I have been using the Greenstalk planters since last summer and I have a watering tip. I hate lifting a 5 gallon bucket to water. So I plug the center hole in the top reservoir with a reusable wine bottle stopper. Then I fill the reservoir with the garden hose. When the water reaches the fill line I remove the wine stopper and let the reservoir empty. This is easier for me.
You can also use the little black cap that comes with your Greenstalk....it is meant to go over the drain spout on the bottom. I will put that over the center hole and then remove it as stated, once it gets to the level line I need
One of my tricks for my permanent containers is to pick up earthworms after a rainstorm and distribute them into my pots. It's a great way to help keep the soil from compacting and add nutrients back into the soil.
I was thinking about trying to introduce some worms into mine when I get them... Do you find that they die off? I would love to have a way to keep them going without investing in a GardenTowerProject2 planter...
I just got my first Greenstalk and am nearly ready to plant my starts...which I grew from seed! I am a 52-year old baby gardener and am starting where I am!
Thank you for mentioning the wheelchair gardeners. My mom is a gardener, and she uses a wheelchair. Container gardening is her hobby that keeps her occupied all summer and I think I've just decided on her Christmas gift 😉
The Rusted Gardener suggested if you are worried about a wind storm, to water the green stalk it gives it extra weight to help keep if from falling over.
I just wanted to add, Greenstalk does offer a military discount. I was hesitant in investing a lot of money into their Grow it all bundle to share with family, but their kindness in offering a homesteading military family a discount is now a no brainer. Thank you for your review Jess!
Thanks for putting that out there! We’re a military family stationed at Bragg - I just started our home garden since moving off-post, but this would be great for base housing! I might get one for greens & other container-friendly produce since we are a plant based family 💚 Thanks for sharing!!
Well thank you all for your service! My hubby's going on 16 years in the Air Force. LOTS of moving and hoping we'll at least raise our 3 little ones at our current home. We have loads of potential for all kinds of gardening. Greenstalk will just add more variety! Enjoy and good luck with everything!
@@SeededandRooted most coupon codes are $10 off. When I bought my first ones I bought 2 so the % off military discount was better. I think if she’s buying just one on sale it’s about the same
I purchased my first one 2 months ago and I love it. It's filled with herbs, strawberries, peas and calendulas. I love it. So easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space on my deck.
I stopped this video as soon as you said less than $100. Ordered my second one because the price was what I paid for the first one. I bought that the year you recorded assembling the black one. I love mine and recommend it!
Purchased as a thank you for friends watching our home & pets while we are on my Bucket List roadtrip. She is an avid Gardner but with very little space and mostly containers only. I think she will be SO thrilled with this but would never spend the money on herself. This family will absolutely refuse any monetary compensation from us but I think she will go bonkers for this. Thank you again for sharing. God Bless
Hey Jess...any plants or cuttings you want to take with you, you could move them in the greenstalk and transplant them when you get there! Ha! You can grow melons and cucumbers on them and set them by a fence and let them attach to it and grow.
@@queenizzy01 that was exactly my thought! I love this family and their love of the garden and the thirst for knowledge, and joy in trying new things. And of course so thankful that we get to learn from it all.
OMGOSH!!! I thought no one spent as much time researching a product before buying it as I do! I guess I was wrong. Thanks for making me realize I'm not alone 🙂
You just make me so happy listening to you talk about things you are passionate about! Thank you for making me feel better today with your uplifting smile and words.
Last year I planted 3 successions of bush beans in my Greenstalk. It was sooooo easy to pick them and the plants were very prolific even with two plants per pocket. I planted the next succession beans a week or so before I needed to cut the older plants out.
I am really considering one for strawberries and one for leafy greens. I had a strawberry plant in a small pot that I brought into my garage over winter here in NC and didnt do much with it, but it survived all winter and is already putting out strawberries now. Made me think maybe I could get one of these and move it into my garage over winter and roll it outside in the warm afternoons and maybe keep getting strawberries all year long. Same with the leafy greens.
