He absolutely counters False Start. The skill stats "At start of player phase or enemy phase... Neutralizes any penalty that takes effect... /at that time/." False Start is apploed at the start of enemy phase (from Freyr's peroective) so Freyr will block it, no question.
I'm holding final judgment until we see how he interacts with Elimine but as of right now, my feeling is adamantly that it is not okay to invalidate a support that is not even 2 years old.
honestly. and i do feel what most people tend to forget - Elimine was the counter for BS-ery that they created in Catria, Chrom(pick one), Sigurd/Seliph. etc etc etc. honestly, all i know is congrats IS you really just made it so i really don't care about AR at all..
This is the most skippable mythic banner in a while now so I'm not worried about Elimine being dead at all tbh. I suspect he's going to be the L!Nanna of AR-D - not many will have him even though he might be good. I would absolutely not remove Arval from my AR-D in favor of Freyr...
Honestly it doesn't matter if he can stop Elimine or not nukes can still kill your units either way. However, Isolation killed dancer traps and i hope they can make a comback with this.
If it cleans false start, it would be nice for raids, BUT this thing is the omega counter of Duo thorr, Yune, sudden panic chars, gravity chars, and so on.

A good thing about being a casual player in this game is that banners like these are good value for me, when it wouldn't be otherwise, since the only units I have on here is Thorr, Celine, Sigurd, and of course Alear, and I want multiple copies of Sigurd and Alear. So definitely summoning on this banner as I want to eventually +10 Alear. Also, as much as I like Freyr, a part of me is tempted to fodder Atk/Def Clash (and perhaps Lull Atk/Def 4 though inheritance looks like a pain to deal with for both) to L!Sigurd. He probably cleanses false start on elimines turn right after it's applied, unless he's also false started. Meaning the start of turn effects on enemy phase will trigger

I wish it had 3 spaces range. Well, since they did give attention to penalty removal again, I wouldn't be surprised to get a tier 4 recovery skill that does that both turns. Ofc, with Freyr's release now, it might take a while. This keeps me hopeful for Sara's refine whenever we get that. Man... we'll have to deal with this month and next two being legendary to get that dark mythic |:
They did. It was Elimine. Now they are selling the anti Elimine unit. Next they'll sell the anti brave attack unit because IS has no idea what they are doing. Create problems, sell solutions.
I just hope I will get him at the very least 1... Its all well and good to be a og unit finally but I need to have luck to get him...I know and that that he will be a paid spark I'm 100% sure of it so luck is all I can cling up to in order to get him because I really love his art and unit but that's nothing if I just fail to get him to enjoy him
I think what needs to be taken into account is Freyr is a melee cav. Whom can be separated anyway. Since he will generally run into the frontlines, he will be easy to take out. Once people realize this, he turns into a tier 2 character, easy. I will still bring Elimine just to use the DR she provides. She still has a use for healing if Duma snipes healing towers. Doesn't mean Elimine is dead at all.
Because what the game really needed is a counter to the Catria counter. 😞 She is a TWO YEAR OLD unit that still runs rampant every season. I just don’t get it. She needs to be put out to pasture once and for all.
If Freyr does indeed negate False Start, Anima season really will be unbearable. Harmonized Catria was already bad enough, but now we won't be able to shut off her free brave attack gimmick. Defense teams are already extremely powerful. Countering Elimine wasn't even that hard to begin with. You just had to not put 2 really good buffers (for example, Legendary Robin and Bridal Catria/Winter Cordelia) in the same row. He also gets rid of other penalties so there goes debuff units on offense. IS really doesn't know how to fix the problems they've created. Not that Elimine was one of them of course. At this point, I wish they'd add more weekly auto plays in AR. At least I wouldn't have to deal with the cancer anymore.

Let's not forget Chaos season as Freyr will start appearing their as well so we'll be forced to deal with SUPER Catria/Winter Cordelia balls as Embla was perfect for Chaos season but not anymore.
Melee cav is a really awful thing to be for defense, to the point where even if he DOES cleanse false start I'm convinced it's still better to run Mirabilis+Arval and res stack Catria to make her dodge 95% of Elimines (and then Fomortis as your third mythic). Unlike Freyr, those units still serve other functions and won't just stand there if debuffs aren't present.
Freyr is the Oddjob or Leroy Smith of FEH and only noobs are going to be using him and I have no respect for anyone that uses him on their defense team for both Chaos or Anima season.

You can false start Gregor tho. He won't reapply his debuff on enemy phase if you do

B.catria lets f2p untis defeat whaled units and because a lot of people have she should stay as a meta relavent unit at least
By introducing a unit that can never be countered in anyway and if FEH were to introduce a ban list Freyr would be the first unit to be put on it.
