    Great video and set up. It looks like you have most of needs covered. Some of the things that were missing for me are a good wood saw or axe. I like the Bahco Laplander or Silky saws. I didn't see any navigation tools other than maps. A good compass and a good backup are obvious but also a write in the rain note book, pens, sharpie, pace count beads and UTM Grid Readers can be a lot of help. Eye protection is also very import so I always carry sunglasses and safety glasses. I also have a pair of military goggles. We can have dust storms were I live so they're important to me... you may not need them in your situation. Also, again for me, we have a lot of mosquitoes here as well so a bug net is also a must. They are very lightweight and compact so they're not a problem to pack. Again...Great kit and thanks for sharing.

    Great kit mate,the only thing I would add is few fen traps (yes I know you're survival kit will have snare wire) but they are great for small game

      Ive added some wooden rat traps since the video. but lightweight pre built traps are a good idea.

    I like your Kit. Would you need a small hand saw to cut wood?? Thank you . Have a Good Day.

      Charles I can do. In my woods bag I always bring a folding saw but never seen to use them. Thanks for watching.

    Just a quick Point of note, the Thing about the baofeng as comms, (i have the gt3tp among others, i made the mistake of buying different models for family members and they have different charger bases and batteries btw) you need to take the charging base with you even if you have the car charger. There are some options to use a aa or aaa pack to replace the factory battery with that you might want to look into. Or just buy another base to keep in the bag so you can charge from the solar panel.

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  7 років тому +1

      Yeah I can bring the base or buy extensions for it. I had it fully charged and kept in the shed and the battery on its own lasted way over a month. Thanks for the feedback.

    Nice bag thanks for sharing. I would want to add extra socks. There's nothing worse than wet feet if you are on the move. I would also want a blanket of some sort. Also you said you had maps but do you have a compass ? What about pen and paper?
    Best of luck to you. Thanks for sharing your bag. Crystal

      Crystal 72 Hey Crystal. Yeah I have those write in the rain books but never used them. I have a basic compass. I usually have a wool blanket. Not sure why I didn't it. Yes extra socks and pants. Thanks for watching.

    I'm having a real issue with bug out bags lately, if it's for getting you from a-b in a crisis then really most things are not needed in your kit (and the same with mine). Such a grey line between bug out and inch bag. Not sure if you mentioned them (some may have been bundled in with other items) but a single skin steel canteen and multi tool would be helpful. Also duct tape, vaseline and a hatche, I have an awesome one for about £8 from Rolson off ebay. If it is an a-b bag why not ditch the cooking gear and use some flameless ration heaters? I'm not sure where you're based either but depending on where you are getting to have you thought of adding kit on to a bike? As you said though everyone's needs are different so really depends what your aim would be. I know with family in tow it'd be very mentally stressful on top of the situation. One thing I would say though, if you get to your bug out location and after 3 days or so of food need to move on to eating every slug, snail, root etc to stay alive you may wanna shoot yourself. Get a small survival seed bank and throw that in plus take a bag of potatoes along. Sorry I could rabble on forever :)

      +David Cann Hard to say where I would go now. The ex keeps moving with the kids. If I had I'd hit the abandoned places I know. Think with bug out bags they always start heavy but will get lighter. Things get used, stuff get traded etc. Yeah loads you can add and take away. There never is a set bag. It's more option based. You can get 10 bags and have different setups. Plus some people don't have money so have to do a budget option.

    • @davidcann6021
      @davidcann6021 7 років тому +1

      Sounds like it'd be a bit of a pain, I guess you can only assess what is in the particular area. I've got a good idea as to where I would go. It's a shame there's no one bag fits all but even with the bags I have if there's time i'd swap things round before having to go.

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  7 років тому

      +David Cann yeah even stuff like seasons and weather matter. Think more of you have the 10 c of survival as a basic then food, water and seasonal stuff.

    Whats the brand and type of the bag and side bags

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  5 років тому

      Sean Joyce that is a modded lk35 bag. You can get them cheap from army surplus shops. I added 2 plc side pouches to it do adds another 20litres and you can take them off.

  • @BASHADweller
    @BASHADweller 7 років тому +1

    Shit!
    Only joking, dry your eyes! Good setup mate. I like the mods you made to the bag. I totally agree with you about the bow and slingshot, definitely a must for me. Have you thought about adding a steal trap or two like the 110 conibear (body grip)? They're cheap enough to buy and not too bulky and are reusable, they will add a little weight to your overall kit but in my opinion worth it. Thanks for sharing. Atb Shaun

    • @prepperinthewoods
      @prepperinthewoods  7 років тому +3

      Yeah, even large rat spring traps would be good for squirrels or the like. I can make traps myself but that would be better time wise. The reason I said about saying don't just say its shit is I get grief in my vids about how "legal" some of my kit is. But to each their own. Thanks for watching.

    • @BASHADweller
      @BASHADweller 7 років тому +2

      I thought as much. I wouldn't even give them the time of day mate. Probably never spent a night in the woods in their life. Nothing wrong with being prepared, nothing is going to be "illegal" if everything goes to pot. Atb Shaun
