You are quick and to the point with your pages. Brilliant. Ooh I love your busy calendar pages and the system you got going, makes me happy just looking at it. Totally understand what you were saying about getting tired of looking at the same color week after week. That's why I can't with pre-colored weekly pages. TFS!
appreciated seeing this video and seeing a normal, working person's planner. most of the videos i've seen have planners with perfect script, perfectly seperated sections, perfect decorations...yeah, i barely keep my purse organized let alone a planner. it was nice to see regular scribbles and marks and see a regular, not so OCD system in play. and i love the quote in your organizer as well (do epic s***--awesome).
tenapage I'm so glad you liked the video! I learned a long time ago that I can't be overly-precious and neat in my planner... I have neither the time nor the patience for that! :)
I am so happy to hear that it helped. I will be doing more in the coming weeks... including my "Mobile Office" and how I've been implementing TWO planners into my routine, something I NEVER thought I would do.
I'm so glad you found the pages at Philofaxy! If you ever want to touch base on how you're using them, let me know! I always like to see how other people are using things... that's where the best ideas come from.
It's a Day Timer Soft Flex. They make the same one in leather but they call that one a Malibu. I found mine locally at Office Depot, but they can be found online at the Day Timer website (just search their site for "Soft Flex". I'll add the link to my video description as well as I can't add links in comments (just learned that!).
I have been watching planner videos for sometime now and I have been trying to find some ways to (1) get motivated and (2) find a calendar system that works. I am getting ready to start my Masters degree in education and I need to get myself motivated. Your video has helped me to get my planner organize and ready for school. Thank you.
@Mark Richman... I don't have the option to reply directly to your comment! Ack! I hope you see this... I honestly don't think one way of planning is any better than another. The ways we all plan and stay organized are unique to each individual person -- one of the few things in life for which there is no Right or Wrong way. If you take a peek at my more recent videos, you'll see I've drastically changed the way I plan during the last year. If I had to manage more than 2000 contacts, I would absolutely do that on my iPad and laptop. If I desperately wanted all of that on paper, then I would do exactly as you said... I would print them, punch them, and put them in my binder that way. Are you managing that many contacts? I'm curious to know how you do it... my brain would explode! Some people can plan everything digitally and be perfectly happy with it (my husband is one of those people); I tried for a year, and it just didn't work for me. I've used a paper planner since I was a teenager, so I figured I should stick to what works for my goofy brain!
I have a page at the end of every month where I list my accomplishments for the month. I got the idea from the law of attraction planner which has a two page spread for month in review. The first section is "celebrate my top 10 achievements." Then underneath that it says "close your eyes, visualize and be grateful for each of your achievements."
This is a great set up. I have 4 kids 3 boys and 1 princess. I HAVE to use a paper planner. I have implemented some of your ideas into my planner. Thank u so much for sharing!!!
@Oh Cecilia, that's the best thing you can do... just start using it and tweak things to your liking. Heck, my last several week's worth of inserts are just hand-drawn on old journal paper. And I'm still adjusting things. I *might* have found what's darn close to Planner Nerdvana for me as far as a weekly set-up is concerned. I'm going to test-run it for a week or two. Whether it works for me or not, I'll definitely do a video about it.
I am currently planning a video on how to set up a planner. The planning phase of this video is taking a bit longer than I expected simply because there are a million ways you can set up a planner and there is no right or wrong way to do it! :) I think one of the most important things about setting up a planner is to just do it and start using it. That's why using a binder with rings is so important -- you can add or remove things whenever you feel the need.
This is functional art... and I love how you explained everything clearly while still keeping to the point. I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing ^^
@Dinafair Thank you so much! I'm happy that you all seem to like my voice -- to be honest, every time I hear someone in the house playing any of my videos I beg them to turn it off so I don't have to hear my own voice! Thank you so much for watching!
I just found your UA-cam and can I just say I had the worst day today and you just brightened it up, what a great video! Also some wonderful ideas for my planner. I feel kind of MULTIPLE personality right now, have an A5, but loving the large size Arc and am working with them both. ahhh love ideas. :) Thank you
I love your yearly goal planning process. I printed off the forms. I want to better utilize my time this might work. I'm not clear on my goals and I love this layout. You are so smart yo think of this.:))
@Kim Reason, I do find Evernote extremely easy to use. I've used it for over five years now. It's free, it's easy, and it's always been dependable (no, I'm not getting anything from Evernote for saying these things). I'm going to do a video about how I integrate apps like Evernote & Omnifocus into my planning & archiving.
