Great video. Now, we've seen your tools. How about Jeremiah's? All of us farm husbands would enjoy a tour. Maybe even a special live feed to go over some ideas or to share what we all do to keep things rolling along. Supporting our lovely gardening wives can be a full time job! :)
You along with Kevin from Epic Gardening have inspired me to start making use of my apartment waiting room this spring! I filled a greenstalk with leafy greens, root veggies and snap peas. Also doing grow bags with potatoes and started some tomatoes, peppers, and flowers from seed inside. I'm sure I will learn a lot this first year and appreciate all your content. Your book is gorgeous! Love having a quick reference with inspiration and all your lovely tips! Thanks for being awesome!
Oh my goodness the rooaprons are so affordable! This whole time I have thinking “I really want a rooapron but it’s too expensive for right now” it’s very reasonably priced!
I don't know how I've gotten to the ripe age of 29 without ever knowing a vacuum spray bucket thing exists. This is a game changer for my little apartment patio garden, where even just regular watering is a time consuming chore. THANKYOU.
How refreshing to hear someone be so honest and say I have these things I even created a book but you don’t need it to be successful. Your channel is the reason I started growing. Knowing nothing about gardening I have completely fallen in love. I found the thing that i feel that says it’s me. I play so many roles as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend we forget who and what we want. The information you give is invaluable and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m good at a lot of things but this... this thing called gardening is a passion. My passion. Thanks Jess. 🙏
I fully agree that you don’t have to have tools to make a garden happen. They help. But it isn’t a requirement. I like that apron, I’ll have to look into it. Great information.
A couple years ago I watched your video about your hori hori knife and I was so sold that I bought the exact same one on Amazon. I have been using it almost *daily* since I received it over 2 years ago! And it still looks practically brand new. I literally never use my trowel anymore. I use it for planting, weeding, harvesting, opening bags/boxes, and even pruning. I leave it out in the garden half the time and I’ve never properly cleaned it and it’s still in perfect shape. It’s one of my favorite and most used things and I sing it’s praises to anyone who will listen! I can’t thank you enough for the recommendation.
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple months and asked for a gardening book for Christmas and my hubby ended up getting yours! He had no idea. I’m super enjoying it
ENCOURAGMENT has truly been my most needed tool, especially through my many follies. Thank you so much for providing it. I could use some good manicure and Sun screen advice.
Manicure- Soaking my hands in a bowl of hot water with dawn helps cut the dirt and soften the cuticles. I clean up my nails and then I use dashing diva gel nail polish strips. Those strips last me nearly two weeks even with heavy duty weeding and planting/ animal tending. They still look great at day 10 and just starting to need replacing by 14. 💕
Neutragena Hydro Boost Sunscreen is my absolute favorite. It doesn’t feel like sunscreen, it feels like lotion, and you can usually find it at Costco for a good price. It comes in a blue bottle. And for my face I use Elta MD, I buy it on Amazon. Again, doesn’t feel like sunscreen just feels like moisturizer. It’s a little bit more pricey, but I find that the cheap stuff doesn’t feel good, and if it doesn’t feel good I won’t use it like I should.
My daughters surprised me with a Roo for Christmas. I did send them a pic because I thought it would really suit me, but never expected them to treat me! It’s so fun when my budding gardeners back my crazy gardening spirit!
I have watched your channel for a while and you are an inspiration! We bought a small piece of land in Brazil and I'll practice all the great information that you have shared with us so gracefully. I can't wait. Thank you very much.
My family and I are loving your channel! We are pretty much newbies ❤️ im a homeschooling momma of 5, but I have 4 girls and 1 boy lol. my 7 year old enjoys seeing your boys helping you, as he loves to help me do all the things too.
I found your UA-cam channel a couple days ago and I feel like it’s going to be a binge for me!! I just ordered your book too! Congratulations! Your so encouraging and inspiring as well… I’m working a first garden for myself and it’s been amazingly rewarding! Thank you for so many tips and the endless knowledge!!
I love my hori-hori knife. Great for planting small bulbs and little slips of things. I also love my hoedag. Makes working in my clay based soil easier. I put your book on my Mother's Day list.
All useful tools but the one thing I see that’s most important is that OU plaque 😁 Okie girl born and raised ☺️ God bless and hoping you all have a fabulous growing season!!
The book is a must have! It's informative, encouraging, and beautiful. Best of all, it's a little piece of Jess, in your gardening world. As a lifelong gardener in my mid-sixties, I found Jess' book, a joy to hold in my hands and read. My niece is getting one for Mother's Day. Thank you, Jess, for putting your heart and soul into a gardening tool that will stand the test of time.
