Hi, Carie! I have been researching everywhere to find the best way to organize a filofax & your set up, to me, is just awesome! I love this video! Thanks for sharing!
I totally know what you mean about not wanting to record in front of people - including, and perhaps especially, family. If it's any consolation, you sounded great through the entire video. Thanks for sharing your set-up!
Carie: Oh, that's really encouraging to hear! Neither do I have any fancy equipment, but the camera in my Samsung galaxy S3 is quite good. :-) I'll give it a try. :-D
Looking thru your videos because your so thorough and I'm setting up a ring bound system and need inspiration...i think this has to be my favorite set up You have had!!! Very nice!!!
Love your videos! I just got my DIY Fish inserts a few weeks ago, and I love them! I'm still working on using them fully, so I was very happy to see you put out a another video! :-) Thanks! :-)
I really enjoyed this video. It has given me so much to think about. This was super informative and has made me now want to rethink my current planner setup. Thank you
+Sam Seif Oh, thank you so much! I've had quite a morning of frankly not-so-nice comments about my blathering on about my family, so seeing this comment made my day! Thank you!
OK, Have a strange question for you. How did you get all of those sticky notes to stick on your dividers? Once I peel my sticky notes off their original backing I can never seem to get them to stick to anything else in any kind of bulk. A sheet at a time and they work fine but looking at you turning your dividers with none falling off and I had a little sticky note envy!
Thanks so much for sharing such a detailed video! I'm also a believer of having back up of back ups (b/c you just never know..) And I only film when no one is home as well haha Thanks again!
Carie Harling I would love to do some videos but I am also a "closet" video'r!! :) But my hubby is ALWAYS home . . . he also works from home. And the days that he is out-and-about are the days I am too . . . at least it seems like it works out that way. I am LOVING these videos and am trying to make some planner pages like this but tweeking them some to fit my needs. THANKS for sharing!
I've watched this video yet again, and it occurred to me that I've never told you how jealous I am that you've been so close to The Cup. I'm a Carolina Hurricanes fan, and we've only had one visit with it (not dissing the Canes, but c'mon guys!) so I think it is super cool that you've been so close. Just don't drink out of it. You have no idea where it's been. :D
Luv your videos!! I think you're such a cutie!! My hubby says "she's a sprite!" We both think you're adorable and thanks for sharing!!! Maybe I'll do a 2014 setup for my black Malden as well. :)
also addicted to your blog as well! I got a Filofax for Christmas- don't seem to have the set up that is just right. I'm a teacher so I have a ton of lists to complete each day, so just trying to work out a system that suits x thanks for sharing your ideas x Lorna x
Would love those inserts I got some of her old ones and downloaded wrong reader with my lack of computer knowledge and crashed my computer and lost everything on computer husband was not happy with me lol . Scared to try again but love your videos I will just live Through you
As usual your video is amazing! Thank you for sharing. A funny little thing, every time I watch your videos I get all giddy. You are like a hard copy of my mother when she was young. She's short, blonde and looking like an adorable elf on the old photos from her youth. Just like you. :-D Anyhow... I am thinking of doing my own videos, but I'm stuck on the how. You know, what to use, quality issues, how to set it up and stuff like that. Couldn't you do a quick video on what you use, your setup and such? I would be so grateful! Also curious about the new printer. Looking for a new one myself. Lotta love Linda
That's so sweet! I'm glad I make you giddy... :) As for how I record the videos. You're going to laugh at this. I usually use my iPad (sometimes I use the Mini, depending on which kid has currently mooched which belonging of mine...). For the intro/chatty part, I just pile up some books on my desk and prop the iPad up in its cover facing me. For the Looking-Down-At-The-Planner Part, I go all high-tech... I put a chair up on my desk, lay the ipad down on the seat of the chair so it's looking down at the planner, and record. I know. Massively expensive, high-tech, impressive set-up. But it works.
Carie Harling Is it a glass chair? I don't get how you can lay it down in the seat and film. However . . . . VERY creative and it's so something I would do. :)
The floral/pastel post-its came from Barnes & Noble, and the rest of them came from Office Max. I almost went back to B&N to purchase another set of each of those floral ones!
Really like your vids. I'm new to planners. What would you suggest for a first planner size- personal pocket...etc. Only want to start with one. Not as busy as you are. I usually use a calendar book but would rather have a planner to keep everything together. Also what type of book should i start with. Its very overwhelming,,,Any help is appreciated. Thank you
I'm so sorry for my delayed response... I've been sick for three weeks. I'm finally catching up! Personally, I like the size of a Filofax Personal, Daytimer Portable, or Franklin Covey Compact. They're all roughly the same size as far as width and length, but some of the Franklin Covey Compacts are thicker due to bigger rings. I also used a Desk Size Daytimer for a long time, but that is now a Project Planner as I found carrying my Personal Malden much more convenient. What really matters is that you find what you are happy with and what you will take everywhere with you -- having your planner with you as often as possible is really the biggest part of making any planner work for you.
I made the dividers from a Tim Holtz cardstock pack that I found at Michael's. I'll add a link to it in the Description since I can't add links in the Comments.
That's sooooo awesome I love it. Do your kids play hockey??? I'm a pro figure skater. My brother owns hockeyalley.com please check it out. I am also a planner lover!!!! I love your video
Because of your posts, I ordered diy fish. I love your ideas and I watch your videos to keep me on track. Thank you!

