- In this album, Mary Black sings more contemporary ballads and songs with thoughtful insights into the modern problems as opposed to traditional Celtic music. This lovely song is just one example of such. It is from her "By The Time It Gets Dark" album released in cd form in the USA in 1994. She shows why she is a world talent! Enjoy!
reminds me when me and my family left the house we used to live in, now it's just a sad empty house 250 kilometers away filled with some remnants of the happy days we once had...I miss the place but we can't come back to that place anymore

MyMoppet52 yeah, this moving from one location to the other makes me feel like a vagrant. It's like a piece of me is left whenever we move. Glad you posted this song :)

@@MyMoppet52 My mother lived in over 30 houses(homes?) in 26 years of marriage. Imagine what that did to my sister and I (and I was at a state run boarding school). People wonder why, at 72, we still live in the first house that my wife and I bought back in '74. We fel that we "should" sell up and help our youngest make a home with is wife... but....
I well remember Mary singing this in Canberra, Australia, in 1988. Funny how great moments like that stick in the memory. Mary was still an up-and-coming act and supporting the Chieftains.
