I have this Honda GCV160 mower and it’s one of the best mowers I’ve ever used. I got mine used in brand new condition and the gas tank capacity is really nice. This was also my first ever Honda push mower. Like your videos.
Well if the mower did not start for them or was hard to start that was a perfect excuse to go electric or lawn care. Who really knows the reason but just be happy you got the old Honda. Great quick repairs on a good looking mower. New owner should be very happy. Thanks for the videos.

I don't get free mowers very often, but if they run, I change the oil, sharpen the blade and clean out the underside. I also install a new Autolite plug, a new air filter and then clean it up the best it can be. I have given mowers to veterans, senior citizens and single mothers who I know are having a hard time getting by. Karma can be good.
Hey bro what's up? My guess is probably the same as you. The previous owners probably switched over to battery powered equipment. As for me I'm not comfortable at present to make that switch. Batteries are expensive versus gasoline which is not that bad at the moment here.
We all know that batteries don’t not biodegrade and fossil fuels are a much better way in my opinion. The carbon footprint from electrical equipment is massive in comparison.
Home garage I got two trash picked lawn mowers last week one is a Chinese yardman and the other is a front wheel drive self propelled craftsman which I plan on keeping to mow lawns with my exmark metro 26 has broken off bolts on transmission bracket and Will be done next year then you will see working at 100 💯 percent full capacity.
My dads neighbours used to give my dad free mowers,etc until he retired then he kept them for longer then traded them in for a new lawnmower. I did pick up a Honda GX25 line trimmer he threw out because the trimmer head was broken & he went electric with that !

8:05 I know you’ve taking this apart before, but I just want to mention that it won’t make a difference spraying lube there on the axle because there is a dust seal that’s supposed to keep grease on the inside of the bushing. The only lube that gets in there is some of the lube that you spray on to the drive gear that seeps past the washer.
I lay the mower carb up when assembling the carb and gaskets. Also you can test for run issues by taking the spacers out of the air filter housing and bolt the carb on the engine for fine tuning. Then air box can be re installed
lol good for them indeed for going electric. I literally just had this happen last week. Dad went electric and just up and gave me his basically new Yamaha MA190 gas pressure washer. Needed a carb sure but dude free gas pressure washer.
Saw that there is no tread on the wheels . Honda replacement wheels are expensive. An alternative is to re-tread. If you have a bike shop near you, see if it will save some mountain bike sidewall blow-outs for you (or raid it's dumpster like I did 😄). You can then cut the sidewalls back & apply the treads over the remaining bald rubber. Fasten them to the hub with 6x1" sheet metal screws & Goop (E6000) glue. Took me about 25 minutes per rear wheel on a RWD mower back in 2017 & still holding strong today. No need IMO to re-tread the fronts on a RWD.

When checking the oil on your lawnmower,you were correct on every engine I know of,except HONDA..On Them the instructions tell you to screw it all the way in,then check the level..Correct me , if I'm wrong

At 5:35....I have A Honda mower that is about 3 years old and looks just like this one, as far as the front wheel I was having the same problem with spinning. I dismounted the wheel but the set up is different so I was not able to take the bolt of the wheel off simply because it's fixed to the wheel and you simply screw back on the high adjuster. I'll dismount the wheel again next week ( I'm busy with work) and let's you know with another comment if I'm wrong about the setup and hopefully you'll answer me, thanks.
I am currently fixing a craftsman weed wacker and have adjusted the carp for a perfect idle but no matter how i adjust it, it stutters and backfires out the card. Please help me
I have a question about the carb on this exact engine. I replaced the carb and made sure to reassemble the gaskets exactly how it came apart. Once started up the engine now surges. What could be the reason?
I think you already drained this mower because of the gas line clamp on the tank side of the fuel shut off being moved away from the valve. That's a nice mower, no doubt but I'm not a fan of the Honda in/out drive gear setup. The Snapper belt is smoother and the different speeds on the old one is very simple but the Hondas are a smooth running rig in their own right. I took care of one of my Uncles Hondas and did a lot of maintenance to it like you do. It was a nice one and I mowed his grass too so I could tell the differences in the before and after deals. @@HomeGaragechannel My neighbor has one of the newer ones and has had a lot of trouble out of it but I think he finally got it straightened out. The old ones are best. I had an ancient one with a 3 1/2 horse Briggs with a REVERSE on the shifter. That was years ago too. I got a short block for it because of the wear.
@@HomeGaragechannel It didn't have the loose belt drive clutch, just notches for the driven disc and reverse was moving the driven disc to the opposite side of the metal drive disc but was spring loaded so it'd pop back to neutral.

