I keep wondering why the previous renovators piled floor upon floor instead of removing the floor and replacing it. You guys are doing a great justice to this historic building.
We have an old farm. Floor on floor was normal in early years. That Black stuf i think is called klinker-isoliet in Netherlands. It's baked mud. It's light and used as concrete filler. Greetings from the Netherlands 👋🏽🇳🇱
I am astounded by the layers of floor you guys uncover. Honestly I understand that the demo may seem mundane to some people but I find it fascinating what your team accomplishes.
My last house was a Victorian home and when remodeling the upstairs bathroom there was 6 layers of flooring including wood, linoleum and carpet with carpet being the very top layer and a few layers underneath. So weird. And gross to have carpet in a bathroom.
Yanis is such a hard worker any girl that gets him will be so happy and your dad is a sweetheart at his age he does alot just tell him to be safe and don't over do it
8:30 that'd be nice in planter pots or whatnot for drainage. Reminds me of Perlite or Vermiculite or whatnot. Perhaps make yourself some hypertufa planters for out in the back 40.
*Insulation beads - It comes in bags... and then spread over. I had seen this being used in Germany on 'Laura Kampf' yt channel when she was working on the floor as she is doing up her home . 🙂 Yanis is the master of demolition. 🙂.*
Yanis is such a hardworking guy. Mr. Petherick Sr. always busy too. I remember my granddad in his farm, busy, with very hard work, riding his horse to see his crops and cattle. He passed at 92 y-o. If I ever feel lazy, I just have to think of them, or my mom. It's such a spur. Crack on!
@@JudyCarter-kl7beplus the nuns were living There. They'd want as lityle disruption as possible. One room at a time, once it got emptied after one of them deceased
It's so nice to clean up before you go to next part. That way your not looking at a mess when you're ready for next step!!! Ryan, do you see why it's done this way??
Rick with the pole lifting the floor such a hard worker and mick he never stops billy like the way you explain what your doing and you just don’t stop working and yanis as well ,so well done everyone it must be a lot of work for you billy working and filming as well but we do enjoy your channel so Thankyou .💖
As always, the work accomplished here is absolutely amazing! All of your hard work is greatly appreciated by so many. Billy, Mick, Yanis, and everyone, you all are amazing for your work ethic, determination, care, and hard work. You're always in our prayer!
1:35 Your "Big Red" there reminds me of our "Big Blue" crowbar that gets a lot of demo done. I love watching this because of how much it relates to my work. I just got done applying lacquer to a bunch of trim and a door in a customer's prayer room added onto their house. And I love coming home to watch the progress on this convent. Keep it up, Yanis!
Great job Yanis, Mick, and of course Billy!! Really a lot of progress is happening in a brief amount of time. I have a feeling Gwen is anxious for things to be finished so she can implement her plans.😊
in Denmark we often use Leca and it looks like the materiel in the floor, it is made of burned clay. we use it for isolating in floors, often under concrete, it is fireproof and soundproof, and it keeps the shape.
Yeah, same in Finland, mostly used in environments where there is great moisture stress and as capillary break. Name comes from "Lightweight expanded clay aggregate" (LECA) 😀 It is a product that they might actually find useful. 👍
Billy with the next load of lumber. Stand on the truck and pass it up the window above. So move the lumber once. So the lumber is right at hand to use. That black stone could be reused as decorative stone .
Billy, everyone is working so hard. What great progress you are making. I look forward to every video. 😊 I understand everything thing you're doing. With time you will achieve your goal. Gwen will love it I'm sure.😊
Billy,Mic,Yanis my dears. It is incredible how much debris has been removed from the ceilings and floors. Still so much to go. I hope and pray everything goes as planned. Until tomorrow. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺👍🌹🕊🌞🙏❤️🌈🇺🇸😇
Bruneau told me that he managed to free you of the stained glass ! NO idea what he is going to do with it but thanks for him, he is very creative and often does jobs for people. Hugs xxx
In Germany we use a granulate to level the floor if they are very uneven or if you need to come up to another level. It's a dry fill instead of a levelling cement.
Next summer you could run tours through the place on a limited basis. Something your Dad might enjoy doing. Im sure the locals and travelers would be interested to see your accomplishments. ♥
There is something quite touching about this place. A community of women with the same goal/mission working together. There must have been a sense of accomplishment. However, i imagine it also must have been very lonely at times.
This reminds me of when someone opens a gift, only to find another nothing in it to find another box, and inside that another box, etc, till they finally find a small but lovely gift in a tiny box. Ha! What is that saw that you're using? I love that it's fairly small, and has a battery. It's not always convenient to use a table saw.
Billy might be the right time to take your telehandler to the convent. From then rear of the property, you could lift the wood up (amongst other materials) Percindicular too the window then handball. Also, the scrap wood down and burn it on the field.
When you add the subfloor you can put in stand-offs or acoustic caulk at the contact points with the old subfloor to isolate the new one. Should help with the noise transfer from bedrooms above the dining room.
That insulating gravel stuff is really interesting!! I would save it too! But I would use a shop vac and spare my back. Awesome work as usual. Love your channel. ❤
Once you have the flooring removed and the beams have a chance to rebound somewhat, you can achieve a lot of additional stability by supporting the beams in the new position and adding stiffbacks upstairs. To do that, you would screw 2x6 timber flat on the top side of the beams and then screw timbers to the edge of the horizontal timbers you screwed to the beams. It makes an "L" shape and gives a lot of strength and stability where you can't support the beams on top of a load bearing wall. That would take a lot of "flex" out of the beams.