I actually have 2 of these planners! Love them! Love the pop-out list idea! It's great seeing how you have been trying out different layouts. I current use Amy Knapp inserts (the kids are grown) in mine. Really enjoy your videos!! Keep up the good work! Also enjoy your blog.
That's a great idea! I will definitely do a video of what I use to decorate and organize my planners. (There's nothing crazy-exciting, but I recently started using double-sided tape and origami paper to decorate, which is absolutely lovely!)
I'm actually using journal paper from an old journal I had here in combination with some forms I simply printed out on regular, old printer paper. I use Pilot Frixion pens and Pilot Precise V5. (I did just order a few Hi-Tec-C Coleto pens to try as well). I'm sorry I couldn't be more help!
Great video! I love your setup and seeing it in action. It inspires me to just get started using mine. I have a A5 Filofax and I struggle because I don't like some of the inserts. I need to test run different new like you. Looking forward to seeing any updates! :)
SCRAP booking with a franklin planner makes sense. THE SUNDAY review puts in perspective the reason for the season. A planner valued around the initiatives designed to upgrade lifestyles and values.
What are the little triangles/arrows on left side? I will look to see if you have a detailed overview of your planner :) I have a new Day timer like this, although mine doesn't have all the awesome pockets :/ WHat is this style called, I have the new pink one
The triangles were just decoration -- some page borders I added for a little color and to help distinguish between the different monthly pages. This cover is a DayTimer Malibu, but this one wasn't leather. They do make one with the exact same pocket layout on the inside, just in leather instead. I reviewed that one here: ua-cam.com/video/4VhN1Vh7pdA/v-deo.html
You're so helpful :) I just got a new leather pink, special edition day timer and just got another one delivered yesterday by Frankln Covey, with awesome pockets, I love them both!
Just found your channel. I am obsessed with planners but at the same time struggle. I use a junior size Arc as a planner. I feel like I live in chaos and I only have one daughter, a husband, and two dogs. My daughter is 19 years old and is chronically ill so I am her power of attorney now that she's an adult and handle all of the appointments, medications, record keeping and help her with daily activities if needed. I do use iCal as my monthly calendar because I find that a month on two pages in a planner just isn't big enough and I only use this for appointments. I use a day on a page that I make and decorate but I would really like to do a week on two pages but it just doesn't seem to work for me. I liked your weekly set up video and may go back and watch that again and try the weekly again. I would like to get better at projects and things I want to do for me. I do not work outside of the house because of my daughter's illness but I do run a support group for her illness and I am heavily involved in the association that deals with her illness. I also am trying to get a natural medicine degree (which lucky for me is self-paced because so much this gets put on the back burner). I really enjoy your video's.
Jane, you are obviously a *very* busy woman with a very good heart. I hope you can find some things that help keep you organized so you don't feel too overwhelmed.
Honesty, I just use a single hole punch and punch each hole individually after lining the edge up to a paper from the planner that's already punched. Rapesco makes all kinds of different punches, but I haven't gotten one yet.
I like that brownish red binder. I tried to find it on their homepage. Unfortunately it's long gone, the only "soft flex" they've got now is a black one, which, I think is sooo boring.
I did try them for a week or so, but, unfortunately, I had already used this Week on 2 Pages layout and had become rather attached to being able to see my whole week in front of me. (Read: I'm just too picky. Period.) Thanks for the suggestion, though!
@WhirlyBlossom, You beat me by one!! :) I really would like to color code for each kid (like I have it set up in my WeekCal HD app on my iPhone), but all of those colors are relegated to other things in my planner... there aren't enough colors for all of the boys AND all of my other things, too. LOTS of blue!
did you use a specific hole puncher to punch out the hole or was it a single hole punch. Very nice video.....makes me realize I don't NEED a filofax..... but I do want one LOL
Thank you for sharing Carie! I only have one child and a husband(second child), what are your rules for others perusing or touching your planner? My husband seems to think that since I keep track of everybody it is a household planner, but it is also personal to me. I don't want to have two planners...too redundant. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Sorry for taking the opportunity to answer a question not for me, but; I just found it SO cute that your husband think of your planner as his too/the household. I know it must be violating your privacy and make it more intimidating to write really personal things but I just couldn't help thinking that its just so cute that your husband turn to your planner to keep track of daily life. Since you probably haven't eaten him alive for it, I can share that my parents do the same thing. But reversed. My mom is afraid of computers and internet and all onlinesocial "sharing". But she's a housewife and my dad works. So she have felt quite isolated and left out and therefore asked my dad to be logged on his mail, and read what's going on with invitations, news, mails from family abroad. And she didn't understood that the mail was not like postal mail and had private conversations with his friends too. My dad however didn't care about letting her in as he is not as vulnerable or sensitive as us women. So she sat an entire day reading all his mails and she got her own file in his mail so he could throw all mail directed for her, into that so she could "get her post" too. But she doesn't want her own mail and still just like to read his mail :-D I think she just like the fact that he "invites" her in and nothing surprises her or letting her be the last to know :-D
I completely understand this situation... it's partially what led to my Desk Size planner becoming the "Family" planner and the Personal size planner becoming "Mine." I keep everybody's schedules in the Family planner so they know who will be where when -- this is especially helpful during hockey season when it's nice for the kids to be able to see when Mike will be out-of-town for away games and for Mike to see what the kids have going on so he can make as many of those events as possible. As far as redundant... yes. It can be. I write everyone's schedules in the Family planner; I write only things at which I need to be physically present and my tasks in my Personal planner. (And, if you really want to know the dirty little secret of how redundant our planner routine is in our house... Mike uses his iPad as a planner, so I have to keep the iCal updated as well. Oy!)
