Bruce, the mascot of undying hope, the prophet of resilience, and the poet of all that's worth celebrating in life. He has shared so much love, and saved so many lives that he knows not! And what a song -- a pure love bullet.
I fear not enough people know of and fully appreciate this amazing song of Bruce’s and how autobiographical it was, how much it captured what was happening in his life at that time, ……but then, like all great songs, how completely universal it is…..🙏🎶🎭
The double album it came out as a part of was a bit much but this tune and probably five others across both albums were absolute winners; great lyrics, catchy melody and just solid rock from the boss. Too bad (imo) he lost his edge and got old, flat and boring but that's kinda happened to rock and roll across the board so it is what it is...but agreed on this tune it was a winner that fell through the cracks...
@@trailerparkretirement Yeah I agree, brilliant song that was drowned out by the heap of other songs that came along with it. While I wasn’t around when the album was released, my dad recalls that a lot of Springsteen fans weren’t happy with the fact that the rest of the E street band didn’t feature in the album or tours for these albums. Might be another big reason why people didn’t give it the recognition it deserves.
What a great track. I always thought Bruce never got the credit he deserved for being a brilliant guitarist as well as the world's greatest ever singer/songwriter/performer, and here's the proof right there.
As you know Lucky Town and Human Touch Albums were released on the same day. 24 Tracks between the two, i think if the best 12 songs of the two Albums had been released as just one album, it would have been HUGE. it was nearly like a Double Album, and Double Albums dont always work. it should be Quality over Quantity.
Why on Earth everyone said these two records were some of his worse... I will never know hahaha! I have never been able to get enough of this record especially, brilliant storytelling and lyrical content and he plays guitar like the best of them when he wants to. Absolutely love this concert, it sounds amazing recorded, but imagine if you could be there I bet was incredible! Superb sound mixing and balancing as well, big props to the sound techs! And why the HELL everyone called these guys he played with... How... Tight as f*** on every song and they can all sing as well hahaha! Growing Up and Wish I Were Blind will always be another two favourites from this gig as well this! If anyone knows who these guys are... I'll play with them every single day of the week hahaha!! :)
They were the best records ever he made (except Born to run). And the band was the best one he ever had - forget Steve van Zandt and silly Nils Lofgren.
So underrated as a guitar player, it blows me away. I know this sounds stupid but it's time bruce get the credit he's do. One thing that has never changed with Bruce and his band; the responses from other musicians when asked their thought about both Bruce and the band.
@@rickygoodman1294 Duh, but it's not the lead, or the solo. Regardless, it's not a significant enough part of the song for OP to be saying Bruce is underrated as a guitarist..

I loved this album when it came out along with the other one that came out with it. It signaled Bruce was returning back to his rock roots and away from the pop songs of the 80's. This is one of his best live shows if you ask me.
Probably Bruce's most underrated song; I'm guessing because it was done without the E-Streeters. This is a Bruce classic. Guitars ripping and roaring, and fantastic lyrics. This band was tight...
This song was my introduction to Springsteen, and my 4 year old son just said in the car yesterday after hearing it for the first time that he "loves when I play Lucky City" lol Not sure where he got "city" but whatever...he's 4 haha
To me they sound brighter and harder than E-Street, more energetic, where E-Street sound more dark and film-like. As said, these guys sound tighter, especially the drums, I always felt that Max kind of doesn't hit them hard enough and drags time, not that he's not competent, just his style.
I really did like their sound overall on those two albums, and live for the most part; there's something to be said about a stripped-down band !! Aside from "the Professor", Shayne and Crystal were the standouts...unfortunately though, the bassist was average at best, and that weird-looking drummer could barely hold it together. I'm surprised Bruce would settle for a somewhat plebian rhythm section, as he's such a perfectionist. Ah well...there's only one E-Street Band !!
I know exactly what you mean, and agree. He could play the outro on Racing in the Street for 12-15 minutes, instead of 5 or 6, and I'd probably be lulled into such deep euphoria I might have trouble coming back. I'll play this version from 5:00, to the end, over and over and over. And over. ua-cam.com/video/fT4pSt4kie8/v-deo.html If there's music in heaven, this is it.

The lead guitar for Bruce Springsteen for this show & others was an English guitar player Michael Barakan A.K.A by his stage name of Shayne Fontaine.

Greatest singer songwriter to ever walk the Earth .
I dare.....one of The best five songs of The Boss
Epic Bruce solo, equal parts passionate, awkward, and virtuoso. This is a mainly singer-songwriter shredding it and blowing it up!
Bruce is such a magnificent performer 👊, can't stop watching this...
Love watching Bruce perform this song with this band. ❤️ Always
I had the album on c-cassette as a kid, and remember listening to this song over and over again. Still love it, one of my favorite songs of all time.
Best ever guitar slo E V E R ! I could watch this video of Lucky town for hours on end! That Bruce
