    I had to have a chuckle when Biffa deleted all the lights in the bus station then replaced them with larger ones but left a dark strip across the pedestrian crossing. Biffa certainly has it in for those pesky pedestrians lol.

      Deleting all those lights also deleted the lights that were on the ceiling too. Fairly sure that was unintentional.

    This should have been marked as pedestrian hostility 😅 The problem isn't the pedestrians with many crossings, it is more to do with the AI traffic and short distances between nodes. Maybe the timed traffic lights would have been the best way to go to guarantee easy access for all modes. Two or three different modes might suffice.

      Largely yes, but the peds ARE causing delays. Honestly with nothing built in that section at all and MOST of the pedestrian traffic just crossing all the way from the far sides of the coupleted streets, just running a ped bridge over both of the couplet would be the least inconvenient for all involved. The spirals being used just feel like they're making the trip longer than it needs to be.

    First of all, I love that you choose Ryde. That is one of my favorite assets in C:S.
    But then some critics. As a disabled guy but doesn't wanna use wheelchair because still my legs are working. Seeing you move all those crosswalks gave me a chill. You are prioritizing vehicles in front of pedestrians. If I was walking around the bus terminal it would be to long distances to walk the way you set up the crosswalks.

    For the couplet, I think you should use that road that adds the middle of the road overpass to bypass the couplet. I think most of the traffic is cause by people wanting to cross the couplet and getting stuck, and even if it isn't now, that will only get worse.

      Indeed, this is for all practical purposes a classical example of funneling local trips over the interchange between the collector and arterial. Very similar to a city divided by the "native" highway, where the only connection between the two halves is via the interchange. Need to provide an alternative route for local traffic.

    Couple of suggestions/questions:
    Do you need the dedicated turning lanes into the bus station, tho? Only busses will be using that turn so it seems a bit overkill.
    When you want to remove crossings, you should be doing it with TMPE rather than node controller, because node controller only removes the visual, people will still cross there.

    Public transportation lines make a lot more sense in a hub and spoke model.
    Where a line can double as it's own return route.
    I think the game designers also build the game more with that in mind.

    I think your new Ryde tour buses spawn over your disabled parking space, if you wanted to move that further up the road 😛 Looks good though, love all the Ryde vehicles and assets, very cool and consistent!

    I wish there were a content creator pack specifically for Biffa's transportation. I'd call it "Biffa Area Rapid Transit" or BART for short.

    I think those new Ryde trams are modeled on two types of trams you typically see around Melbourne in Australia. The E1 type appears to be based on the real-world E1 trams here, and the Z3 ones look like the older Z-Class ones that are gradually being phased out. Very cool to see real world details like that appearing in games!

      They are 100% based on the Melbourne trams, Zekiarsu has created nearly every modern melbourne tram model and in PTV colours and is kind enough to let me use them for Ryde, obviously with a different livery

      The Z class in Melbourne are technically Z3 class. The aren't too disability friendly because the are high-floor trams.

    The introduction of school bus routes that go in line with school capacity would introduce an interesting challenge. Adding on maybe school zones and districts. Love the Ryde pack!!, it is very well made. Keep them coming sir.

    A crossing from your bus station to the double loop pedestrian bridge would be very handy.

    Suggestion> You should move the spawn points of the Ryde sightseeing depo to the garage doors on the back 2:12, instead of the handicapped parking lot in the front.
    Also a Vanilla Overpass in front of the bus station would be great so that the large trucks don't keep blocking the straight ways. Alternatinvely, maybe even ban trucks on that road if there's another road for it.

    I think you need at least one street light in the middle of the bus roads at the Bus Transfer Station (BTS) to make it easier for the busses to see the people crossing the bus roads. Also I would remove the street namne signs from the bus roads in the BTS.

