Thanks Gash. Always appreciate your feedback mate! As you know we take in a lot from our customers and it's why we make so many upgrades and changes to our products. Thanks heaps for making the video.
Ha I was pressure transferring a Munich Lager while watching this video. Cheers Gash! Nothing better for filling in time watching the transfer hose than a quality clip from you mate 👍
Not seeing this diversion plate become commercially available yet, I bought a sheet of thin stainless steel and was about to begin fabricating my own when I realized that there is a problem (IMO) with the plate that you showed. By attaching the diversion plate to the false bottom, it is always there - not just when mashing/sparging but also during the boil. I really don't think we want it in place during the boil, as it will greatly restrict circulation of the wart and transfer of the heat from the element through the wort. What we should do instead is attach the diversion plate just below the bottom screen of the malt pipe, so that it only diverts the downward flow from the malt pipe and is completely out of the picture during our boil. I hope that makes sense?
I appreciate your videos very much. I have been brewing for almost two decades and your videos on the Brewzilla helped me make an informed decision to move to the Brewzilla Gen4 from 3V propane system. I am getting ready to make a diversion plate. Do you have any update on the use of the diversion plate without the added temp probe? My preretirement profession is in Chem. Engineering. Your diversion plate is a no-brainer for good flow in the mash.
Sorry mate I'm on holidays been a bit slack with answering, the combination on that plate and tuning in the PID settings really helps, along with a traditional grain crush, as in not too fine, it's not brew in a bag as some suggest. Don't use a credit card or whatever to set your mill. Etc.. cheers!
Last couple of brews I've had issues with channelling of wort straight down the drain hole resulting in mashing way below targe temperature. Hopefully this will eliminate that problem
Hey Gavin, I got the 65L and after 4 brews (2 30L and 2 60L) I'm still having big temperature variations, 3C above target temp, then I stir and it goes down quickly. During mashout I noticed that the temp on the top of the grains is much lower then the temp in the sensor. I hope the diversion plate helps to keep the temp constant. Luckly they are selling it on Ali Express, as I don't live in AU
Found the same thing with my 35 gen4 in first dry trial I bent the false bottom badly, yet I agree it removes easier after brewing, wish kegland put this in the instructions
if you were so lucky someone was offering you the brewz.4 or the G40 as a gift - which would you choose? (yes I'm in that situation) sorry if I wrote this one the wrong video ..brewing brought me to the internet , I have no clue what I'm doing yet online ;)
I would chose the G40 over the brewzilla 35L, but if I had 15amp, like I do, I would chose the brewzilla 65L over the G40.. The G40 also runs way better on 15amp. Cheers! (in Australia)

Awesome reaction! Is this available somewhere? Will this be included with new units?

If you had to choose one. Would you go with the plate or the RAPT BT thermometer?

Its all about the flow and the PID settings, when you stir you help the flow of wort, have you tried different PID settings? Cheers!
Move back to Sydney and I’ll come over 🍻

Yeah it was bloody hard to get out
Can't wait to get one of these diversion plates
They can really help in some circumstances! Cheers!
Great video...the plate is a great solution too.
Thanks mate!
Thanks mate great to know.
No problem 👍
Thanks Gash. Can you give the dimensions of this plate forBrewzilla Gen 4 - 65L?
4:40 my probe reads upto 10 degrees C higher than my top and pumped liquid which is had to work with....
wonder if this will fix my problem ?
It will help, but sounds like you need to tune in the PID and play with pump speed. Cheers!
@@HomeBrewNetwork I have the same problem. What is PID?
cheers Gash!
Thanks mate
on my way cheers
How does the fals bottom and the diversion plate affect the heating or boiling prossess?

They haven't officially released the plate here yet, but its a very simple thing, so I'm sure once it's out it will ship everywhere fast. Cheers!

Yes you do lol Cheers!
Does the malt pipe have a false bottom?
Yes, a removable disk.
Shouldn´t the plate be called dispersion plate?
I've never given two hoots what things are called, as long as I understand how and why they work, that does me hahaha Cheers!
