Hello, I am knitting the Mellow Mood Top and would like to know what method do you use to join the next ball of yarn ( I know that you recommended to join in the raglan rows)
Good evening I watched your video this morning and I was really impressed and keen to try and make this. My husband purchased and download this pattern for me. Look forward to making this I am an intermediate knitter learning new skills. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and clear video with helpful instructions demonstrated.
Thank you Julia!! Finished my beautiful top, just need to wash n block Omg ....luv it .....fits perfect Already started my 2nd as I want to try the I-cord bind off. Then I'm off and ready yarn in hands to try your zephyr top :-) You truly are amazing!!! Loving your patterns and excellent enjoyable tutorials
Congratulations 🎉 🥳 🎊! I'm so happy you love the top and it fits perfectly. The second one will be a fun knitting adventure. I'm excited to share some new sweater patterns soon. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as you've enjoyed this one 😊.
Oh my goodness! This is such a great adventure for someone that wants to learn how to knit along with you. I think this will inspire a lot of new knitters. I have many years behind me but it was great watching you as I'm knitting socks. Excellent tutorial.
Hi Julia Have my yarn, did my swatches and all ready to knit with you ! Luv my first mellow mood so much, I'm excited for your beautiful pattern here also. Thank you !!!
Wow thank you !! Another Julia sweater in the works.....drop shoulder. You will have me busy for awhile :-) I fully intend to make them all !! I'm learning tons. Huge thank you You are wonderful
So glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, the neckline is designed to be relaxed, looser than a typical t-shirt. The heavy microphone might be making it look extra loose in the video 😊
Thank you SO much for this pattern and knit along! I am a beginning knitter and wanted to take the plunge to make a top but I was intimidated by all the patterns and new stitches I’d have to learn. But this one built on the two stitches I knew and taught me two more very gradually and built up my confidence so much. I found it so helpful to see you knit each part too! I’m so pleased with how my top came out (I knitted the size L in Old Rusted Chair Squish DK in smoke and after doing the gauge swatch I went up a needle size so knitted it on 7 for the stockinette parts and on 5 for the ribbing). I have one small request - would you consider doing a tutorial video on continental knitting? I was able to adjust my knit stitch hold to match yours (so much faster and relaxed) and I can’t quite figure out the purl hold you have and would love a tutorial on that! 😅Please put out more patterns as this was a great success for me! 🎉
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I am absolutely thrilled to hear that my pattern and knit-along helped you on your knitting journey😊! It's so rewarding to know that I could play a small part in your confidence-building and successful project. I’m so proud of you for diving in and making it your own! I bet your top turned out beautifully! I'll continue to create more knitting patterns, and I hope you'll join me on future adventures! Thank you for your suggestion for a continental knitting tutorial. I'll definitely add it to my plans 🌷
Fantastic Pattern and super guide. I love when designers do this. Thank you very much Julia. 😊 I subscribed some time ago. This is my first post to you. Are you knitting the purls with a double wrap on the ralglan lines?
Thank you for your lovely feedback! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the pattern. For the purl stitches, I use the standard purl method without a double wrap. 🤗
I watched this video tonight and am excited to try it out. I tried to purchase the pattern with the discount but there was a problem and it wouldn’t go through. Perhaps my bank is worried about the transaction in another country. I will try again in the morning.
Hi Julia In your spare time ha ha Would luv tutorial on how to uno/tink/frog an i-cord bind off. There are none that I can find. Working my first i-cord bind off and not perfect ha ha. Some loose, some tight but, hey it's my first time and I will keep going. Especially since I don't know how to undo it. Yes, shame on me grrrr no lie line. This will teach me! Thanks for your time and help.
I’m so sorry to hear that! Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it. If you’re at the end of the round, retrieve the last three stitches you wove in. Then, you should be able to easily unravel stitch by stitch and get them back onto the needle (one by one).
@knitwithesenique wow, that would be awesome .....really, but please don't sacrifice your beautiful top !!!!!!!! My i-cord isn't bad for the very first time :-) and I won't tell, if you don't ha ha I will work on sleeves tomorrow . More i-cord practice !! I sure do need it.

Hi Mira! Thanks so much for your lovely comment! Regarding knitting needles, I use DROPS Pro Classic interchangeable circular needles for my video tutorials. They're a great all-around choice. Behind the scenes, I prefer the wooden DROPS Pro Romance. However, their dark color can sometimes be tricky to see when working with darker yarns.

Thanks so much, Michelle! Adapting the pattern to a fingering weight yarn is definitely possible. Using a smaller needle size and swatching to gauge will be key. To get the size you want, you can consider knitting 1-3 sizes larger. Linen would be a beautiful, breezy choice for a summer top! So happy you enjoyed the video!
I originally knit the brown top in size Medium, but I wasn't happy with the way it fit. I unraveled it and made it again in size Small. You can see it in this video.
@knitwithesenique OK, thank you. I will go back n take a closer peek :-) Small fits me great, but I can't help to wonder what a medium would look like lol
Hello Julia. I have received my yarn (a DK weight cotton blend) at long last. I know I am a loose knitter, so think I will start my swatching with a size smaller needles. I notice that you say to measure the stitches in the stitch after blocking. I have two questions. 1) Should I expect the swatch to be larger or smaller after the blocking? And 2) can I reuse the yarn, to make it a part of the sweater, after it has been blocked and unravelled?
Hello! 😊 1) Cotton blends usually don’t stretch after blocking, but the stitches do relax and become more even, so the swatch might get just a little larger. I usually have a good idea of the gauge before washing, but blocking helps confirm everything. 2) You can reuse your swatch if needed! Just unravel it, wrap the yarn around a book, tie both ends, soak it for 20 minutes, let it dry, and roll it back into a ball. Here’s a Reel showing this technique: instagram.com/reel/C7OjnXvs-fi/?. The trickiest part is avoiding tangling, but using a vase as a stand makes it easier to pull the yarn.
@@Juliapiro Thank you so much, Julia. All your information is so useful. I did find that it stretched out (width-wise) just enough to make it exactly the gauge you suggest, just as you said. I'll save the swatch in case I need it. I'm just starting the third row of the yoke. Thanks again!
