    I just took my daughter out of public school and put her in a Montessori school. She loves it, says they don't make her "work" all day. What I love about this school is when I ask my daughter what she learned or did, she says she played. Learning should always be fun, I'm happy that she's in the direction of having a love for learning again!

    • @diditonev
      @diditonev  5 років тому +1

      Oh, it makes me so happy to hear that! I hope that she is still enjoying it as much as she did in the beginning. How old is she? I assume she is in a mixed age group too?
      The Montessori education is great at working with the interest and passion of the individual child, instead of applying the same requirements for learning to everyone in the class. Good luck and thank you for sharing. (sorry for taking me so long to respond).

    Very informative and interesting video 😊 Im a preschool teacher and have applied for a teacher job at a Montessori preschool. All of the key fundamentals of the Montessori method are the same as what I my self want to pass on to children 🙂 I really hope Ill get the job, and Im thrilled to get a certified Montessori education later on.

      Joe, I wish you good luck with the job! And yes, this is why I turned to Montessori as well, as the fundamentals were what I wanted to install in my child as well and as a parent, I related a lot to her work.

    Hello, I am not a parent yet, but in the back of my head I know there had to be a better way to connect and motivate children...I had heard about a 'Montessori' something, but this video was so helpful clarifying what it is. Now I know is a method and wow many of the points resonate with me.. thanks for the details. I will look more into this. Great video! And by the way, it was a beautiful and clear explanation. :)

    Love your channel. Love all your topics. What do you think of Waldorf Steiner education?

    • @diditonev
      @diditonev  5 років тому +1

      I love Steiner too! I feel that, as with everything else, it all depends on the child's personality. There are children who will thrive in Steiner and some, who would benefit more from Montessori or other approach. I know people who have been through traditional education and Steiner (switching one with another) who say they felt better under the traditional approach. Also, it depends where in the world. Steiner (Waldorf in the US) is much more popular in the US than in the UK and here, in the UK, we do not have much choice if we want to go to Steiner.

      I love Waldorf (they call it Steiner here), but we don't have many options, certainly not where we live. We need to decide whether we should move so that we are closer to one. I'm exploring options now, as Mika will need to start somewhere school soon and I still don't have idea where. We don't have enough Montessori junior schools either. Sometimes I wish we were in the US or Scandinavia...

    - how do you deal with a child who doesn't want to engage with any activity or clean up?

      Hi Mary, thank you for watching. From the Montessori books, I recommend her book the "Absorbent Mind'. Also The Conscious Parent by Dr. Shefali Tzabary, as the principles are very similar. Respect for the child, follow the child's pace, let them be, be a guide, create a favourable environment, observe more what your baby is communicating to you and follow. Provide a lot of freedom within boundaries.

    Hi Didi, I'm new to your channel. I love Montessori as well, my son goes to a Montessori based nursery in London. He will start reception this September and I'm not looking forward to changing him to a normal school. We were looking at Steiner too. Which philosophy do you think is best?

    • @diditonev
      @diditonev  7 років тому +1

      Hi Jessica, I love Montessori, but am going to look into more details on Steiner too, as I may consider it as an option for Mika. I'm just not that fond of traditional educational system here and mostly by the early start. Mika was born at the end of August, which means he is supposed to start reception this year at 4years and 5days old - not keen on sending him that early. I'm planning to visit Steiner and will let you know if you want, how I feel about it.

      @diditonev  6 років тому +1

      Hi Safa, yes, it is, it is part of the public system in some European countries (Scandinavia and the Netherlands that I know of, but surely in some more). Here in the UK, unfortunately, there are only few schools (private) and they are only up to 11years. In the US, I would think is more common. The classes are mixed age (vertical grouping), e.g. 6-9 years together. 9-12 years old together. The children learn at their own pace, the teacher is there to support their natural interest. The environment is favourable. It is a very beautiful system. There is no assessment, no pressure, no scolding, no punishment, no competition.

      Hey, i live in the netherlands and here are actually a lot of high schools wich apply montessory system, my primary school applied montessory system, but my middle school doesn't, well i know that in high and middle schools they for example use planners for the homework, so they have an amount of time to do all the homework on the planner, and I believe a lot of Montessori middle and high schools here have hours that you can choose wich subject you want to study, like you can choose if you wat to do maths, science, art or english. Actually we also have the dalton system that looks a lot like Montessori sistem in middle and high schools.
