I made this exact toner using your previous video on (salicylic acid toner) as reference and it came out really nice, used same ingredients as Paula choice🥰🥰🥰 I love love it. Thank you Tara.
Tara, I think that most of your subscribers would love to see how to formulate Elf's Holy Hydration Face Cream. It seems to be all the rage right now and it's a doable formulation! I have never tried any Paula's Choice products. I formulate all my own skin care as well as selling my own products. The only thing I buy is my retinol product and my Copper Peptides. Which both are made by The Ordinary. I just love their products! I know several companies make retinol formulas, but The Ordinary keeps their formulas pretty simple!
It is a simple formula makes me wonder why everyone raves about it. 😀 You can make your own at a fraction of the price as you've demonstrated.Salicylic acid can be very drying. The ordinary have an anhydrous formula which is better suited for dry skin. I wonder if you could formulate a similar product Tara. 😊
Because we don’t have labs in our kitchen nor should we be acting like chemists and accidentally burn our skin. I’ll definitely keep purchasing from Paula’s choice.

Hi Tara, I'm so glad you made this video I couldn't wait to watch it. I've tried making this few times now with same exact formula without the polysorbate and it always ended up recrystallising on cooling. Initially, I thought it was because I added in Azelaic acid in mine then I tried few times without Azelaic acid and it still recrystallised on cooling. I'm quite frustrated 😂. What do you advice I do pls?

Hey Taralee you are such a great asset to the community.... I applaud you. 🙌🏾 May ask you, if i have liquid Salicylic acid would you still do the boiler method and also the ph buffer?. I thought to myself you don't have to but i need to ask you 1st before I make it. ALSO if I don't have propandial 1,3 what can I use instead? Thank you for your knowledge.
I've talked to a lot of people doing organic or natural products. It looks like for in natural preservative a lot of people use rosemary extract mixed with vitamin C and E
Thank you, love your channel! I’ve been trying to research this with no luck, but what other ingredients could you use to make a basic stock solution? Of course NaOH is one and baking soda, but are those two our only options?
2 questions: What is the difference between Lactic, Glycolic and Salicyclic Acid? What do you use or not use each one of them for? Also, when you make these formulations, how do you know what % to use of each ingredients?
Glycolic acid and lactic acid are under alpha hydroxy acid, while salicylic acid is beta hydroxy acid. Each of them as usage rate,u can google it for a better explanation.

Can you try to guess why the lanette o in this case didnt do the job on it's own, since u have great expertise ( that was my very first cream and I made a hudge batch ...biggest mistake can a beginner do)
my hand is doing much better! thank you so much for asking. 😊 i’ve never worked with lanette or ever heard of it. is it suppose to thicken or just emulsify. because it’s possible you might need to add in a thickener. that is probably why it thickened when you added xanthan gum. i would try adding in some cetyl alcohol. try 4%
@@TaraLeee thank y for reply, lanette o is supposed to be an emulsifying wax , the supplier advised that 2% to 8% depending on % of oil should be enough, I am so thankful for that xanthum gum it helped so much, next time I'll try to add cetyl alcohol as I already have it
Hi tara thank you so for this wonderful Video. Blessings. I need to know something. Can I use the same buffer solution in a formula with urea at 2.5 % and allantoin 0,5 % ?

Hi, Tara! For me, salicylic acid did not dissolve in 1,3-propanediol and polysorbate 20 (a cloudy clot formed), but dissolved in propylene glycol and polysorbate 20. And when phase A was added to phase B, a sediment formed at the bottom. Why is that?
Hi Tara, can you please tell me what the pH of the water is (should be), after adding the 4% pH buffer? I have some Triethanolamine on hand that I want to use to raise the pH of the water. Thanks.

I've been watching your videos over & over again. Been researching but can't find my answer, is a license needed to sell the products, like I do events that sell homemade products, wanting to expand. So would I need a license?
it depends on where you live. in ohio all you need is a vendors license which is what allows you to charge sales tax which is required for sales. so you will need to research the laws of your state. you should be able to find the info by googling your state.
give it a go and see how it turns out 😊 are those all low HLB though? i can’t remember. that’s the only thing i can think of that would possibly cause them to not work.
I'm kinda skittish about the sodium hydroxide since I have kids that get into everything, so not comfortable using that. Could I use baking soda instead to lift the pH or is it too weak to use in this?
Are you asking if sodium hydroxide is safe on the skin? No not on it's own, because it has such a high pH, since the pH is being changed to acidic it is no longer alkaline and won't hurt your skin. It is also highly diluted in this product. So it is diluted and no longer has a high pH to do harm.

The reason why PC product has no preservative is high glycols content and low pH. To dissolve Salicylic Acid you need a lot of glycols because it is stubborn and almost undissolvable in water.