Can’t praise this company enough!! Green stalk truly care about their customers. They have aFacebook page and they, the family, will jump on to answer questions and interact. They just don’t sell then forget ya. Can you tell how happy I am😌
I keep telling myself I don’t need a Greenstalk but you have officially convinced me I need one 🤣 I think that’s what I’ll ask for for Mother’s Day. ☺️ ~Kristin
I just ordered mine with Jill's discount from her video and received mine today. Might order more for my daughter who is trying to buy a home with a yard so she can have a dog and grow a garden. Amazing to see her absorb my love of gardening and want to grow her own food as well.
Ordered one for myself! I’ve been waiting for it to get under $100 and your code did that!!! Just informed my children they gave me that for Mother’s Day!!! I have a very small knock off one with strawberries and when I set that up I told Matt “I really want a green stalk” and look here I am getting one ❤️❤️ Thanks Jess!!
I missed the code but ]the original is out of stock and the new one the cheapest is $129 plus $11 shipping. I saw the Mr. Stacky is half this price and made in USA so trying to decide if this is worth he double cost ? I def love this and love these videos! So glad I found this channel!
Well Jess I kept playing your greenstalk videos while crocheting or doing the dishes or picking up the toddler tornado and the husband got me 2 of the 7 tier leafs for Valentine's Day.
Dammit Jess. I got one. I’ve been eyeing them for YEARS and well, if it’s something you love, I know I will too! I grow exclusively in containers so it’s perfect
You are such a treasure my sweet friend! You are so blessed with the gifts of teaching, encouraging and nurturing! Thanks for sharing your life, and letting everyone into your green classroom!😊
Thank you Jess for this review....awesome planters for senior citizens, me being one of them. I use mine for my strawberries. It's an excellent berry grower and keeps the berries hanging from the side and no bugs of any kind. The birds finally realized they had a berry bar, lol, but netting took care of that right away! Now, we did add three more of the five tier and planted more strawberry plants just two weeks ago. Looking forward to that harvest. I use just one five tier to plant veggies seed and then transplant the seedlings to the raised gardens or to the very tall planters. I can't bend down because of my back, so these methods have extended my garden time. I always feel the best in my garden. GOD bless you Jess and thank you for all your videos.
I just ordered one two days ago, good timing!!!! I'm so excited to get started, and stick my tongue out at the slugs here in the pacific northwest! - Fluffy Bloomers
I bought the original 5-tier over the winter and love what it’s done so far with strawberries, lettuce and herbs. This video is super helpful especially since you have used them for a few years now. There were a lot of videos released by gardeners on UA-cam when they first came out (GS was thorough with their promo distributions!) but very few from those with longer term experience. Thanks, Jess!
I just told my hubby next sale I want to get one. I got a cheap version and it stinks lol. It doesn’t have the watering mechanism so it’s a pain to water and it’s much smaller. I can’t wait!!
I dont believe it!!!! My husband did buy me two of these planters, but he also bought some seeds and the fertilizer that you use!!! I think I will move him back into the house from the garage...just kidding..I am sooooo blessed!!!! Thank you!!!
Jesse, I ordered one a year ago and loved it so much, I bought one for my daughter for her birthday and a new “leaf” greenstalk for me! I live I. A small RV community and my lot is entirely covered with pavers. I had my husband build me two raised beds for behind my Park Model and am having a ball with zucchini, lettuce, green beans, basil, squash etc.! I love my “lower 40”( the back of my house). I have all my pollinator, butterfly and hummingbird attracting flowers in the “upper40” (front of my house) in pots....loving my little homestead! Thank you for encouraging us “newbies”. Please list the soil you use and the fertilizer.
Bought my first 5 tier this year, then bought a 3 tier, combined them so I now have two 4 tiered greenstalks. Got herbs, lettuce, chard, strawberries and spinach in both! Love them! Thanks for your extensive review! So happy to have found your channel! 💖
What a great solution for differently abled people and those who don’t have land! I personally wouldn’t purchase one since plastic never goes away but if I was stuck with a patio, I’d be tempted!