Hello I would replace the filter at least with a cheap adrermarket and sell it to your friend, or at least suggest to him to change it, depending on the price you sell it to him for. Yes you didn’t need to need to remove the carburettor. A trick with the carburettor removal is to get a long thread x2 the same size and cut a slit into one side (to accomodate a screw driver) so your can undo one bolt and replace it to hold carburettor in place then do the Same with the other, then removal of carburettor is easy and put back together easy, then replace your threaded bolts with original bolts one by one.
quick tip if you are not in a hurry you can use a small amount of silicone adhesive to attach the gaskets to the positions they belong they won't fall out when reassembling just don't block any passages that may be on the carburetor with the silicone
I’ve re built the engine in my stihl br430 and now it won’t start? It makes a massive bang when pull the cord, sounds like the timings out. It use to run but not rev up now it won’t even start.
the only way it would be out of time, Is if the flywheel was installed without a key. Have you don't a compression test to make sure the rings were installed, the way they should be?
So I got that Husqvarna fixed up now but it’s got a running issue. I took the car apart cleaned it barely had any dirt oddly put it back together and it won’t start now without gas but once you get it started it’ll run all day fine it’s just the initial go Choke seems to be working fine as far as I can tell

Psssst.....if you want gaskets to stick, you can brush all interfaces with super glue and press the gaskets on there. Let them cure. They will stay still long enough for installation.
Use Aspen4 for the fourstroke engine and Aspen2 for the twostroke engine and you dont have to empty the gasolinetank or clear the carburator from old regular gasoline during the winter. Aspen gasoline are dont mixed with etanol or other ingrediences, only pure manufactured gasoline
How come you don’t use grease when lubing up the front wheels. I understand using a thin spray lubricant on the height adjustments, but grease will last much longer and not be as messy
not sure what exactly you're talking about, but I use Lithium "Grease" for the wheel bolts and WD40 for the height adjusters. if you're talking about A multipurpose great for the wheels, I've already said it before, it's my choice.

Marine grease works good too if your equipment gets rained on frequently. I find that using a wheel bearing/chassis lube like Lucas red n tacky lasts much longer than those spray lubricants. Just curious on your reasoning for using the spray lube
6:01 I wonder what would happen if you cleaned up that wheel bolt with Brakleen and lubed it with "Sil-Glyde" car slide pin lube think I might have smeared them with Mobil or Valvoline synthetic grease gun grease
hey so we had a problem with someone putting the wrong gas in the mower they put 2 stroke gas mix how can i fix that this is my first time encounter this issue. idk how to deal with this because iv dumped the fuel tank and flush it clean with fresh gas. but the mower still sounds like it is bogging down and is at now speed. do you know anything else i can do to it?
to be honest, putting 2 stroke mixed fuel into a mower shouldn't not do any harm to it, other than it smoking out of the tailpipe. It would seem there's more to your problem than just a little oil, in your gasoline. I would replace the spark plug and as a test, try starting the engine with ought the air filter. otherwise you may have an internal block in your carb.
I think they either got a new one or don't need one due to either living somewhere that does yard maintenance for there renters / home owners or hired a lawn service , even if I went electric lawn mower I'd keep the gas one as back up if something goes wrong with an electric one not many people know how to fix them or something could make it non repairable and then your out of a lawn mower, my dad got a sun Joe electric lawn mower small but powerful but it had loose connections to the motor so I had to make repairs to wiring and now it works and at first I didn't know what was wrong with it because some times it worked and other times it just stopped then it made a clicking sound and wouldn't work at all well cheap wires coming out of the motor broke inside their protective covers and where barely making connection but it's fixed and has worked for many years now with the repairs done, anyway my point is gas lawn mowers are easier to repair then electric in my opinion cause electric have circuits and control boards that could go bad and I myself can't fix a control board especially one with micro soldering on it and surface mount chips ... anyways great video as always 👍
I hate to question u, but are u POSITIVE, the wavy washer is suppose to be inside the wheel and not outside like it it was? I feel like u say this about every Honda wheel u take off, but even my new HRX217 has the wavy washers on the outside of the wheel