Hi Jessica. I love love love this video and you. Your a great teacher of environmental things and the raw great things about life. You speak very well. I agree on everything you talked about and learned some. Keep Enjoying Life 👍🌷🌺🌼🇨🇦
My landscaping friend friend says to put a very layer of Vaseline on the sprayer seal in fall before you store for winter and it will last a lot longer. My boys worked for him for several years and learned a lot
Love the Barebones hori hori, I always recommend the ultimate one because of the pommel on the handle it's nice to have a hammer. People with smaller hands might be interested in the AC Lenord hori hori it is a little bit smaller and lighter.
Is one of your spiritual gifts encouragement? God is using you in a mighty way to encourage bringing people back to His design. I felt the conviction a long time ago, but felt all the excuses why I could not. Well this spring my family and I started our first garden. I had some pretty big lessons and wanted to give up and would watch your videos and be encouraged to keep going. So from one sister in Christ to another thank you❤️
Jess you should try the gloves with hard plastic claws on the fingers. OMGoodness I love them. I generally end up using my hands anyway and these allow you to dig, uproot, etc. 👩🌾💛🦋
I'm loving Jess' book!! The way she explains how nature works makes so much sense to me. You've taken away my fear of failure. If things don't work out this season it's ok, I'm still learning! I take chances now, I started a gardening notebook. Hopefully I'll get to eat some tomatoes from my garden this year so I can see what a real tomato actually tastes like. 😁 Thank you and I hope to see more books from you in the future!
I love Greenstalks! My entire yard is only about 20’ x 10’, so growing space is incredibly limited. I have 4 towers, now, 3 regular and 1 leaf. They’ve increased my growing space so much. Lovely video and great advice.
I have had my large cobra tool for five years. I cannot live without that thing. I use it to plant, break up clods of our clay soil, dig... I can attest to it's ability to thrive even with the most careless of gardeners.
My Barebones Hori Hori is one of my absolute favorite gardening tools. Super well made and definitely worth the money. It will dig out rocks, cut though roots, and slice right through sod with ease. If you're thinking about purchasing one spend the money on the Barebones Hori Hori. It will hold up and last a very long time.
Watching this video while I’m separating and replanting my densely sown tomato seedlings. I’m trying all the things and slowly but surely it’s all working. Thanks for all your tips.
I recently got the GreenStalk leaf and so far I really like it. It’s short like me so it makes it easier to water and move around, it moves easily and you can plant a variety of things in it. I have Cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, beets and several types of flowers. My tomatoes are doing great and have flowers already. The cucumbers look good and the beets planted from seeds are about 2” tall. This is the first time in years we’ve had any kind of garden and so far it’s working out well. Something I noticed is we have BEES this year! We haven’t had bees for maybe 3-4 years but this year they’re back. I’m so happy!
After months of him-hawing over which one I wanted, today was the day! I just ordered my very first Green Stalk planter and used the $10 off code!! Going to transplant our strawberry bed to get it up off the ground! Thank you so much!! 🥰
I bought your book for my daughter, who put me onto your UA-cam channel, and when I asked her how it was going she said good, but bad. Every time she sits to read it she ends up inspired to get out into her garden, so reading the book is taking her longer than she'd planned lol. Thanks for everything you do xox
I'm so excited for you guys for the future i can't wait to follow your new journey soon hehe. My daughters school is being visited by a local farm next week and I'm so excited for her as we don't have animals except for a sausage dog lol. Just want to send you guys blessings for the future 💕
Hi Jess! I love your channel so much! I recently stumbled upon it and have binged so many videos. Also, found some Arkansas Traveler tomato starts and picked up a couple just because of you ☺️ I enjoy your content. Have a great day!
Got my second greenstalk this year. Last years greenstone I left in full sun and my herbs bolted faster so I will be putting them on my new deck this year in partial sun. Gonna do strawberries in the new one!
I won a Hori Hori on an online competition (uk) only the company providing the gift ended up sending me their deluxe box worth like $350 🙈 said I could keep them all! Was over the moon as it was the day before my birthday! So am looking forward to many season ahead of great tools starting this year!
I bought your book 2 weeks ago and it gave me the inspiration to start a small soil bag and grow bag garden outside of my apartment door. I thought I would have to wait for my homestead dream to come true, but I'm learning so much already! Thank you for writing such an amazing book. As a newbie, I didn't feel scared and overwhelmed. Just excited
I’ve wanted a roo apron for years, ever since I first saw it on your channel! Maybe this will be the year I finally buy it. I got the cobra head for Christmas, and I use a green stalk. The rest are great ideas!
