44 years ago the mantel of the future of rock and roll was hung unceremoniously on Springsteen. It created quite the controversy at the time. With some saying it would destroy his career. All these decades later Bruce has shown that he wasn't just a fluke, or just another one hit wonder he lived up to and even surpassed the title of the future of rock and roll 44+ years later those old albums still resonate and the new stuff will lead us easily into the future
As far as I know, STILL the only performer that regularly gives 3-4 hour concerts...despite being in his 70's! Yeah, fuckin' right he lives up to the hype!
Fun fact - "Well they blew up the Chicken Man in Philly last night." - Is a reference to the death of mobster Philip Testa, who was portrayed in the Irishman.
That cuts a little close to the bone. I think it was a guy working for Testa who robbed my old man's employer back in the 70s (in Jersey). It was as bad as you'd think.

Teodoro Medeiros played a little faster, Bruce more animated, better guitar work’ Bittan better on piano Best version, never thought I’d sat this esp ending guitar work
This could possibly be the best live recording of this song
Probably no, of course the BEST!! In mi opinion
Agree. Had it on VHS and watched a bunch in the 90's. Then UA-cam!!!! Love it man.
❤❤❤
In my opinion it is the best version overall. There's something about the pace and atmosphere. Takes me to empty wide roads.
Not even close
This version hurts me.
Because I love EStreetband, especially Max, but this version sounds perfect.
I love it.
How did I miss this version. Surely one of the best performances of this magnificent song. That touches the heart and explodes the head!
It was with the other band in 1992
You get get in DVD
More famous than Levon Helm's original! Made me a fan of Springsteen.
That Bruce does it every time.

When the snare hits after the intro, perfection
I love the E street but this whole set is phenomenal
I love E Street but they've never been able to have the same intensity and energy that this song needs and this band provides the song.
This isn't the E Street Band that's playing here
@@robertbrooks7805 That's what I said.
@@Jimmie_Rudolfsson I've been trying like hell to find the lineup in this version..absolutely off the charts..any idea?
@mickkollins just look up the Wikipedia page for the In Concert/Plugged album. There's a section for the whole band.

MTV did amazing stuff at one time -
This is one hell of a song by one hell of an artist.
My favorite version of this song. Funky!
Me too
Apparently this wasn’t well received when it came out. I love this band and version. The bass player and drummer slap 🤘🤘
I can see why. When I first heard this song I didn’t like it. But after listening to Nebraska recently I realized it was one of his best songs
Because it was depressing af.. actually, the entire Nebraska album was depressing af lol
These bass slaps are on the f- point. Fantastic version.
100% agree - the bass player and drummer are both great
Been listening to this version since I was a little kid. 30 now. Best version for sure.👍
Aside from every version form Levon and The Band
Me too. I'm 33 now, my dog is called Rosalita after the song ❤️
My dude, each to their own, but may I commend to your attention the version from live in NYC from 1999, it's here on UA-cam.
And all the E-Street band version too! @@cvandy2252

Wasn't expecting that! This is simply brilliant!
Favourite version right here!
Very good song. I think Levon and “The Band” do it pretty well, but agree this is a great version as well!
Even though this was recorded with the "other band", I still love this version.
Me too
The day I got this album I played the hell out of this one track. My favourite version of Atlantic City, ever.