Carie Harling Oh my! That is just a cute family-routine :-D I also use my personal planner a bit as a diary and it's hold (too)many personal info which making it hard for me to grab my planner when sitting in class or trying to arrange a backpacking trip with friends. I have to hide half the pages :-D But THAT sounds you have to be well-organized to keep track of all your organization :-D
I started keeping my Journal separately for the same reasons. I'm using a Midori Traveler's Notebook for that now. I carry the Midori & my Malden *everywhere* with me.
Carie Harling Nice! Sounds really well-organized. Especially for a wife and mother who probably have her hands full and lots of confusion and un-organization around her to threaten her focus :-). I came out of a 1,5 years depression 2 months ago by buying a planner and get all my stressing, anxious and unprepared-ness down on paper. Feels SO good. University even don't scare me anymore and I don't feel like those high demands and expectations overwhelm me as much. Only downsize is that I had to buy my Franklin Covey on Ebay from a US seller that agreed to send it across the Atlantic for me. But I still can't get any inserts and my printer can't be fitted and measure the sizes and layouts I would need for print-self inserts. So now I have a new little "irritation" :-D
I'm trying to convince myself that one of these things are useful and/or superior to a computer/ipad/iphone. How do any of these paper organizers perform when you have over 2,000 contacts? Do you manage them on the computer and then print them out and punch holes, etc.?
I would like to see a video on how to set up an organizer or a Filofax..I have a Franklin Covey organizer. I am trying to set it up in a way that will be easy to flip through to look up shopping lists, project and things to do. I also have the Franklin Covey program to print out what I need to put in my organizer...I want to also get a day planner but I don't know what is the best one to get. I need help with that. Can you help me out....Please message me on Facebook at Vanessa Bourque......ty
Hi Loved your video and I heard you mention ever note a few times, was wondering if you could give me a link or if you have a video on the program that you mentioned? It sound like something I would find very useful for keeping records of my paper documents. My name is Karolina and I can also send you my email or just post the link on here?
Oh, I so love Evernote! Their main site is here: www.evernote.com . You can put it on any device, it syncs beautifully, and the handwriting recognition is incredible.
Yeah... this was my very first video, five years ago. Before I posted it, I was advised by someone to title it as pertaining to any kind of ringed planning system, hence all of the names. Five years later, hindsight shows me that it can be totally misleading. I should go through all of my old videos and check the titles!
I am a UA-cam junkie, I watch ALOT of videos. You have a terrific voice on camera. Your planner is fantastic! Thank you for sharing.
Love the way you have personalized your planner for productivity and cuteness. It’s the perfect balance. Also, I like the way you use your washi tape.
You are quick and to the point with your pages. Brilliant. Ooh I love your busy calendar pages and the system you got going, makes me happy just looking at it. I really 💟 the idea about writing what you do so you can see that you do a lot of things 😊 I'll steal that idea 😙
I have a page at the end of every month where I list my accomplishments for the month. I got the idea from the law of attraction planner which has a two page spread for month in review. @Dawn Walters, I love those dividers -- a quick trim & punch and they're ready to go.
You're all too sweet! Thank you for the wonderful comments and encouragement. (And thank you for watching the video despite the wackadoo lighting!)
This is functional art... and I love how you explained everything clearly while still keeping to the point. I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing ^^
This is my first video of yours. And I just want to say that I think you're a magical unicorn of a woman. Cheers to you! You're amazing.
You're too sweet! Thank you so much for sharing such kind words.
Great set up! Can't wait to see your Malden.
@Dinafair Thank you so much! I'm happy that you all seem to like my voice -- to be honest, every time I hear someone in the house playing any of my videos I beg them to turn it off so I don't have to hear my own voice! Thank you so much for watching!

