Oooooh, *TOM* Burton! For a second, I read that as "Tim Burton's pond" and I imagined a misty pond with black water, grotesque fishes and twisted skeletal trees.
I don´t know much about ponds at all, but Mr. Tom you are the man!!! I truly and only liked your pond! Will try to copy some of the things in life but if I dear to say! you are a master!!!
Beautiful Pond ... seeing this can melt your stress away ... love it ... I have a Beautiful Koi That I purchased from a fish store when he or she was only 3 inches long ... This Beautiful Koi is now about 18 inches long and lives in a 75 Gal. aquarium with large Goldfish ... He is going to out growing this aquarium soon ... I will need something larger for him ...
Looks like heaven to me...love the video, and Mr. Burton has some great information...a little insight into what it takes to be successful when keeping koi...I had no idea!
I seriously watched this more than ten times now, and i'm still not satisfied. This is just awesome. Makes me want to go to a shop now and buy Koi, sad that they are so costly, for sure with all that filtration...
In my backyard we have a wood, and a tiny trickle of a stream it's a tributary that leads directly into a swamp, and later into a local canal. I was thinking of perhaps changing it up and putting in a waterfall and koi pond between where it streams in and where it streams out, with a self-sustained solar pump. I was reading about naturally drawing nitrogenated water up to garden beds 5 stories above this little area which I would love to do.
Nice pond i recently build my own is about 3k gallons ,I will get some koi soon I want the beneficial bacteria to settle down first and if course i see that you have no rocks in the bottom of the pond which is the way to raise koi i hear i took my rocks after so much sludge settle under them which that will eventually cause diseases on koi, nice pond
Also, one last question How do you get ready for winter ? Do you bring your fish in ? 18 inches don't freeze ? Do you use deicers or do you keep the constant move of the streams ? It's so hard to figure out what to do in case of power outage (you must have a generator). Anyway really this is a wonderful job
I am so impressed with this design. I am so hooked on these interesting fish. I live in Jersey and started collecting in 2012. I would like to learn so much more. I've tried to find people or clubs nearby that are dedicated to these jewels. I have two ponds, 7,000 gallon and a smaller 300 gallon. Hopefully this summer I will be adding another 1,000 gallon pond. Where in Jersey are you located? Thank you for taking the time to give advice. I'm sure it has helped save many koi.
With Koys All you do is let them feed quite a bit more than what you usually do right before winter and then during winter do not feed them at all because they need heat to be a will to digest their food and just place A few small heaters and a few floating balls to keep some of the water unfrozen
Hello Tom, this is one of the beautifulest and nicest garden i have ever seen before. i love your video - an i agree with you completly. one of the important things of an real koi hobbyst should be a microskope. it is not very difficult, to use an microskope - but it helps so much to keep koi alive! Thank´s for this nice video! Roland from Austria
Sir your yard is my dream... I can hear me speak through you... haha naturally Feng Shui sensitive people... Also I wanted to as... how often do you have to add water ? I have a beautiful waterfall but I lose water constantly... with the streams that you have I m really wondering about the loss of water.
Well, I like your Pond, you must live in a warm State because it is just 18 inches deep. I live in Germany and the Koi stay out in the hard Winter so I need a depth of 5 feet to get them through the winter. What do you think about this? Chris from Bavaria, Germany!
I loved your pond.. I have a similar setting in Miami , FL .. a Japanese friend told me that in Japanese people has a name for Non-japanese people that love the japanese culture. such as ourself. I was concern about your dept. 18", and predators, bu i am sure that has been taken care of . my pond is 3.5' deep. to prevent birds and raccoons. to attack my fish.. my fish comes to me for feeding time, but i still haven't been able to train them to eat out of my hand.
@cchanderson What does being American have anything to do with buying Native fish. Whatever fish looks good in a pond. I would never buy a Bluegill or Minnows for my pond, and completely glad that I chose Koi.
Nice video, I got some useful information. I have 6 baby koi's and one of them seems to scratch itself at the bottom, it must be a parasite then. So how do we deal with parasites please. ??? Pls. help. anyone. I have heard that if not taken cared of, they could suck the living daylights out of your fish.
very beautiful!
You can feel the love for Japanese culture. As a Japanese person, I want to say thank you.

Very educational. Owning a pond must be a dream come true.
Watching this again. Great production. One of the most beautful ponds, koi and gardens in America.
I don´t know much about ponds at all, but Mr. Tom you are the man!!! I truly and only liked your pond! Will try to copy some of the things in life but if I dear to say! you are a master!!!

Beautiful Pond.
Very good info
Everything looks beautiful. Love the Japanese setting! Just wondering why chinese music is selected in this video!??? 😅
Because white people think Chinese and Japanese culture is one and the same.
Why is there Chinese music playing in the background instead of Japanese music?
those are Chinese koi. Duh.
the pond is beautiful!! worth admiring!
how did you keep the kois from eating the water lilies (or other plants)?
すごいです。ものすごく綺麗で、京都の町屋風で綺麗です。
Nice pond i recently build my own is about 3k gallons ,I will get some koi soon I want the beneficial bacteria to settle down first and if course i see that you have no rocks in the bottom of the pond which is the way to raise koi i hear i took my rocks after so much sludge settle under them which that will eventually cause diseases on koi, nice pond
Tom Burton could build koi ponds all over the world!
This is beautiful. Do you get a strong fish smell all around the house?
lovely pond
Very inspirational video. Thanks :)
This guy knows his stuff
I want a pond like that, I want, I want, I want

Very Informative, and enjoyed this video. Our pond was 5 feet deep, and filter 7 feet deep whirlpool. Enjoyed it till we got hit by TapeWorm.
My dream house ❤ if only i can have information on how much it did cost u and by who u build this japanese style house and garden and tea area ..
This guy has got it going on. 👍
Holy shit this is Paradise 😍
How to clean, transparent and change the water and how to reduce ammonia ?

LOVE it!
Yes the pond is heated! Where are you in Canada?
Sir your yard is my dream... I can hear me speak through you... haha naturally Feng Shui sensitive people...
Also I wanted to as... how often do you have to add water ? I have a beautiful waterfall but I lose water constantly... with the streams that you have I m really wondering about the loss of water.
Magical.
THANK YOU TOM
How do you heat the pond - please let me know. I am in Canada have a koi pond and need to heat it this winter.

i was thinking about bettlejuice pond!
Do you have a water heater for winter months?
Amazing
The background music will down grade my appreciation to this wonderful fishes and the garden. Not all Oriental are Chinese.
Eileen Yeung Well, I guess who ever put this video together can't tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese. lol
Are you sure the design and the fish are not originally from China?
I have to admit i did not like the 18 inch depth at first but this guy really seems to know his shit
18 inch depth is ridiculous. I guess he has no winter where he lives, also Predators will love that. It gives the fish nowhere to go
you can use an aquarium heater just go to your local pet store, walmart, homedepot and tell them what you need
man those are some nice fish
I'm making a zen garden. How did you get the arch and bridges?
Omg I want a pond like this
6 people need to take it easy in life
@cchanderson
What does being American have anything to do with buying Native fish. Whatever fish looks good in a pond. I would never buy a Bluegill or Minnows for my pond, and completely glad that I chose Koi.

Nice video, I got some useful information.

Pls. help. anyone.
I have heard that if not taken cared of, they could suck the living daylights out of your fish.
The only thing is missing is an beautidul geisha pouring tea in that teahouse.
Best ever!!!!
strange that the background music are chinese music..
+testu nakayama hahahah very distracting and insulting lol. Typical of uncultured videos.
I wanna see Tim Burton's pool.