I have got your book it's inspiring it's wonderful you did a great job and it's heartwarming for a first-time beginner in gardening I'm super excited to use the tips that you gave in the book thank you Jess you're a beautiful person!!💞🌷✌
Great info! Seeing what the tools are used for helps. I’ll make my own hori tool. A stainless tool steel and synthetic handle material will improve longevity.
I buy baskets from the dollar tree and put plastic bags in them. I poke holes in the bottom of the bags. And I have been growing in them for two years. Every time I amend the soil in the pots, I dump the dirt out and replace the bag. There is so much versatility in gardening.
My pitchfork handle broke off inside the metal neck. So the Wood handle popped out. I was so dissapointed. Until I realized that I was just gifted an excellent dibber. And I know you can buy shovel handles on their own. It's a dibber that's long enough to use without being bent over too much!
My grand angel is home school and part of the curriculum is living things so we got some potting soil and some manure and we fixed up a little pots to grow vegetables out of so now we have our zinnias and I marigolds growing we have a tomato plant and today we planted all of our other seeds. she’s excited when they sprout because she says they’re alive they’re alive and thanks to your inspiration we did it
I came to watch to distract my mind as we had to put our family dog to sleep today. When you sprayed the camera, made me laugh. Thanks. I needed that in my day. As always, love the videos.
I'm so sorry for your loss, genuinely. It takes time to heal but just remember the love you shared. I'm approaching the time I'll likely have to do the same with my 18 yr old cat with kidney disease... it's so tough. Find solace where you can and give yourself mental breaks where you can just "be" without pressures of to do lists and stuff.
@@h.s.6269 thank you for the kind words. I think the hardest part has been our 4 year old asking where his buddy is. It truly is the loss of a family member.
Sorry for your loss of your fur baby. We had to put down our 11 year old yellow lab several months ago. He was by my side though 2 different cancers, and a great friend. And he was so naughty! They're a part of your family. I saw a T-shirt recently with a stick person and a dog. It Said "I want to be the person my dog thinks I am". They're so devoted and enrich our lives don't they. When you're ready get another pet and start new memories.
@@gabbygertie8709 so sorry for your loss as well. Ours was a yellow lab too. She was my husband’s and young son’s shadow. The pain in this loss is real, but we’re so grateful for the memories we have with her. ❤️
Just came upon your videos today.... LOVE them! Thank you for sharing! Looking forward to seeing more of them in the days to come. For now, I'm about to order me some tools. ;)
Just ordered our first GreenStalk using your code! Can't wait to start our first strawberry garden in it this year!! We're also starting our first raised bed vegetable garden this year too! Sooo much to learn but also so excited! Thank you for all of your content! It's helped us so much as brand new gardeners!
Hey Jess, been following you for a year or two now and I love your work! I wanted to offer some constructive feedback on what you said about the pressure sprayer. While I think using it for pesticides is a reasonable use, given that you have a lot of new gardeners following you, I strongly suggest if using it for pesticides, it should be labeled as such. I don't know about in the USA, but in Canada anywhere you purchase the pesticides, they can provide you with additional (or replacement) labels (you will need the registration number of the product). The company manufacturing it should also be able to do this. Many pesticides have dangerous acute health risks and unfortunately those pressure sprayers also can be fun "water guns" to a child or someone who isn't aware of it's contents. There are thousands of poisonings and injuries each year (sometimes fatal) due to improperly stored (and labeled) chemicals. Many ppl don't know that they can get new labels which is helpful not only of using a pressure sprayer like this, but also if the container (or spray nozzle) breaks in the original container.
Thanks for doing this video, i’ve been doing garden for about 12 years and I’ve never heard of this Tool HORI-HORI. I’m now thinking about getting one some come with sheath
"You don't have to have stuff to garden" best statement ever 😊
Really is 👐🏾
I so agree too... amen..
Kitchen spoons work just fine!
Great video. Now, we've seen your tools. How about Jeremiah's? All of us farm husbands would enjoy a tour. Maybe even a special live feed to go over some ideas or to share what we all do to keep things rolling along. Supporting our lovely gardening wives can be a full time job! :)
I've got to get me a Hori Hori so that I can be a garden warrior. 😊
I just got one a month ago, soooooo worth it!!!!
Hubby gifted me one for birthday a couple weeks ago and I've already used it a few times and now it's my favorite tool
Jess, maybe you could partner with roo apron to have a R&R quote embroidered on it. Would so buy it! After all I bought the clyders planner for it 😂
This is a great idea!
This would be really cool!

