    Pre partition generation is more or less gone & with them those who romanticized Indo Pak relations. Even the torch bearer of Aman Ki Asha Mr. Kyldeep Nayyar. The first generation of post partition borns are still carrying the vivid images of what was narrated to them by their grandparents & parents about the horrors of Independence. The current generation only looks towards those countries which offer them something that is of interest to them. Be it travel,education,culture, cuisine,adventure or competitive sports, business & career opportunities. Pakistan does not count on any of these grounds. This generation is not even sware of Pakistan unless it is some negative event in Pakistan or involving Pakistan. There is no scope of any possibility of reapproachment.

      I absolutely agree. I’m from a Punjabi Hindu family that ‘migrated’ from Lahore to Delhi.
      My great grandparents spoke about their neighbours in Lahore.
      My grandparents spoke about their schools and their homes in Lahore.
      My parents spoke about their parents speaking about their homes in Lahore.
      I sometimes (once in 2-3 months) watch a Pakistani podcast on UA-cam and then forget about everything I heard. I also can’t point out Lahore on a map.
      My children will probably not even know that we ‘migrated’ to Delhi, and they will most likely not even know that we have any connection to Pakistan.
      The ‘relationship’ is absolutely over.

    As an ordinary Indian Citizen, not politician or diplomat, the best way to make Obama know he wasn't being in his limits, i dare say meddling, is by calling him out loud, as loud as possible.
    It might not change, his way of consituency induced thinking, but the message has to go that the common Indian isnt very happy with his unilateral sweeping negativity.
    Unlike Ashok Sir, i dont need to be diplomatic by saying i respect Obama, not after this for sure, none whatsoever.

      He was less alluding and more of insinuating, that whatever he was mentioning about minority wasn't being followed here, of course, it could be uninformed or agenda driven statement.
      The same secularism holds true in all, whether US allies in Europe, where there is rioting, in many countries including champions of liberty - France, Sweden, Belgium or Greece.
      But was there any mention of this by Obama in any interview, no ? That's the reason I called it agenda driven.

    it was also very noticeable that when it comes to Pakistan - Ashok gave a very thoughtful, diplomatic, and nuanced response. The ball is in Pakistan's court. It's a pity that very few in that country can get the subtle signals and grasp the rapidly changing geo-political realities - Perhaps people like Uzair and other intellectuals should influence the powers in Pakistan.
    However, the million $ question though is "Who is in charge in Pakistan and what are their motives and intentions" - an honest answer to this 1 question is the only place to start....

    Gosh! If there ever was an eye-opener for Pakistan, it is Modi's US visit. People (not politicians) in Pakistan need to realize they're being fed with the same BS that they have been for decades now. Same old crap in new packaging. The constant narrative of India being the enemy needs to end. Who needs an external enemy when you have no money within the country? For Pakistan, the writing is on the wall. The way forward is as clear as the summer sky. It's going to take serious will and digging in if the country needs/wants to stand up on its feet. Pretty sure nobody in India cares about the 'Pakistan problem', given the trajectory their economy is on.

    What I don't understand is why is the reaction from an Indian politician a bigger problem than an American politician's triggering a response for an unwanted comment.
    I love Obama,, but this comment was extremely hurtful and it deserved a hurtful response, which I think is fine.

    One thing that i ll disagree with host is that without pakistan we won't be able to trade with Central asia... if we won't be able to sell goods at 100 than certainly on 115 we could via iran.. our big manufacturing center is not punjab its west-east coast juggernaut cities & certainly now UP is coming up but for that we have dedicated freight corridor, interlinking of rivers & huge upgradation of ports.. without pakistan we were doing good & ll do better only thing that concern us is cross border narcotics & terrorism... The way we are growing up we ll let our economic partners to sort it out on our behalf ie economic & political way.. i hope pakistan behave like normal country & feed its people first.

    Certainly a very interesting conversation. But as it concluded it somehow left me with a feeling that Uzair was rather anxious about India’s immediate neighbour on its West. Though I can appreciate why he would choose to dwell on it so much of his time explaining it certainly is a mystery why Ashok took so much time explaining the ‘relationship’ while the truth has already been stated several times and the best example would be what Professor Ishtiaq Ahead had to say just a few days ago: ua-cam.com/video/EOpVa20fCi8/v-deo.html

    A bit too much of a shallow commentary. Not much on the nuclear deal lacking progress, nothing on trade, lack of anything to show on technology, pharma. Just a few defence deals here and there. The jet engine deal is indeed big, but really hope that it does not go the nuclear deal way, that once the deal is signed nothing comes of it, no new reactors are built.
    India has good strategic alignment with the USA, but this is not able to deliver much in terms of geo-economics. Part of this is due to Make in India itself failing to deliver, so lets not blame the relationship, but then it is a bit chicken and egg

    • @apoorvchauhan6258
      @apoorvchauhan6258 11 місяців тому

      GE Deal inherently cannot go the nuclear way
      GE deal comes with huge domestic demand. Our MK2 (150+), AMCA Mk1(80+), TEDBF(Depend on Navy's req) fighter will be equipped with these very engines.
      You are looking at 500+ engines equiped on Indian jets. Limited ToT will help us a long with our indigenous programs.
      And I'm not even considering the export potential of Indian fighters which will inflate the numbers further.
      Having said that. I believe MoU were signed with US companies for Semi Con Fabs?
      Engine deal is just a start.
      We can't squeeze everything out of Americans in just one visit. Co op will grow with time.
      +Trade deal is quite a big step, US will try to get most out of India if it ever hits the agenda.

    • @abhaygoel4090
      @abhaygoel4090 11 місяців тому

      @@apoorvchauhan6258 OK. But the GE deal is just an MoU yet. It still has to be converted to a license. Then warranties have to be discussed. This same process went with the Rafale - in the original tender, Dassault was to produce this in HAL. But then the documentation went nowhere. So I am not too hopeful. HAL has not been very receptive to tech transfer. No one is questioning demand. Is implementation of the deal that is the issue

    • @apoorvchauhan6258
      @apoorvchauhan6258 11 місяців тому

      @@abhaygoel4090 Yes! I'll absolutely agree on lethargic attitude of our DPSUs on fruitifying Defence Deals.
      But we do have to consider the increased and sweeping role of GoI in such deals, considering the backdrop of MMRCA (RFP goes back to 2001) where GoI simply went for G2G.
      But in this case I'm quite hopeful of the progress, MMRCA procurement was in limbo due to issues with Dassaults apprehensions with shifting production to India.
      As for GE deal, currently we only have 8 GE F414s which can be utilised for testing TDs and at Max for 1 or 2 LSPs.
      Mk2 first flight is in 2025 and we can expect it to hit serial production in 2027.
      So HAL has 3-4 years for drawing up contract and setting up facilities.
      I'll also consider increased accountability of DPSUs. They have sketchy record but they are now making up for it.
      Having said that, one cannot underestimate red tape so I might have to eat my words in future lol.
      Time will tell but I'm optimistic

    One unfortunate characteristic I've noticed about public personalities from subcontinent (and this includes women as well) is that when we talk about a person as an example we naturally assume them to be men. Instead of he/him, we should use they/them, he/she or him/her. This isn't LGBTQ ideology, just basic decency to include women. I've actually watched female bureaucrats working in women's welfare departments show this habit as well, which is shocking!
