My parents said the whole house was shaken' while the 3-year-old me was listening to this from my crib and every time they would come up to check on me, I would crash down to pretend to be sleeping, LOL. I didn't know it then, but Roy Clark was one of my childhood heroes. Ken Curtis, AKA Fetus, was my other hero! I met both of them and many more country legends at our local county fair over the years! Thanks for the memories!
I love your reaction the whole video of just “what the-“ I love Roy Clark!
Roy Clark was one of the greatest guitar player ever.
Old Person here.
You wanted to know how we reacted back then.
We loved him.
We also watched many, many, many LIVE performances on TV. There were numerous variety shows that allowed performers to really show what they could do.
Another reactor asked the same question about Focus's song Hocus Pocus and the answer is the same for both, this was our normal.
This is a small sample of why this man is in the top 3 GOAT
One of my favorites from Roy is yesterday when I was young
Roy was a great guitarist and comic who appeared on frequently on Hee Haw. Glenn Campbell was also a super guitarist. He and Roy Clark played together on occasion.
He and Johnny Cash played this song together later and clearly had a ball with it.
Roy was always a pure entertainer but beyond his comedy, he was just one of the best guitar players.
He is a true Master of the strings
Roy Clark is something else. Very Talented man!
Roy Clark was on the television show he Hall for years… Very funny comedian an excellent musician! Be sure to listen to him playing the fiddle the banjo and the mandolin too!! He plays malaguena on the guitar
That’s the television show Hee Haw
Somewhere on UA-cam there's he does a live performance of this song with Johnny Cash.
He is an absolute genius on the strings…. Wish he was still around today ..
and intentionally sings, "they're probably smoking whiskey, and drinking big cigars." LOL. No one could combine off the charts guitar talent with comedy the way Roy could.
Roy Clark was one of the most awesome guitar experts in country music history (actually, ANY music history)! Also one of the most hilarious country comedians as well! He and fellow country singer/instrumentalist Buck Owens co-hosted the long-running, wildly successful country comedy variety show "Hee-Haw" (1969-1992). You should check out some of the songs and funny clips from those episodes! "Hee-Haw" was the "launching pad" which gave several renowned country music artists their start into show business.
I like Watching your videos.
Tysm!!! 😁
I now know I am very old.
I did not know it was possible to be a serious guitarist of ANY style and not know about Roy.
Not a dis at all. I loved watching you discover him.
We were equally blown away in the sixties.
