, such as SAFE and AS3X, which help stabilize and keep you up in the air. It also has some huge landing gears, so if you aren’t super comfortable with landing, it is a little more forgiving. You can also crank down the rates from your transmitter, which will make make the plane less jittery in the air. We love this aircraft and it is also really durable for all of us first time flyers. Hope this helps!

      Awesome thanks for replying 👍 just went down to the local hobby shop and grabbed one ! Any more start up tips for a beginner 😂 I got the salesman almost telling me off today because I was a newbie 😂

      Awesome congrats on the purchase!!! Make sure you have SAFE enabled, as well as a lot of wide open space to get used to the plane. Are you flying line-of-sight or fpv?

      @InvertedAviatorsRC thanks mate 👌 im so excited grabbed a couple 3s 450mh packs as well but i have a heap of 2s packs from my crawlers .. ill be flying line of sight to start off with at least until I get comfortable with the controls on the nx8 .

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  10 місяців тому +1

      Sounds like a plan! The 3S batteries will give you quite a bit of punch, so that’s something to look forward to 😉 personally, we think fpv is easier for newbies because you always know which direction you’re facing. The only downside is that you have to then make an investment into goggles and a cam.

    This video got you on the FAA watch list. Congrats! Learn the rules. Or pay a hefty fine!

    • @InvertedAviatorsRC
      @InvertedAviatorsRC  6 місяців тому +1

      Interesting! Our plane setup weighs less than the 250g limit (153g with 3S battery + 5g camera). And our chase quad is under the limit (on the website it says "Compact and lightweight design, weighing less than 250g even with the battery"). We also fly at a wide open field that is three soccer fields wide and we stay under the 400 foot ceiling.
      What would the hefty fine be for? And since this is a review, how do you like the Evo? We love it because of its ultra micro size and its super fun flying characteristics?

    LMAO ! a 10 speed bike to a Harley ? He must not know Harley. You can probably out run a Harley on a single speed mountain bike.

      Haha I thought the comparison was funny too! But either way we love the Evo and it might outrun a Harley too 🤣