    Loved all the changes - those ride assets are great. I'm still worried about the roof of the bus station caving in though, and the crossing at the far end (furthest from traffic entrance) is still very dark at night. Just one more light will do it, I think. Also, glad you got rid of the taxiway lights :)

    On a timed traffic light, add a pedestrian only step. So all vehicle traffic is stopped and all pedestrians cross. Only for a short period. Then you don't need bridges at every junction with timed traffic lights.

    This episode was a perfect demonstration of when a grid breaks down because a main road has too many junctions. You kept throwing more lanes at it and making the city less walkable by switching off crossings.
    In London I have seen several solutions. The one I would suggest is making the side roads that are too close to the cross roads into dead ends. Eg delete the segment and then draw it back without connecting to the arterial.

    I think the interssection with the terminal will bite you in the a** as the city grows, too many roads and traffic turning all sides. You probably will need to force the traffic to stop going in front of the terminal and turning right to leave the city and just force them to take the caplits long route around the terminal, and the lanes in front of the terminal entrace will just to cross straight, no turning (besides the busses ofc). And if that isn't enough, then that little road should become exclusive for the busses of the terminal and service vehicles, which is pretty common on big cities around big terminals (at least where I live), normal traffic should just go around / take a longer route.

    14:06 That junction is a deathtrap :D Maybe 2 or 3 linked timed traffic lights for the traffic on opposite ends of the bus station entrance? 19:30 Then you can keep some crossings
    25:24 YES!! :D
    28:57 2 Stops for the same line? Isn't that a bit weird? Workaround would be to make a 'Ghost' line. Just a bus route with all the stops at places where you want those islands with the least amount of busses possible (change the 'bus' to some worker van or something). Or fiddle with node controller and widths
    36:05 No going straight?
    36:26 Still a deathtrap :P If you hate linked traffic lights so much, you could make a small over- or underpass for left/right traffic.

    Best solution I've seen to this type of problem - underground walkways. A simple X pattern under the intersection will suffice. Pedestrians don't run into each other as much as they walk through each other, once they reach the intersection they can go whichever direction they please, and you can make it a Y pattern (only reaching three entrances/exits) with little effort and still have a walkway or two. No need for bridges. The price is pretty close as well.
    Since your transit area is rather detailed but the other sides of the intersections are not, Y pattern underground walkways would be the most sensible. You can remove almost every road walkway to help traffic flow freely, no pedestrians would be out and things would be smoother. Just a thought.

    That bus terminal looks better than we get in real life, also, some kind of news stand or small sweet shop prop and maybe an extra set of lights near the crossings (because you can't see the crossing in the dark) would just finish the Bus terminal off nicely. to the people that said those barriers wouldn't be in a bus terminal, well they would in Britain, most people use them as benches or to store their rubbish lol. Gotta love the New Ryder assets and props, they just add so much realism to the game, and I love the fact that they have a bus number and destination written on the front. Spectacular looking City, My OCD loves watching you sort traffic problems out, you make it look so easy, So well done and Thanks Biffa for another fantastic and informative episode.

    You may have more traffic success by turning the couplet into more of a divided highway type situation. Would help relieve the traffic coming right into the city smackbang into an intersection

    Following your own advice, I'd say the issue lies in the fact that there is only one entrance and one exit for the entire city. May I suggest a unorthadox ideas of an only exit for the industry, one branching off the tunnel you already have (near the boarder line) and meeting up with the clockwise traffic and the other CC exit would be located just a short ramp above the industry area. Everyone can enter the city in the same place but giving industry a separate out will decrease the traffic across that main hub dramatically.
    I'm loving the details. The RYDE flagpole and detailing are making the nooks and crannies of the game very enjoyable.
    There is dark area where the crossings are on the other end of the bus hub. I wouldn't cross there at night. The boogie man might get you. lol

    To make the small loops more circular with the road tool you can reduce the road segment length from 100m to 5-10m so that the loops will be composed by more segments and will be more circular 👾

    A suggestion on the 6 lane configuration. I like to have the right turn only, then combine the left turn with a straight. This allows the right turns to go during other light cycles. Loving the build, had to go get the bus and tram pack.