Please may everyone remember to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE, & please may we also SHARE. The channel is close enough to 500 K subscribers that if we work together, I believe we can reach that goal! Thank you! Blessings from an old lady in Southern California, 🇺🇸
Billy Another question today how many centimeters of height did you gain removing the layers of floors? I know it's going to look just wonderful you have such a great vision thank you for sharing your project with all of us
Not an awful lot as originally the floors never had any services or drainage so i need to keep them high enough for appropriate fall regarding waste pipes. It will be close enough to the library gallery though
Billy I look forward to spending some time there when it’s all completed can’t wait it would be for your subscribers if they could meet your team as I’m sure I’m not the only one that can’t wait to come over and admire your hard work 👏👏👌👍
"Yanis".. Is like a one man wrecking ball...... Such a hard working young man,Take my hat off to you Yanis..
I bet he sleeps like a baby at night. I bet they all do.. hard workers!!
I keep wondering why the previous renovators piled floor upon floor instead of removing the floor and replacing it. You guys are doing a great justice to this historic building.
Cost. They get paid to lay a floor, it would cost the nuns more to have the previous floor removed and disposed of.
Great headway again today. You guys are working really hard. Mick is amazing, keeping up with everyone. Crack On!
It looks like the room has gained almost 2 feet in height.
Insulation to help keep warm possibly? Plus labor cost?
Because the nuns were still working and living there. The disruption would have been far greater if they had.
You can see why the doorways into the bedrooms / cells were so short now ! All those floor layers!!!! 😮😂
Yes That makes sense!
So, it wasn't poor nutrition stunting people's growth?
Yanis in his happy place, big metal bar in hand ripping up stuborn flooring 😂
Yannis is now the expert in demolition at the convent .
We have an old farm. Floor on floor was normal in early years. That Black stuf i think is called klinker-isoliet in Netherlands. It's baked mud. It's light and used as concrete filler.
Greetings from the Netherlands 👋🏽🇳🇱
Your truck was a great investment! You're definitely getting your money's worth out of it!
Right, The labor and time saving and materials movement its done for them has to have been worth the cost by now.
So are all of his friends.
So many layers of flooring its crazy! Great to hear the beam is sighing of relief! Crack on guys!
That was probably the groaning the computer picked up 😂
Be careful Yanis...you will feel that later in life ❤
I am astounded by the layers of floor you guys uncover. Honestly I understand that the demo may seem mundane to some people but I find it fascinating what your team accomplishes.
Yanis in his element, like a fish in water: demolition work!
My last house was a Victorian home and when remodeling the upstairs bathroom there was 6 layers of flooring including wood, linoleum and carpet with carpet being the very top layer and a few layers underneath. So weird. And gross to have carpet in a bathroom.
The floor is like an insane, indoor archeological dig😂😂
I can’t believe, all the layers of flooring. But I find this very interesting. Great progress and only Tuesday.
I would love to have those floor boards…the things I could build with those!
I was thinking the same thing! As well as Simon, who is such a recycling guy at his home in France
Great to see Yanis, your father and you Billy. You men are not scared of hard work
It’s great to watch the transformation from cells to lovely rooms😊
Yanis is such a hard worker any girl that gets him will be so happy and your dad is a sweetheart at his age he does alot just tell him to be safe and don't over do it
the black balls are argex, also used in concrete to make it lighter and more energy efficient. It may also be used in plant pots.
Lights, camera, and....Yanis!
Monumental work load now and for the time being. With steady Yannis and your father as your right arm...you got this Billy. 💪
8:30 that'd be nice in planter pots or whatnot for drainage. Reminds me of Perlite or Vermiculite or whatnot. Perhaps make yourself some hypertufa planters for out in the back 40.
If it's the same stuff as i have in my crawlspace, it's coated polystyrene beads, not the kind of stuff you'd want floating around in the garden.
*Insulation beads - It comes in bags... and then spread over. I had seen this being used in Germany on 'Laura Kampf' yt channel when she was working on the floor as she is doing up her home . 🙂 Yanis is the master of demolition. 🙂.*
Enjoy watching all that heavy stuff get torn up. Yikes, what a nightmare.
Crack on!
You guys doing an amazing job, so many floors…incredible what they did then..
Floors upon Floors upon Floors...
Results of lazy builders??
I look forward to these episodes every day!
😊
Could be a case of the least expensive route to go for the convent. Pinching every penny I imagine.
@@JudyCarter-kl7beplus the nuns were living There. They'd want as lityle disruption as possible. One room at a time, once it got emptied after one of them deceased
Actually it wasn't uncommon in the states either
4 layers is the limit and it has to all come out and start over.
It's so nice to clean up before you go to next part. That way your not looking at a mess when you're ready for next step!!! Ryan, do you see why it's done this way??
Bet you’re all shattered! Love your vlogs Billy xxx💕💕💕
Keeping the mud is a fine idea. Better to spend time and money elsewhere.
Amazing to watch those boards pop off. Yanis is a machine.
You guys make my back hurt just watching you work. 💕🙏
i thought i’d miss those old rooms…don’t miss them one bit..love that you start with a fresh canvas ❤
Rick with the pole lifting the floor such a hard worker and mick he never stops billy like the way you explain what your doing and you just don’t stop working and yanis as well ,so well done everyone it must be a lot of work for you billy working and filming as well but we do enjoy your channel so Thankyou .💖