I totally get it with the frat house! I have the boys plus 5 nephews I have often!!!! Love your tips and tricks! Go mom!!!
I liked the look of those pages in your Home section that have a border.
I LOVE the summer sounds of the Locusts :)
Thank you so much! I'm enjoying making the videos!
That's a great idea! I will definitely do a video of what I use to decorate and organize my planners. (There's nothing crazy-exciting, but I recently started using double-sided tape and origami paper to decorate, which is absolutely lovely!)

Can't wait to see the 2 planner routine!
You have such a big & beautiful family. Cheers to you!
I really enjoyed this video and I do hope you will make some more videos. Thank you
Wow you talk about multitasking ! Keep up the great work .
SCRAP booking with a franklin planner makes sense. THE SUNDAY review puts in perspective the reason for the season. A planner valued around the initiatives designed to upgrade lifestyles and values.
Another great post :) Would love to see your colorful "stash" of goodies that you use on your planner.
What are the little triangles/arrows on left side? I will look to see if you have a detailed overview of your planner :) I have a new Day timer like this, although mine doesn't have all the awesome pockets :/ WHat is this style called, I have the new pink one

Have you considered one of those two days per page layout? Filofax has them and it gives a good amount of space.
Loved your video. Hope you do more.
@peppermint383 Ha! The woes of filming outside away from the frat boys! Damn June bugs!
I LOVE your HAIR!!!
Honesty, I just use a single hole punch and punch each hole individually after lining the edge up to a paper from the planner that's already punched. Rapesco makes all kinds of different punches, but I haven't gotten one yet.
Im muslim from Egypt i loved this so much and happy that i saw that👏👏
I like that brownish red binder. I tried to find it on their homepage. Unfortunately it's long gone, the only "soft flex" they've got now is a black one, which, I think is sooo boring.
@KatLeNoir, let me know how you like it!
EXCELLENT!!!! I've watched a ton of Filofax videos and this one is great! Thank you! BTW, I also used the file folders from Micheal's for my dividers
I did try them for a week or so, but, unfortunately, I had already used this Week on 2 Pages layout and had become rather attached to being able to see my whole week in front of me. (Read: I'm just too picky. Period.) Thanks for the suggestion, though!
What is your favorite pen? :)
Aw, I'm happy that I could make your day better!
You are one organized lady!
Refreshing video. Your set up is really nice and looks, like it works well. Do you find Evernote easy to use with your system? Thanks for sharing.
I like this planner.
did you use a specific hole puncher to punch out the hole or was it a single hole punch.
Very nice video.....makes me realize I don't NEED a filofax..... but I do want one LOL
Oh, and I tried to find you on Facebook, but there was more than one account with that name.
You have mentions digital scrapbook paper. Where are you finding this and how does it work?
the ring on your left hand is gorgeous! What kind is it?
Oh, no! At least you get to have the fun of shopping for a replacement!
Great setup nice video
Awesome video!
I have just bought this off ebay bc of this vid! yay!!

What pen do you use on your filofax paper? Everything i have bleeds through.
Where did u get your planner binder? On line?
Do you go through the whole organizer daily?
Just found you i have enjoyed your vlogs so far. Btw ur haircuts cute!
Great video :) I want a bigger panner now......hmmmmm...
i have the same filofax
I'm trying to convince myself that one of these things are useful and/or superior to a computer/ipad/iphone. How do any of these paper organizers perform when you have over 2,000 contacts? Do you manage them on the computer and then print them out and punch holes, etc.?
Looking at tons of videos before I decide to get my next Filofax. I had one in hs and lost it. =[[
How come you had so many children? Were they planned or happy accidents? Did you always want a lot of children? Much love and blessings xxx
Hi
Loved your video and I heard you mention ever note a few times, was wondering if you could give me a link or if you have a video on the program that you mentioned? It sound like something I would find very useful for keeping records of my paper documents. My name is Karolina and I can also send you my email or just post the link on here?
Oh, I so love Evernote! Their main site is here: www.evernote.com . You can put it on any device, it syncs beautifully, and the handwriting recognition is incredible.
Thanks so much I will go check it out :)

What did I just watch? I'm confused.......I thought this was a setup of all the planners listed in the title. Oh welll......tfs
Yeah... this was my very first video, five years ago. Before I posted it, I was advised by someone to title it as pertaining to any kind of ringed planning system, hence all of the names. Five years later, hindsight shows me that it can be totally misleading. I should go through all of my old videos and check the titles!
Carie Harling Lol...😂😂😂😂still a great setup!
Aw, I'm happy that I could make your day better!