    Seems a public restroom once in a while would be good, also more pedestrian bridges over the roads or if possible, under the road is also a great option in places.

    18:00 since the couplet are one ways and you have a park area just north of the station, instead of turning left at the second intersection, and left onto Jackson, put a one way loop just north of the new pedestrian bridges for left turns. Will need to force traffic to take the loop.
    18:39 continue ped overpass on the SE corner over Jackson st to the open corner Wind up with a three corner overpass for pedestrians.

    The Ryde asset looks great. But now there will be updates to a number of DLCs, more buses, trams and roads are on their way, can't wait!!!!

    Strong Recommendation: You should do these things
    #1. Build a central park with a monument
    #2. Keep the Ryde tram (1st option) for a high-tech theme.
    #3. A castle on the hill overlooking the city.
    #4. Build an airport
    #5. A new district called BiffTea Avenue with commercial, residential or industrial buildings.

    You should have lights right next to the pedestrian crossings at the bus hub. At 28:11, the crossings at the back are all dark.

    30:57 You can make a "phantom" bus line that has no buses assigned to it to keep the kerb cuts in place and not delay your active line passengers by having the actual buses stopping at them.

    I think you should add pedestrian underpasses into the bus station then you could get rid of all the crossings on the roads around where you put the six lane roads.

    Put a 3 lane one way road joining the couplets closer to the exit to the city, convert the couplet roads between the new road and the bus station to a 6 lane one way, and the road outside the bus station as a one way, create a squareabout. Should resolve a lot of the crossing traffic delays

    I think simple pedestrian bridge for both directions in the junction would have been the easiest and best solution for the bus stand. I hope the game also implements stairs for pedestrian paths, like why haven't they done that yet?!

    Ryde is an Electric scooter rental company here in norway btw :D most of the major cities here have scooters placed all around the city centers that you can rent with an app on your phone :D

    My thought for the cuplet was to raise or lower the road crossing the cuplet so it doesn't cross over it. Probably a bad idea with how the bus station and other bits in the area are set up, but just separating the roads seemed like a reasonable idea in my head

    Just a thought, try bringing the walking path across from the bus across the road to the grassy area on the side of the bus yard and the intersection at entrance of the bus yard didn't have 'go thru' turned on.

    The double deckers are Enviro 500s that can be found in many countries from Hong Kong to America as well as a small number in the UK. The 2 axel E400 can be found in most parts of the UK.

    Nice additions, and the bus station is improved! But could you please put glass in its roof!! Only the original panel has got glass, the rest are just the metal framework!

    I also think that your entrance to your bus depot should be separated from the cross-over to the cuplet. Maybe there is a cool way where you can tunnel it underneath and let the buses join the cuplet or another service road to join back in? I feel like that junction is always going to give issues…

    Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but at the sightseeing depot, you changed the spawn point for everything EXCEPT the buses.

    Soooooo... the road crossings in the bus station are dark... yay security^^. Further, the railing at the Bus Management building restricts anyone from accessing the bus stops from that building (which I guess I had to go to get a ticket?). Nice update for the transport system though

    You were amazed that the taxi stands actually worked at the bus hub - so you might want to put some near your intercity bus and train station. And why not add a bus line between the two hubs?

    You could add a fake line with only one bus on it for those stops in the station. That way your real lines won't have to stop twice.

    Brill stuff Biffa. I've been in the US for 14 years now and miss the accents of home a lot, so my US wife is delighted by yours, she thinks its full of character, also that lady Febrith Darkstar who I watch in for Skyrim house mods. I've been watching your cities series with envy, I can never get mine looking anywhere near as good.

    One side of the pedestrian crossings in the bus terminal is not very well lit. That could cause a safety issue for your sims that are utilizing at night time.
