  • Woody from Obadiah's takes a look at the Sopka North Hydro Cookstove and it's cousin, the Sopka North Wood Burning Cookstove. Both of these stoves feature a sleek, modern look with an excellent build quality, but there is one important difference between them: Hydronic heating versus traditional wood. Woody shows you what the difference is and explains what that means for how you heat your home, while walking you through the fine engineering found within these stoves.

These are very helpful videos. Woody the Whisperer is a bit disturbing, but the info is great.

I’m having trouble with my stove plugging up with creosote. I burn mostly red fir with a moisture content of 10-15%. I burn most of the day for heating purposes but cook occasionally. Sometimes I need to clean after only a week. A month is the longest I have been able to go. Is there something I am doing wrong or do you have tips on cleaning that might help?