I bought the greenstalk leaf planter this year. My strawberries are doing great. I had a bed of naturalized strawberries that invasively spread everywhere. I was at the point last year that I wanted to pull them all up and compost them. I decided to try the leaf planter in order to get strawberries, and contain them easily.
Oh #RootsToRefugeFarm, when I ordered 2 last fall for 2023 I for got to put in #Roots10! But no mater what my husband and I are having a Blast with our 2023 Crop so far, but the Fish Fertilizer ~~~~ LOL Big Mistake only do in the late night or early am before we want to enjoy our deck! Love you Jess and your amazing family and Team!!
We just moved to a new property that has been neglected for many years. I sadly decided that this year would have to be dedicated to preparation, cleaning, amending the soil, etc. My lovely husband saw this video and ordered me a Greenstalk for Mother's Day so now I can have a small garden right away. It arrived yesterday and I can't wait to plant it. I love watching your videos and look forward to following your upcoming adventures. So thank you for inspiring him to buy this for me and for sharing your life and lovely family with us.
To say that I wish I could order here in Canada🇨🇦 is an understatement. I'm so impressed by this review! Wow, the black one you've had for 3yrs and the colour hasn't faded!!
just bought two to be able to garden during a move. I am also moving and starting my new farm from scratch. You are such an inspiration in so many ways. Thank you!
Ordered a green stalk last week. I live in a condo and have a small patio to grow on. Have had many individual planters in the past but have been limited in how much I can plant. Looking forward to adding variety to my “garden” again ( had a decent size garden when I had my house).
👋Hi from Kiowa, CO!! My Greenstalk goes through our prairie winds just fine out here too👌. Though during the worst of storms, I have added water to make it heavier (just in case).🙂
Thanks for this review video. I just purchased my first green stalk. Growing up on a small 100 acre farm I miss our 3 acre garden. I am excited to be able to grow my own produce. Your review was very helpful! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessing’s

If I had one of these, I would fill it with ever-bearing/day neutral strawberries. Instant snack tower. 😁
awww dang, Jess! Now I gotta ' buy one! I do your overwintered soil bags every year but, now i can grow turtle food for buddy a member of my church's turtle! He will only eat Green Romaine . I love my Greenstalk! I have fibromyalgia and an auto-immune disease, and this has made gardening much easier for me. I have a small 12 X 14 garden, and it can be difficult for me to keep up with it. My Greenstalk is easy to upkeep, and I’m looking forward to an easy harvest from it as well. I’ve invested in a few things this year to make gardening easier for me, and this is one of my best purchases.
You just helped me make my decision!! I too have fibromyalgia and auto-immune disease. I have a large garden but now realizing body can't do it, and I need food!!! Thank you
If I could get a 5-tier one at a UK franchise outlet, I’d sow the top two tiers with carrots (out of carrot fly range). It’s handy to grab the odd carrot for a salad or dip. 😃
@@angeladebruhl3510 Yes. He did. I usually grow in pots on my BbQ serving table! Need to keep them at least 18” above ground. I don’t grow a huge harvest. Just succession sow all year. 🙂
just wanted to let you know how my daughter and myself are very appreciative of you letting your subscribers know when Green Stalk was having a sale. we were able to buy 2 green stalks because of you. Love you and your family. thank you again
Thanks for this great review! I wasn’t ready to swallow the price of the green stalk and bought a different product, but it is great bc it has a pvc support in the center which I used to feed an irrigation tube through to the top. It is connected to a solar pump and timer and fed from a five gallon bucket. I’ve got some pretty nasturtiums on top, and my collards in the other four tiers. Love it!
This is a great review, Jess, and so informative. I bought the Greenstalk Leaf a while back, and now I think I might want to get the original, too! Especially since I live in an apartment, and am not having great success at buying a house in the country in this crazy hot market. I loved seeing how wild and abundant your mom's Greenstalk planter is. Amazing!
Just got a greenstalk! I know I'm late to the game, but i have 5 acres and that keeps me busy for sure. Loved this versatile, informative video. New follower!
