  • if you have a 2001 through 2007 Chevy equinox and you need to change the ABS control module ABS pump this is the video for you even though I’m doing this work on a 2006 Pontiac torrent it is going to be very very similar...... The ABS pump was actually pretty easy to replace and it was also plug-in place so that was nice I did not have to reprogram the computer to except the new module. If you are experiencing difficulties after replacing your module it could be that you had a defective wire or the controller is not from the same vehicle. I went around and looked this controller is the same on the Saturn Vue Chevy Equinox and Pontiac torrent of about the same year range.

    Already done that and replaced all the lines and replaced all the brake calipers and replace the master cylinder and it still does it it may not do it in a full day but you may drive it for five minutes and may do it it’s at random

      I know what you’re saying but you’re definitely have a contamination of fluid that is the only explanation for what is going on.
      As the fluid heats up in the side whatever it is trapped in. It asked just like your brake pedal it expands because it’s heated causing your breaks to engage. Thank you for the terrific idea on a video.

      By the way it’s been about 20 years since I’ve seen the same problem and I’ve only seen it once I changed every single component on this car except for the brake lines.
      None of it worked the owner ended up taking it to another shop and they found some kind of contaminant inside the brake fluid and ended up flushing the system I guess it took quite a while but eventually they got it all out of there. And the braked work fine After that

    I have been told by GM dealer that my ebcm is bad and not available for 2010 equinox, so anti lock, brake, and traction control lights are on. Is it possible to access the cars computer and reprogram to delete antilock brakes and traction control?

    Hey I’m feeling breaks pulsing when I press on them for my 2006 Chevy equinox I got the master cylinder and brake booster replaced as well as the ABS sensor and hardness. There check engine light or no codes coming up. I just replaced the brakes and rotors and I’m still having the same problem. They said that it could be my ABS pump going but I don’t know can you please help

      You must’ve missed it in the video but I would recommend going back and watching it. It shows you exactly how to check if it’s your pump or not.

    Im having problems wen i come to close to complete stop brake dose pulsate and wont stop the car no effect on brakes cones close to accident, can please someone tell me what can be,2005 chevy equinox front wheel drive i change rotors,caluper brakes.thank you

    Do i need to replace the pump if i need to replace module?

      Oh no you don’t that I believe of i’m fairly certain they can be separated but you’ll probably end up buying the pump and the control module at the same time because that’s the way most recycling yard sell them. But that’ll give you the opportunity to see how they separate and make a decision on if you can replace them without disconnecting the ABS controller itself. It will not leak fluid from the pump controller had module as long as you just remove the computer portion. If it does leak any that means the pump is bad anyways

    Hello, just replace abs module, i put an abs modulo from an 06 equinox into my 08 equinox, is it going to be necessary to reprogram the module? Thanks

    What were the symptoms of that bad abs pump.

      Well I can’t tell you every symptom because I don’t honestly know them all but most of the time when they’re going bad they have a tendency to pulsate when you stop every time but you need to make sure that there’s not a bad wheel speed sensor because this will cause that as well.
      That’s the only symptom that I know of off the top of my head sorry wish I could be of more help if you’re having different troubles and unfortunately I can’t say for certain that I’m 100% correct about that

    When it was messed up did it lock up the breaks

      No it should not ever do that. The ABS control module is designed in such a way that it should not ever affect your brakes working even if they fail it is a federally mandated requirement of all ABS systems.
      More than likely you got a contaminant in your brake fluid.
      Like if you accidentally got water in there and the water will heat up causing the brake system to think that the brake pedal is being pushed and lock the brakes up.
      Or you have a very seized caliper

      Slade Walker It’s very rare but I have seen it sounds like you got water inside your brake lines only thing you can do is flush out the entire brake system and I’ll bet your problem goes away

      Well i I bleed out my brake lines but I still have the problem. Brakes slowly locking up untill it can't go no where. ( only happens one side at the time. Abs sensors and fuses out . Still have the problem. Also stability track control light on

    I have a 2014 traverse that has the stabilitrak come on every great once in a while along with traction control... sometimes the brake pedal goes fully to the floor also! I’ve had a brand new brake booster, master cylinder and everything replaced. Still didn’t fix 1 issue. It’s infrequent enough that the dealership never gets it to happen and neither does the local mechanic... it happens once every 2 weeks or so. Sometimes longer. Sometimes shorter. Anyone had anything similar?!?!? Or any ideas??

