  • In this video, we tackle the challenging issue many face while attempting Parivrtta Parsvakonasana or Revolved Side Angle pose. Beatriz, a dedicated yoga practitioner, raises her concerns about feeling unstable during this particular yoga pose and seeks a solution.
Our exploration begins by examining the common causes of instability, from body alignment to hip placement. The primary reason could be as simple as having your hips too high, your front knee not bent enough, or your back foot across the center line of the posture. For a comprehensive understanding, refer to our book, 'Functional Anatomy of Yoga', which breaks down these complex postures in an easy-to-understand format.
To establish a stable Revolved Side Angle pose, we must start at the foundation: foot placement. If you are feeling unstable, you might be twisting from Parsvakonasana to place the hand on the floor, causing your hips to rise. Also, consider the angle of your back foot. It should not cross the center line.
In this video, we recommend a few alterations, like lining up the inner heel of both feet, bending the front knee more for energy to sink downwards, and potentially grounding the knee for added support. Try these modifications next time, and let us know if you feel more stable in your Revolved Side Angle pose! Don't forget to leave a comment or drop us an email with your feedback.