Overcomplicating this in the beginning check the oil check if it has gas in it check the air filter put gas in it if it runs it runs if it doesn't well then we'll move on to the fixing part

unfortunately there's a sticker on the mower that shows you how to do it.
Also it's written in the owners manual too.

What is the purpose of the 2nd blade? Is it for balance, mulching, both, or something else?
the second blade is to help mulch the clipping and it does a great job too.

lift mower, remove blade, use a vise and an angle grinder, also be safe when working on mowers.

I would replace the fuel line, and also the fuel cap then.

Oh, you make a good point, I Make sure the fuel jet is clear by using a wire.

it would appear the engine is damaged. I would recommend that you either get it looked at, either at a shop or by someone who is very knowledgeable.

thanks for the clarification, the Marine grease, is actually a good idea. I use the spray grease because it's easy.

hey so we had a problem with someone putting the wrong gas in the mower they put 2 stroke gas mix how can i fix that this is my first time encounter this issue. idk how to deal with this because iv dumped the fuel tank and flush it clean with fresh gas. but the mower still sounds like it is bogging down and is at now speed. do you know anything else i can do to it?
to be honest, putting 2 stroke mixed fuel into a mower shouldn't not do any harm to it, other than it smoking out of the tailpipe. It would seem there's more to your problem than just a little oil, in your gasoline. I would replace the spark plug and as a test, try starting the engine with ought the air filter. otherwise you may have an internal block in your carb.
If it's 1 to 50 mix and Echo or Stihl oil it shouldn't affect it much to run a tank through it accidentally

What lube would you recommend?
I would use WD40 for cables and Lithium for metal on metal stuff. I would only use multipurpose grease, for places that might not get any dirt.
I think they either got a new one or don't need one due to either living somewhere that does yard maintenance for there renters / home owners or hired a lawn service , even if I went electric lawn mower I'd keep the gas one as back up if something goes wrong with an electric one not many people know how to fix them or something could make it non repairable and then your out of a lawn mower, my dad got a sun Joe electric lawn mower small but powerful but it had loose connections to the motor so I had to make repairs to wiring and now it works and at first I didn't know what was wrong with it because some times it worked and other times it just stopped then it made a clicking sound and wouldn't work at all well cheap wires coming out of the motor broke inside their protective covers and where barely making connection but it's fixed and has worked for many years now with the repairs done, anyway my point is gas lawn mowers are easier to repair then electric in my opinion cause electric have circuits and control boards that could go bad and I myself can't fix a control board especially one with micro soldering on it and surface mount chips ... anyways great video as always 👍

I've recieved 6 or 7 honda mowers over the last 3 months or so, each and every one of them has had bald wheels.
it seems to be an issue.
turning fuel flow off .....mine take like 4 to 5 min to run out ....long time in the sun waiting for empty
that's plenty of time to do some more cutting.
Probably the lifestyle i reckon unless they don't like the SP (Self-propelled) option.

I hate to question u, but are u POSITIVE, the wavy washer is suppose to be inside the wheel and not outside like it it was? I feel like u say this about every Honda wheel u take off, but even my new HRX217 has the wavy washers on the outside of the wheel

I do believe this is the video that I "expressed, that I wouldn't guess as to why they washer was installed on the wrong, side" and the reason is "ease", it's a 1/10 to install the washer on the outside, but when installing it on the inside, like the diagrams show, its about 4 times more difficult to do, and you need to be super careful.

For me, I check the oil, then start it up to see what works and what doesn't. Then fix the issues that arise.

Overcomplicating this in the beginning check the oil check if it has gas in it check the air filter put gas in it if it runs it runs if it doesn't well then we'll move on to the fixing part