I wonder if all the flooring contractors were related.
😂😂

Then of course "Big Green", our sledgehammer. And "Darth Maul", our 4 pound Maul (hammer).
Great job Yanis, Mick, and of course Billy!! Really a lot of progress is happening in a brief amount of time.

So many floors so little time. Love how Yanis gets stuck in❤❤❤🥳🥳🥳👌
Really glad you're leaving the mud & planning for soundproofing!
Billy you are so fortunate to still have your Dad. Cherish the moments!
AND you guys don’t have to remove it all!!! Win Win
Well done guys you are all doing a fantastic job .👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🌅
Well done 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💙💙💙

Crack on Yanis. Your a demo king. Mick is right in there for sure Billi is looking great
All them different floors it's mad❤
Billy with the next load of lumber. Stand on the truck and pass it up the window above. So move the lumber once. So the lumber is right at hand to use.
That black stone could be reused as decorative stone .
It's really interesting that they just kept adding layer after layer to the floor rather then replacing them.
What heavy, hard work! Rick isn’t there today. Hope he didn’t hurt his back from yesterday. Be careful guys.
I think Rick works Monday, Wednesday and Friday

That is a huge job! Well done!
lol I lost count of the layers of flooring Yanis was so enjoying his favorite thing “demolition”
In Germany we use a granulate to level the floor if they are very uneven or if you need to come up to another level. It's a dry fill instead of a levelling cement.
You maybe could use that black stuff as ground cover in landscaping!
Wow, what a hectic mess, anyway its getting sorted ❤
Given the price of timber, I hope you will be able to reuse some of what has been taken up. At the very least, as firewood!
Thank you for todays videoBilly❤
Another very busy day. Well done crew.
I saw pellets like those being used in Portugal for insulation. They were even mixed with cement to create a solid layer
Next summer you could run tours through the place on a limited basis. Something your Dad might enjoy doing.
Im sure the locals and travelers would be interested to see your accomplishments. ♥
This is one location that'll benefit from "starting with a clean slate" ...(or clear floor)....!
Quick moving Yanis!
You all are making great progress Yanis loves doing jobs like tearing things up lol big fan from the United States 🇺🇸💜💜
I remember the doors to the nun's cells being very low - it seems we now know why.
Billy is discovering the universe isn't turtles all the way down it is flooring all the way down
Much of the floors wood can be reused in reclamation or parket floors .
Yanis is a powerhouse! You are very lucky to have him on your team.
Thank you for informing us about the ceiling below where you are working. I was wondering how that was! 👍😁
There is something quite touching about this place. A community of women with the same goal/mission working together. There must have been a sense of accomplishment. However, i imagine it also must have been very lonely at times.
Like how you are explaining
So love seeing you guys renovating this beautiful building. Onelove2UAll

That flooring is unbelievable!
I'm picturing Simon at home with his feet up, chuckling that he isn't at the convent right now, lol
Excellent progress! Super episode! Thank you all! 😊❤🎉
Endless, endless work 😢
Such strenuous work
When you add the subfloor you can put in stand-offs or acoustic caulk at the contact points with the old subfloor to isolate the new one. Should help with the noise transfer from bedrooms above the dining room.
My 100 year old farmhouse had 7 layers of floorcovering when it burned.
That hideous 70's pattern linoleum under the new plank flooring needed fire.
Billy. A thought. You are doing your back a disservice. Use your legs for leverage. Your back will thank you in the long run.
Thank you for the video!
more floor
I take my hat off to you guys.great job.can top dress all of France with that dirt.❤❤❤❤
I always have loved archeology. 😁 This was slightly unorthodox, but still fun.
Great work & excellent planning ❤
That insulating gravel stuff is really interesting!! I would save it too! But I would use a shop vac and spare my back. Awesome work as usual. Love your channel. ❤
The crowbar master is back in action
Once you have the flooring removed and the beams have a chance to rebound somewhat, you can achieve a lot of additional stability by supporting the beams in the new position and adding stiffbacks upstairs. Such a big job!!! You are all such an inspiration
I would love to see the original floorboards in the hallway be kept in situ, cleaned up and somehow visible as an original feature!