      Here’s the situation with stability track lights they can come on for about 100 different reasons generally they come on for something that is non-internal life-threatening to the engine meaning that they can come on for an engine problem but generally not a problem that would make the engine become defective they can also come on for suspension problem ABS problems emissions problems the list goes on and on
      I don’t understand When people say things like the GM dealership cannot get it to happen when it’s there Nor in my local mechanic. ( that is not a cut towards you) it’s absolutely astonishing to me that these people act like they can’t do something when I am just barely an average mechanic and I can figure out just about any problem with any automobile
      I think it’s more of that they don’t want to take the time to do it. More they feel as if they’re not going to be compensated for the work that they do. And I would say that’s more than likely the situation here as well
      It’s much easier to change brake pads and sell people expensive parts then actually take the time to do a proper diagnosis.
      I had that same scenario this last week a jeep came to me that had been at the dealership twice and at a local mechanic shop neither one of them could “solve the problem” it did take me about six hours to figure out what the problem was and then I begin the repair diagnosing takes time but it is possible on any vehicle
      The point is if you have the money they can solve the problem.
      Now the difference between them and me is I ended up charging the customer about $800 to fix the problem but that included parts and I had well over 18 hours into the repair I also have about six or seven videos that I made during it so that’s helpful as well for the rest of the folks out there I hope you get your problem solved God bless and have a great day if I would’ve had an answer before I would’ve certainly offered it

We had a good conversation and you gave me some idea/tips to look at and for but pandemic and money put a damper on me doing ANYTHING, however now I finally have time and slightly some money to “dump” into the car with a reliable mechanic that I finally trust so hopefully we can make progress on my 20 month issue!!

    Chevy equinox sucks to work on! this is worse than replacing injectors. I have a pump that wont shut off so I pulled the main fuse and called it a day. Garbage design and its too bad thy usee he t3400 engine in a ton of vehicles and also in some fords from my understanding.
    wait until your toner rings chi and crack, thats loads of cursing matches also, while your there replace the junk tirods and lower ball joints and all your wheel bearings or youll be doing this again in no time. also if you do inhectors THOURGHLY check the injector harness, the routing leaves it to close to somthing, cant remember and it rubs so once you disturb those wires (2009 equinox) it will break a couple wires and or cause a arch and you will be left with cylindar misfires and it will act like a stuck open fuel inhector. Most the time you will experience this after you replace the spark plugs and disturb the wiring taking half the top of the engine off. Another great feat is trying to get a sepentine tool down to the tensioner. TIP, you will be good and ticked off by now spending 2 hours trying to rought that belt (lol), route evrything accept the aternator, use that anger and one of your wifes nylons or a ols sock and pull the fricking belt over the alternatorr pully and call it a day. Im 5ft 7.150lbs and I pulled the belt over it by hand with a new tensioner. Its a lot of force so make sure your good and pissed off!
    DONT UY HGARBAGE SPARK PLUGS OFF AMAZON OR EBAY, PAY the 12 or more dollars each or you can experience this a second time 2 weeks after those (brand you cant pronoiunce) plugs fail .
    good luck and get rid of that P.O.S while you can and get a toyota or honda

      Well, I’m certain I said it in the video, so I’ll just leave it at that. Please watch the videos. It really kills the algorithm when you only watch part of it.. that is a topic that I’ve covered several times.
      I don’t mean to sound like a dick, but look at it from my point of you I make this Contant and it really kills my channel analytics when somebody only watch as part of the video and doesn’t pay attention but the good thing is if you go back and watch it again and you listen to what I have to say you’ll get the answer to what you’re looking for
