Yeah, she does that often, that's what brought me here. She stated numerous times that "There's something seriously wrong with women who don't want sex," and that "they aren't normal." According to her if you don't want sex, even if you've been sexually assaulted, then you're the problem, and somethings mentally wrong with you, not the person or people who did it to you. Pro-lifers claim to care about the kids but don't care about the kids that are ACTUALLY here. Adoption centers are full and underfunded as it is so banning abortion is gonna do more harm than good for these "unwanted" kids. And the stats on them on what happens afterwards when they aren't adopted are horrific! Because these places also don't provide these kids with proper resources, care, etc. to be independent, secure, financially stable citizens and literally throw them into the wild. Not to mention the mental damage that happens to the kids who get passed from house to house. But no let's keep funding the military--anything but anything that actually helps the alive children, education, healthcare, these centers/foster care systems, etc. Let's force people to have kids they do not want!
We here in America can confirm that all of our parents are responsible. Not at all taxing CPS and social services to their very limits, allowing actual children to slip through the cracks and die.

Even healthy pregnancies are fucking brutal. At least for humans. The fetus demands for so much energy to grow its brain that it hijacks it’s mother’s circulatory system. That’s why high blood pressure and diabetes can develop during pregnancy. That’s also why periods are a thing. To make sure that no unwanted embryo (rejected by the body) slips through the cracks because it’s dangerous otherwise. The dna of the child can also be found in the mother’s brain for years after birth. It’s crazy shit. Fetuses are not very innocent lol. If you have a good birth mother, thank them for letting you take over their body for a bit.

I'd also like to note that pregnancies can still occur when practicing safe sex. Sure condoms do greatly decrease the risk of getting pregnant but they're not 100% effective. I think that often gets overlooked in the discourse (with people who seek abortions sometimes being labeled as "irresponsible") and just wanted to highlight that nuance here

I agree! I think even just the smallest thing like those banners can help so much queer kids out because they know they’re not alone. Dont get me wrong, love Ethan and agree with him that laws and regulations would be more important, but even the banners, flags, and integrating lgbtq topics into history would be very important. I would have loved that when I was younger so I wouldn’t think I’m alone and have the words and terms to express how I feel.

I like how the majority of pro-lifers when talking about abortion make it seem like a decision as simple as deciding whether or not you want to go to the movies. The decision to have an abortion is devastating and extremely painful- it’s not something anyone takes lightly
I do just want to add that the decision to have an abortion is NOT always “extremely painful” or “devastating” For some yes absolutely, for others its the decision of a simple medical procedure. I would argue for some that the idea of being forced to have a child they aren’t ready for/dont want, is more devastating than going thru with an abortion.
But yes always something that no one takes lightly.

It's never a pleasant experience, not something someone does for fun, or on a whim, or instead of contraception, but I agree with commenters above that we shouldn't pander to the pro-lifers by making abortion seem scary and awful.

The whole “avoiding responsibility” argument is so ridiculous. I currently have sole custody of my three year old daughter that was the product of an older man that groomed me as a teenager, sabotaged my birth control, and forcefully got me pregnant. I escaped and got a restraining order when I had my daughter. He doesn’t face ANY consequences (trust me, I tried) and doesn’t pay child support. I am 100% financially, emotionally, and physically responsible for something I never consented to and was manipulated into. Also the systematic supports for single/young parents are so lacking so don’t even pretend that’s adequate.

The worst part is the severe ptsd from the situation and everything recently with roe and Mother’s Day has been super retraumatizing. It breaks my heart when I have severe panic/ptsd attacks and she sees it or have to take her to my mom’s because I’m overwhelmed and can barely care for myself (I’m lucky to have my mom but have a complicated relationship with her) and she knows mommy is “sick” and “sad” a lot and really struggled with the concept of who and what a dad is and where hers was when she started going to daycare and seeing other kids with dads

Conservatives saying "abortion is about avoiding responsibility" isn't just disgusting but objectively _wrong_ for so many reasons. If a woman is not a parent, she has no children, then she is only responsible for herself, her own body. So getting an abortion isn't an irresponsible act for that reason. On top of that, if a woman is not healthy enough to carry a pregnancy to term (as is my case, I have spinal injury that would severely impact my ability to do that) then trying to do so would be the irresponsible thing to do, it would be irresponsible for her health.

She's forgetting about postmenopausal women and women with fertility issues. So saying "people who can get pregnant" is more specific, more accurate, and more inclusive. When you're saying something that does not apply to all women but DOES apply to all people who can get pregnant, it is not incorrect to say "people who can get pregnant" rather than "women." I'm not here to argue the existence of trans people. They exist. There are people who identify as trans, refusing to acknowledge that doesn't make them go away.

That’s fine and all but people get offended by those terms all the time. No one wants to be reduced to what their body can do. When one is about to give birth they’re not just an incubating machine they are a parent. For most that means mom. You should respect that people want to be called that just like some prefer different pronouns. If you called random women around the world chest feeder, pregnant person, or any other phrase that reduces them to their uterus they would think you come from a backwards society where women are oppressed.
