    I learned to knit watching Nimble Needles. He's a fantastic instructor. I crocheted for decades and couldn't quite grasp knitting. Once I tried following his continental style I picked it up right away.

      Yes, there's always more to knit than time allows! 🤗
      The Weekend Glow sweater is designed for a women's fit with a compound raglan shaping for a flattering bodice. While adapting the whole pattern for men might require more adjustments, we can try modifying the raglan shaping for a straighter look. This could create a more relaxed silhouette suitable for men.

    Good morning. I'm Mrs Odudu Agnes from Nigeria. I love your tutorial but my problems that I don't have knitting needle with cord. So I don't know how to calculate my measurements with my straight knitting needle. Thanks

    • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  Місяць тому

      Hello Mrs Odudu Agnes 😊
      Adjusting a circular needle pattern for straight needles involves converting rounds to rows and adapting for flat knitting.
      1. Divide the Pattern into Front and Back.
      For patterns worked in the round, divide the stitches into two parts: front and back. You will knit each part separately.
      2. Convert Rounds to Rows
      In circular knitting, every round is worked on the right side. For flat knitting, alternate between knit rows (RS) and purl rows (WS) to maintain the pattern.
      Example:
      Circular instruction: Knit all stitches.
      Flat knitting: Knit on RS, purl on WS.
      3. Adjust Decreases/Increases
      If the pattern has shaping (like raglan or waist decreases), follow the same instructions, but remember:
      Right side (RS) decreases/increases stay the same.
      Wrong side (WS) decreases/increases need to be mirrored:
      SSK (RS) becomes P2tog tbl (WS).
      K2tog (RS) becomes P2tog (WS).
      4. Seaming
      After knitting the front and back, seam them together using mattress stitch or your preferred method.
      I hope it helps. 😊

    Very nice sweater and great tutorial! I have never used Drops Lima. How do you find it in terms of wear comfort and durability of the yarn after some washes? Thanks!

    • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  Місяць тому

      Thank you so much for your kind words 😊! Drops Lima is one of my favorite yarns - it’s blended with alpaca, which gives it a light fluff and makes it much less itchy than 100% wool. I also really love Drops Nepal and Drops Alpaca for the same reasons.
      For me, these yarns strike the perfect balance of quality, natural composition, and price. They hold up well after washes, too!

    Thanks for your thoughtful instructions. I'd like to knit this sweater with an additional mohair thread. I'll have to use larger needles. Is it possible to adjust your pattern to my different needle size?

    • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you for your kind words! Adding a mohair thread will create a beautiful texture. Since it usually increases the yarn weight by one category, I recommend pairing it with DK or Sport weight yarn (around 125-150 meters per 50 grams). Just make sure to swatch first to ensure you get the right gauge.

    Me encanta este patrón!! A pesar de estar en inglés lo entiendo perfectamente. Mi único problema es que no puedo usar cuellos tan cerrados porque siento que me ahogan. ¿Si pongo más puntos de los necesarios para mi talla quedaría más abierto? • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you for your kind words!
      You can definitely cast on more stitches to create a more open neckline. In the set-up round (round 0) all sizes add stitches before starting the yoke. Feel free to cast on any number of stitches for the neck, but make sure it’s not more than the total you’ll need at the end of round 0. Happy knitting! 😊

    Is it possible if I use thin mohair for a lowkey transparent (cover up) effect and in this case I should increase the stitches right?
    But thank you so so much for this video, I really want to try this up even if I’ve never knitted a sweater before 🥹👍

    • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  Місяць тому

      Hello!
      If you’d like to use mohair, try holding it together with a thinner yarn (about 50g/125m) to match the gauge, and don’t forget to knit a swatch first.
      Good luck with the Weekend Glow sweater! There’s also a beginner friendly tutorial for the Mellow Mood sweater, and the First Star sweater tutorial will be out soon. 😊

    Gorgeous sweater, and it looks so lovely on you!
    Thank you so much for your detailed tutorials, so easy to follow🤗
    I hope you can help me, I have a question about the M1L and M1R stitch.
    I am a left handed knitter so I knit from my right needle to my left. My question is: when working a pattern that asks me to work an M1L should I be working the M1R instead and visa versa?
    Thank you in advance ❤

    • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much for the lovely compliment about the sweater!
      For left-handed knitters, things can sometimes look reversed! When a pattern says M1L, you'll actually want to work the M1R to create a left-leaning increase that matches standard construction. Also a K2tog becomes an SSK.
      There are great tutorials online for left-handed M1R, M1L increases specifically - searching for 'left-handed M1R, M1L' should give you some visual demos!
      Happy knitting!

    Hi
    Can drops air be used for your beautiful top?

    • @Juliapiro
      @Juliapiro  2 місяці тому

      Drops Air is a blown yarn with a different texture and gauge, but you can definitely give it a try! I suggest starting with a swatch using both 4.5 mm and 5 mm needles. If your gauge is close, you should be good to go.
      You might also consider going a size down for the sweater.
      But Drops Air can be a bit unpredictable! 🤗

      Yarn Group: 8 ply,
      Weight/length: 50 g = approx 100 m,
      Recommended needle size: 4 mm,
      Knitting tension: 10 x 10 cm = 21 sts x 28 rows.