I just received my 1st Greenstalk today!! As well as a Mr. Stacky & a couple beautiful planters for my birthday. I am so excited to get started! I had a beautiful garden and had to give it up with a move so I am very happy to restart my gardening patio style.
I've had a greenstalk for 3 years, IIRC, on my smallish apartment balcony and it is really ideals as it maximizes my very limited growing space. I have it on a spinner (and a timer controlled motor to get sun on the whole planter every day). I have never been so ambitious as to try growing tomatoes. I grow lettuces and small veggies in mine. I really love that each pocket is separate so I can grow a different plant in each. I have mint in one of my pockets and it is safely contained while I previously had mint take over a 7' window box.
I just ordered my second greenstalk and didnt know about your discount code - dang it! I'm growing squash in my second one and havent decided on other stuff. My first one I have bush beans, lemon balm, carrots, and strawberries! Can't wait to harvest.
Finally took the plunge. Purchased a set of original 5 tier utilizing their Black Friday sale. Shipping to Hawaii is outrageous, but I could rationalize the cost with the additional 10% and $10 offset half the shipping? Thank you for the wealth of information ❤❤❤
My son bought one for me for Mother's day. I am beyond thrilled. I still have 2 weeks before I can plant it. It is still cold in the northern part of Idaho.
Because of a post you did a couple of months ago, I ordered a green stalk and I really like it! It’s in my garden and just recently went through about 40 mph winds and stayed upright! I also like the company. Thanks for introducing these to your viewers!
You make me want to be a better gardener! I am buying the $8 pools and I think I am going to love them but one of these would be nice to. I am trying to garden for my sanity to find peace and be still!
You could surround the greenstalk with you pig fencing either in a circle around it or over the top of it and down and let the beans, cucumbers etc. drape down the pig fencing and it would be like a living louse that you walk into with the greenstalk in the middle.
I first learned about the Greenstalk tower a few weeks ago. I immediately decided that this was something I would love. When my family asked for some Mother’s Day ideas, this was on the list. This video was so informative. I am growing my first real garden this year and I’m doing it in containers. So far, it’s going good and I’ve learning so much via UA-cam. Love your channel💕.
I bought 2 ..one original and one leaf and mixed them so I can share with my dear friend.. she's elderly and not able to do a whole lot physically..but wants her own veggies .. she'll be able to have 3 original in the bottom for root veggies and the rest other veggies like beans and lettuces.. hopefully all will be well...lol
OH an additional BLESSING- It’s helpful for a wheelchair victim and my girlfriend neighbor has just been yearning to garden. All this is astonishing. She was badly hurt in a car accident in late December and now will be able to ambulate a bit this is so wonderful this is God-given thank you

you just made up my mind! There is another Mother's Day sale on and I was contemplating.... and look, there was your review video!!! Thanks!!!!!
A little in state pride knowing this is a Tennessee company.
You sold me...I’ve been debating getting one. Your review did it for me.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hope you enjoy it!
I live in Colorado, have had 80mph winds and my greenstalk is STILL standing!! I am so impressed with them. I am about to order more.
👋Hi from Kiowa, CO!! My Greenstalk goes through our prairie winds just fine out here too👌. Though during the worst of storms, I have added water to make it heavier (just in case).🙂
I’m assuming you don’t have the wheel base in it.
I bought my GreenStalk for Mother’s Day with your coupon code for the past 2 years can’t wait for this year’s sale! 😍 💗 🥰 thanks!
When is the sale?
Thanks for this review video. I just purchased my first green stalk. Growing up on a small 100 acre farm I miss our 3 acre garden. I am excited to be able to grow my own produce. Your review was very helpful! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessing’s
If I had one of these, I would fill it with ever-bearing/day neutral strawberries. Instant snack tower. 😁
I may move my strawberries to my new original Greenstalk. The squirrel will have a harder time seeing and grabbing my berries.