Yay for planners! I love seeing how other people organize, thanks for sharing.
I totally know what you mean about not wanting to record in front of people - including, and perhaps especially, family. If it's any consolation, you sounded great through the entire video. Thanks for sharing your set-up!
You are definitely not the only one that would prefer to film in an empty house!! I hate filming when someone is around. Great video btw!!

+Sam Seif Oh, thank you so much! I've had quite a morning of frankly not-so-nice comments about my blathering on about my family, so seeing this comment made my day! Thank you!
I would love to see a video on your weekly review process that you discuss in this video. Love your videos by the way!
A video of the weekly review process is definitely coming -- I'm hoping sometime next week. Thank you for watching & commenting!
Love the idea of the red triangles! I am gonna do that as well now
I actually got the idea from Adam, whose channel is here: ua-cam.com/users/adamsfilo. Helps me save time AND space on that monthly calendar!
Loved your video and your planner set-up!
I'm a firm believer in having backups of backups too :D

Oh, no! Sometimes I just detest technology...

Oh, I forgot! The printer is a Dell v725w. It isn't brand new, but it's new to us. So far, I love it.

Hi Karen love your channel your very cleat and easy to understand. Where did you get your beautiful post it ????
The floral/pastel post-its came from Barnes & Noble, and the rest of them came from Office Max. I almost went back to B&N to purchase another set of each of those floral ones!
Brilliant and informative video again...
Thank you so much!
What version is this? do you have a link for the specific version that u used here

I made the dividers from a Tim Holtz cardstock pack that I found at Michael's. I'll add a link to it in the Description since I can't add links in the Comments.
Which weight paper do you use for your LMI Carie?
I just use regular 20 lb. printer paper.
What brand printer do you have?
The printer is a Dell v725w. Not brand new, but new to me. I'm still figuring some of it out, but, so far, I'm very much in love with it.
The DIY fishweb site had been moved
It's so weird... it hasn't been moved, but all of my links in the comments weren't working. Fixed now, though. Thank you for the head's up!
OMG you sound like Jennifer Lawrence :D
That's sooooo awesome I love it. Do your kids play hockey??? I'm a pro figure skater. My brother owns hockeyalley.com please check it out. I am also a planner lover!!!! I love your video
None of the kids play hockey, but a few of them skate. Pro figure skater -- that's *so* awesome!! Thank you so much for your kind words.
