Billy don’t worry about the chapel- bar controversy. As you’ve said the entire building is deconsecrated. I’m a former ordained clergy woman. I’m proud of the work you’ve done. You are bringing historical level building back to life, giving it new life. Now it’s just a building that will be loved in a new way. Best wishes and prayers for continued safe rehab efforts.
It’s a beautiful arch! I think the chapel could be a lovely place for string quartets, maybe a small art gallery where people could stroll around looking at art, prints, and photos.
Your convent is so full of potentials! It could have a Co-working space, a small concert room for jazz, Indie groups, piano recitals etc A art exhibitions room, a photo & film studio , endless possibilities !!! A real excential addition to public life in the village, Great job Billy 👍🏼
Although deconsecrated, the space will always have a special feel. Historic structures always have a “feeling” to them as if they absorb the energy of events and people that were in them through the ages. Billy respects that.
A bar to have a drink before or after a wedding, and having it so close to where the chapel is actually makes sense. Everyone usually gets smashed at weddings anyway! You’re making it so much more convenient. A one stop shop! Rooms for guests, reception in the garden, wedding in the chapel, continual drinking at the bar! Lovely kitchen to meet with all those hang overs! No driving required. Honestly it’s safer that way! 🤷🏻♀️
Billy and Alex, you both are “work-aholics”. Your chemistry and energy levels are contagious but you play-off each other so well. Alex your lighting and camera angles are spot-on! Well DONE, Gentleman! “After all…..it will be fine Alex”….Keep telling yourself that Billy!
Always someone saying something negative. It's not a Convent anymore. The work all you have all done is amazing, restorative and to meet your plans. You have preserved the main building instead of letting it rot. You have found and explained many historic things. It's been an awesome journey 😊
Hi, you shouldn't have to justify what you are using your own building for, I think its fantastic that you guys are giving this building a new lease on life, love the channel and I have learnt a lot from watching it regards.
Everything is looking so nice with so much progress! Everyone has an opinion and some have absolutely no problem with giving it to you! My mother used to say "least said, soonest mended!" Billy you have made me laugh with you once again! I do so enjoy your humor!
A beautiful building. I am sorry if people are getting overwrought about the re-purposing of the building. In the end, the Order decided to sell and they decided to sell it to you. So it is up to you to decide how to use it from now on. Nothing in your plans is disrespectful IMHO! Thank you for the video!
Billy, hearing you talk of your plans, it seems like you spend all your spare time, planning. Dreaming about what you intend to do to the Convent. It's the ultimate example of a 'passion project'.
@@joleneparrish You're right. Thanks for reminding me of something I should have thought of in the first place. I'm, uh, just going to shut up and sit right down over here.....
@@karenburrows9184 You are fine! The chapel was "deconsecrated" but to split hairs...it is a convent/monastery which is still blessed ground. I don't think Billy is going to do wild or crazy stuff. He has always respected the convent building and grounds!
The Chapel could definitely be used as a Music Hall, in the same vein as a school hall is used, for performances with a bit of a stage and then audience seating or even round table seating with space for a dance floor 🎉
Alex is a gem. Always happy to muck in when needed. All of you working at the convent are a great team - everybody has a “can do” approach 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💙💙
People are always interested in unimportant things, especially if they are not their own! Even if you open a nightclub with table dancing, it is your property, you can do whatever you want in the building (pimp Ben 🤣🤣hahahaha). For 30 years, no one was interested in what happened there. Go on and don't worry about what others think of you, it's your dream!
I hate that people criticize what you are doing with the convent. You have class and great design sense. You would never create a seedy space. Keep being you and creating wonderful spaces for people to meet up and enjoy
Besides what Gwendolyn's plans are for the convent, (sorry I'm old and can't remember) but I think it was seminars or retreats, this would be a great venue for weddings and parties with suites to stay. Love it!!!
Ok, so I haven’t watched videos in… maybe half a year, at least? Life happened, and then I got behind, and playing catch-up would take a LONG time, but… I didn’t recognize Billy at first! Holy cow. You’re looking great, man!
Wow, couldn’t tell how huge the arch was until you took it all the stuff down, looks fantastic. I bet people in town are interested in what you’re doing but would see the scaffolding and think it’s out of bounds. Luckily they can watch the videos.