Easy to cover in netting too!
awww dang, Jess! Now I gotta ' buy one! I do your overwintered soil bags every year but, now i can grow turtle food for buddy a member of my church's turtle! He will only eat Green Romaine . "Blessings of Bounty and May Your Gardens and your Life always Bring You Joy, Inspiration and Abundance!" - Hope( & Mark)!💖🦋🌻
Thank you
@@aprilbrimmer8121 Yay! Glad I helped, and I hope you love yours as much as I do.
If I could get a 5-tier one at a UK franchise outlet, I’d sow the top two tiers with carrots (out of carrot fly range). It’s handy to grab the odd carrot for a salad or dip. 😃
I think I heard Charles Dowding talk about carrot flies?
Love it!
I ordered my sister one today and received 10.00 off the price using ROOTS10 code. Thanks so much. It was a present for “just being my sister”. ❤️
Amazing!
Thank you for addressing the ability for wheelchair bound to be able to use these. Exactly what I was looking at it for!
Bought my first one based on this review...thanks!
Just got a greenstalk! I know I'm late to the game, but i have 5 acres and that keeps me busy for sure. Loved this versatile, informative video. New follower!
This company is in my home town so I love being able to support a local business ❤️❤️
I just received my 1st Greenstalk today!! As well as a Mr. Stacky & a couple beautiful planters for my birthday. I am so excited to get started! I had a beautiful garden and had to give it up with a move so I am very happy to restart my gardening patio style.
We have very strong winds in northern South Dakota constantly and my Greenstalk has never been knocked over. I love mine!
Thank you for explaining the functionality of the green stalk. I really wanted a reputable person for reviews.
My son bought one for me for Mother's day. I am beyond thrilled. I still have 2 weeks before I can plant it. It is still cold in the northern part of Idaho.
I have been using my greenstalk for 3 yrs. I love them.
Real food really does come dirty! I love it! Brilliant video, thanks!
I've just ordered a Greenstalk.
One of my social media groups just found your page recently and I never thought to share your stuff there. You're inspiring us all.
Thank you for telling me that!
I wish I could send you a picture of my GreenStalk planted with petunias. It was gorgeous this past summer.
Because of a post you did a couple of months ago, I ordered a green stalk and I really like it! It’s in my garden and just recently went through about 40 mph winds and stayed upright! I also like the company. Thanks for introducing these to your viewers!
Thank you. I‘ve wanted one for strawberries for a while. Seeing yours and all of the plants your mom has have inspired me to want a few more.
I got a 5 tier original a 7 tier leaf for early mother's day and I am so stoked!
I definitely want to get some movers!
You make me want to be a better gardener! I am buying the $8 pools and I think I am going to love them but one of these would be nice to. I am trying to garden for my sanity to find peace and be still!
Totally awesome that Greenstalk is made with Pride in the USA.
You could surround the greenstalk with you pig fencing either in a circle around it or over the top of it and down and let the beans, cucumbers etc. drape down the pig fencing and it would be like a living louse that you walk into with the greenstalk in the middle.
Best sales pitch yet. Everyone has been showing their Green Stalks recently. I might just have to pick one up.
Just checked the web site. Everything is on back order.
Just filled mine with soil yesterday. I'm 4'11 7 tear is taller than me. I did have to have hubby help me. Can't wait to get it all planted.
My goodness This is so interesting. A teaching moment for sure. I’m a rural person in my eighty-first year and I learned from you today. Thanks, Jess.
OH an additional BLESSING- It’s helpful for a wheelchair victim and my girlfriend neighbor has just been yearning to garden. All this is astonishing. She was badly hurt in a car accident in late December and now will be able to ambulate a bit this is so wonderful this is God-given thank you
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I am so excited. Bought 2 for myself and one for my mother in law for mothers day. I am so stinking excited!!!!
Score! I’ve been wanting a green stalk for a VERY long time! I ordered the one on sale with your $10 discount code PLUS I applied for Pay Pal pay later & got ANOTHER $20 off! Hot dog! Will pay it all off before the 6mo no interest deal ends. Like in a couple weeks ;)