"Turn your waiting room into a classroom". I'm using that and appreciate you throwing it out there. This video was full of encouragement. Thank you

I’m sitting in my garden right now with my Hori Hori from Barebones..... BEST TOOL EVER MADE!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I fully agree that you don’t have to have tools to make a garden happen. They help. But it isn’t a requirement. I like that apron, I’ll have to look into it. Great information.
I started reading Jess' book. Does anyone else hear her voice reading it to you?
I do too...and there are ton of Jess’s words that belong on a R&R sticker...so inspiring !!
Yes lol
I think Jess should record her voice doing an audio book version!
Definetely and it is so great feeling. And when I finish and put it down I bless myself😇🙂
Yes!!!! I just told a friend that!

The Cobra Head! I know the family and its a great company!
Thank you Jess!
I got one for Christmas. I believe I saw it in the baker creek catalog. Haven’t used it yet, but you can tell that it is high quality!
@@Alexis_9339 met the family at the Chicago flower show back in 2008. Great folks and amazing product. I like the long handled one!🙏😊

He's one of the sweetest looking dogs I've ever seen
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple months and asked for a gardening book for Christmas and my hubby ended up getting yours! He had no idea. I’m super enjoying it
I love my Hori Hori. If I was only allowed one garden tool for weeding and planting, it would be the Hori Hori for sure.
ENCOURAGMENT has truly been my most needed tool, especially through my many follies. Thank you so much for providing it. I could use some good manicure and Sun screen advice.

So useful but also reassuring that I don't need lots of gadgets to make a beautiful space. :)
Great advice! I love watching Bear enjoy his day behind you. Such a loyal boy 😍
Sending this to the hubs right now 😍😂 Thanks!
My daughter walked in the other day and said she’s my favorite I like her talking about your show!
Love Love Love Your Book!!! Reading it is like having a full on conversation with Jess!
Me too .. mine just arrived last week.❤️
I love my hori-hori knife. Great for planting small bulbs and little slips of things. I also love my hoedag. Makes working in my clay based soil easier.
I put your book on my Mother's Day list.

I went and bought the lard Cobra head weeder and I have to say that it is by far the best garden tool I have ever used! you all must buy one!
I got my green stalk last year in august so I didn't plant it. I'll get to use it this year. 💚

I thought about the Roo Apron for about a week and finally ordered myself one through your link, thanks for the suggestion!
You just want people to get their hands in the dirt which I think is the very best advice ever.
My Fisker hori hori broke where the handle meats the blade after 2 years. I ordered a barebones one and it is awesome, very heavy duty.
Dang! Woke up to more snow😒 but loving the hope of spring. Thank you for the content. It’s always such a delight.

I got my book!!! Love all the pics in it!!!
It's helped us so much as brand new gardeners!
thanks for sharing! I will add some of these tools to my wish list. I love your new book
Great video! Thank you. Now I know what I can ask for for Mother's day!😊
Wow those are some neat tools! We will have to look into those!
The book is fabulous. Well written and the photos are spectacular ! If you not have it yet, be sure to get it!!
Thanks for doing this video, i’ve been doing garden for about 12 years and I’ve never heard of this Tool HORI-HORI. I’m now thinking about getting one some come with sheath