People staying at the convent can pour themselves an early morning hot drink and sit in the beautiful peaceful chapel space, the lovely library or walk the quiet garden paths. What a wondrous experience.
Billy, thank you for giving us a preview into the bar area. The revealed arch is amazing!!! I can imagine beautiful deep red velvet curtains hanging from the arch. The curtains can cover the large opening in full to separate the spaces or be pulled back and draped to the side - gorgeous😄❤️
Curtains that big and heavy will need to be rigged like theatre curtains so they can be pulled open and shut. The raised floor of the bar room (possibly extended toward the chapel) then could function as a stage for a small band, chamber ensemble, choral group or lecturer.
Again, absolutely beautiful! It doesn't seem like the convent could get any more beautiful and somehow it always does. This is going to be beyond amazing when it is finished. Thank you always for sharing! May the Lord bless you and keep you always, take care!
I can't wait till you expose the existing windows in the bar, they are amazing and so much nicer than the facade and weird stained glass panels that are not in keeping with the building .. as you said before.. the bar is shaping up to be another great space... the archway is fabulous, very theatrical.
Love it ! What a beautiful arch ! Can imagine some nice lounge seats with some small tables and live music playing, people chilling and enjoying in the chapel or standing in the bar room... So nice
I can hardly wait for Michael too start restoring the Chapel ceiling. That should be really interesting....❤❤❤❤your channel! Cheers from Ontario, Canada 😊
You’ll have to do something special with the stained glass panels. - they’re beautiful. The chapel would be lovely used for village at Christmas possibly?
Billy could ask the locals to hold a Christmas artisan market in the old convent with French refreshments. I'm certain that would be a lovely event. If the weather was dry enough you could have outdoor stalls lit up.
What a grand arch! It makes a huge difference. Well done Billy. I have to laugh when you say you're not going to do much, but can't stop. And when you are too excited to wait. I'm the exact same way. My son laughs every time I say either one of those. It's fabulous. I can already envision how it's going to look. Billy you are very inspired, and inspiring. As for Alex, I hope you also got extra pay for doing manual labor, and being in a danger zone! 😉😎😅
Billy ... you are so cute and passionate about your work. Your enthusiasm is fun to watch!!! Probably also known as work-aholic, but if you're loving it ... thanks for sharing. Colorado Cherri
Loved this surprise video on a Sunday! ❤ I am worried about that beautiful floor, getting ruiened when you take the metal down. ((??)) Billy & Alex so funny 😁 😂. Chicago USA 🇺🇸 here & we need a bit of France & Pethricks over here all day. Lol
That big, beautiful building, a former convent, will soon be a place of entertainment and music, weddings, and all kinds of things. It would be a real treat to spend time there in person to help ring all spectacular things. ❤😂
Billy I love what your doing with everything at the convent it has to work with modern day and be a space to make money it can not sit and be a museum , keep going love everything
I'm with all the others--the chapel is beautiful in its own way but I think the bar-and-chapel connection will be lovely. You idea for velvet curtains sounds interesting and will evolve over the next couple of years as work progresses in other areas and you begin formulating the "look" of the bar. See you soon.
Wow, three handsome guys with videos this weekend….that makes it perfect! Thank you Simon, Michael, and Billy!!! It is wonderful that Simon can reuse so much of your “discarded” material, Billy. It’s a beautiful arch! I think the chapel could be a lovely place for string quartets, maybe a small art gallery where people could stroll around looking at art, prints, and photos.
I was thinking along those lines too. With the organ it would be lovely for a Christmas choral concert.
You could rent it out for sll these functions …. and more

Billy and the lift was priceless the oops and things falling too funny.
Yes! Billy kept us on pins and needles wondering when he was to bonk his head and with his oops. He and Alex are sure a team
Don't play bumper cars with him!

What a great treat! The Pethericks on a Sunday. Yay! You're place is looking incredible! ❤❤❤
It's going to be beautiful when your done, it's not a chapel anymore so let's all relax! An event space and a lounge, sounds Lovely!
Turning the chapel and bar area into a cafe would be a really neat place. You can even turn the other room connected into a little book or art store.
Thanks Billy for helping me spit out my tea on a Sunday morning! "No strippers" in the bar was hilarious!
Had me laughing several times…… not funny Billy …..🤣

My experience with leaving the door open is you don't want the type of people who wander in because they don't understand boundaries
Especially with the keys still in the door lock! 😮
Even with signs, some people just have to enter doors that isn't for the public
