I am a racing fan and I can not describe how disappointed I get whenever I think that I am not a racing driver but working in an office. Now think about how this gentlemen feels when his best activity is taken away from him. Best of luck to Franchitti in the future...
I can't find anything about this man that doesn't demand respect. The sport will be missing his excellent skill and competitive edge. I hope he continues to be involved at a high level to help the sport evolve to all it can be.
I've never been much more than a NASCAR fan, but I am really sad to see this. I could only imagine the pain he has in his heart talking about not racing anymore. All racers live and breathe their form of racing. I've taken my son to all forms of racing. We seen Dario race first hand and he is a true talent no matter what kind of car he was driving. I remember my son pointing out his car saying "Look at that he pass he just made, he's really brave." My son and I have so much respect for this man, it's so sad that we will never have the chance to see him race again. Dario, you are a champions champion. A man that any young racer can emulate with pride. In the face of a life changing, race ending accident, you still present yourself with charming, Scottish class. Thank you for just being you, and know you still have fans that care, even if they are fans rooted in another sport. The only Indy drivers my son and I follow are you and TK. Best wishes and much love from Northwest Arkansas.
what a hell of a nice guy --- I'm so glad he pulled through and seems totally together--mentally, physically..... we don't know how difficult his recovery was but judging from the crash video its AMAZING how great he looks in this clip.
Finally getting around to watching this. I was hoping to be at Indy to witness him win his fourth '500, but given how things have turned out I'm just glad that I was there in person to see him win his third.
Truly a champion, even though this is one of the hardest things he has ever done. I have a lot of respect for Dario and wish him all the best in his future career.
Gutted you've had to retire Dario :-( But on the flip side, I am so glad you're walking (well hobbling right now lol) away with your health. Thanks for the memories mate
I am happy to see you laughing about some of this could of been a fatal crash and instead of tributes on here your on laughing having a good time stay safe man
I wasn't a big Dario fan, but he was a great competitor and I will miss rooting against him in the 10 car. He is a champion, none the less. Hope to see him continue to help Indycar get back on the right track.
Couldn't agree more Cobra. Wasn't a fan of him as a driver and to be honest Ashley was plain annoying at Indy. All 3 of his Indy wins came under yellow and my opinion is he wouldn't have won any under green. That being said, I'm in the minority as he is a very likable and personable man and I hope he can help Indycar get the respect it deserves. Finishing the 500's under green would help as well.
He still won Indy after Dan's death but I think I know what you mean if I remember right the rest of 2012 and almost all of the 2013 season he was off his game even when his crash happened
I was never a big Dario fan but man I hate to see his career end like that his wreck happened the day before my birthday but like I've always told people bad accidents like he had can happen on road and street courses also not just ovals apparently I need to say it again this time in Indycar as they are trying to make it to where the 500 is the only oval race in the series
Broken back, fractures, with old fractures, smashed, broken pelvic. Concussion with long term affects. Lost memory two before and to 3 weeks after the accident. He is very, very lucky to sitting in this interview. Today he still has memory issues.
Crazy, but, I didn't realize that Dario was married to Ashley Judd!!!!! Viewing this video, I was thinking, how lucky a girl would be to be involved in Dario's life. When I watch any race car driver, I wonder if my dad's cousin, who is involved with the racing circuit and knows Jackie Stewart, has me Dario. It would be interesting to find out what the answer is!!!!
Sad to think this car was supposed to stop cars driving over the rear wheels and going airborne and it fails in its first real world test, no better than the old cars. Harsh turth of IndyDeath racing: The damn wall can be made out of pillows and marshmallows and it makes not one damn bit of difference if the cars are hitting the fence at speed 10 feet above the wall. Slow them the eff down.
Ya ain't gonna happen real men go fast and as a racer you know the risks of injury or death that's why there different than any other athletes and if you are scared and can't accept that your in the wrong business

its so good to see Dario, laughing and joking. Huge respect to him, wish him the absolute best for the future. Legend
Good to see Dario well after that crash, still bummed that he can't race anymore. Still a legend! :)
The Classiest Driver ever....
I can't find anything about this man that doesn't demand respect. The sport will be missing his excellent skill and competitive edge. I hope he continues to be involved at a high level to help the sport evolve to all it can be.
He made it out alive...not all do

Dario, legend! Hope to see you racing again, maybe lemans? :-)
happy 4 him to step out of that wrek. lucky he is still ok.. maybe no more racing but living is more important.!
What a great driver. He was awesome in Talladega nights.

Same. I like TK. Wish he had a different number.
besweeeet2 Agreed, TK needs a different number. Why is he moving from #11?
Jonathan Sugianto
The #11 is owned by KV right now. It's now very valuable to them because of their 500 win with it.

great driver good luck
he looks and sounds so sad. i am truly sad that Dario is gone
He will ALWAYS be my favourite along with AJ Foyt!
Great Driver
thanx
He was never the same after Dan’s death. This was the best for him.
He still won Indy after Dan's death but I think I know what you mean if I remember right the rest of 2012 and almost all of the 2013 season he was off his game even when his crash happened
WOW HE IS GORGEOUS...WOWZA
dario is so awesome! wish he was still racing :( but hope he stays involved in racing somehow! AND not really happy with TK racing #10...
why did it take so long to get to the guys out there in their cars they akk need to look at this tape & find ways to be there way faster .
I'm glad he's OK. The safety of today's car is the only reason he's alive.
What a handsome man 😘😘
he keeps escaping death
I never heard what his injuries were.. Does anyone know?
Broken back, fractures, with old fractures, smashed, broken pelvic. Concussion with long term affects.

Divorced her and remarried.
Finally getting the family.
Team Owner?
I've had that same thought myself David. Much like Michael Andretti it's my opinion that Dario would make a great team owner.
